Great question - because it is a new model, and is manufactured, in entirety, by an overseas Indian vendor, production/shipping have taken longer than expected. BMW Motorrad USA says the G 310 R will be arriving into US dealerships this September as a 2018 model.
I rode one this past weekend, i have an 09 gsxr600 and im thinking about getting this, i feel in love with it, almost the same price as a grom but with way more power
finally a decent review around about this bike! i'm going for my A2 license soon and i was normally thinking about KTM duke 390 or Honda cb500f and then this popped up... The only thing that lets me doubt this one is the +- 34HP it has, would it been 40-45 wich is the limit of the A2 license i would've got this one directly. Can you tell anything about the comparison between this one and the KTM / Honda?
Hey what's up? The Honda feels a tad slower. It doesn't handle quite as well as the BMW bike if I can recall, but it's close. The Orange bike is a bit faster but feels more crude. If i was in the market for a little bike, this is the one I'd buy.
This depends, if you take the honda 300 it definitely is slower. The cb500 is a tad faster I think, but it is definitely a larger bike and so it is a bit heavier, but it still handles very good. I chose for the Honda a year ago because it seemed like the best bike for the money. And that I would not grow out of it as fast as the bmw. Never tried a duke so that maybe is the perfect mix between the two worlds. Better power as the bmw and lighter as the honda.
Had the bike for about 4 months now, I don’t have a single negative thing to say, I use it on a daily basis (I live in Vegas so we can ride year round),with 55mpg, this bike costs me around $30 on fuel per month, premium of-course, getting around town it is magnificent, however, just like mentioned in the review, the bike is definitely not ideal on the highway, I have taken it on the highway, but it’s obviously not built for it, I was missing the power when I needed it...However, for what the bike is made for, which is in-town riding, don’t look any further, this bike is the way to go, If you are a beginner rider, or just want a commuter bike, get it...I will be upgrading to a BMW S1000R around summer time though
Agreed - it's never been a better time to try out motorcycling. Between the plethora of quality motorcycles plus gear options - the choices are nearly limitless!
This really looks like a nice bike for riding in the twistys......low mid power fun bike, low seat, low ground clearance & pretty lightweight....pretty sweet for a single cylinder bike
I now have learned we're looking at a June delivery date. As for any mods; maybe ....slip-on exhaust, adjustable break/clutch levers, frames sliders, a comfy seat if available. However, time will tell if I do some of any. :)
Hi MotoBoy - these types of events are typically reserved for members of the motorcycling media. A BMW demo ride tour would be your best bet at swinging a leg over one of the bikes in a similar type of atmosphere to what we experienced in this video.
Your comment on grabbing a handful of break anytime is a bit misleading. Leaned over you grab a handful there are very high chances of the front sliding out cause it is over loaded. For that cornering abs along with traction control is needed. Abs simply ensures the wheels dont lock on breaking when there is a loss of traction.
I think Motorrad engineers along with TVS did a pretty good job. The engine does have some vibration at high revs but it isn't terrible. The engine's fueling and throttle response are on point. It also has considerable pep for a small displacement bike. It ain't going outrun a orange 390 but it does in fact feel more "refined" then that. Still, it would have been nice if engineers could have infused more Motorrad DNA into the engine. But that's hard to do with a single-cylinder configuration.
We encourage you to get the answers to your question in this written review: www.ridersdomain.com/magazine/motorcycles/reviews/2017-bmw-g310r-first-test/
Thanks for watching and for the feedback. We plan to make more and more of these types of videos. Of course, the aftermarket is going to take kindly to these things! Thanks again for tuning in.
It'd be an excellent beginner bike! If you've never ridden on the street before it's a great place to start. Manageable power, up-to-date features, but not so geared up with fancy bells and whistles that a light crash would break the bank.
Nice review mate.Looks a great little bike, been thinking about getting something smaller and cheaper to run than the Ninja as i just don't do enough miles to justify the cost of running it.Something around the 300cc size looks great for around town, and way lighter than my bike as well.
I'm Just hopping that BMW made a special spec for Indonesia market. because in our country if this bike still has 310 cc displacement we will pay more for the Taxt. but if BMW made it in 250 cc the price will be more friendly for us.. I believe BMW can make it if they use the TVS Factory in Our Country... LOL.......
I know it's not in the same sort of price range, but man, for anything in the small engine motorcycle category today, that 2017 Duke 390 with the premium features is so appealing. Sure it's European. Sure it's KTM with long lead times on parts and service. Sure the dealer network isn't huge. But it's inexpensive. It's the best 300 series on the market. They didn't cheap out on stuff.
Hi! We touched on this in our written review. Please give it a read here (paragraph 12): www.ridersdomain.com/magazine/motorcycles/reviews/2017-bmw-g310r-first-test/
Nice looking bike. I love the look of BMWs. I am a rookie rider on a Yamaha FZ-07 but am interested in the BMW. But I don't think a 310 would do it for me. R NineT??
Yeah, if you own a FZ-07 and are looking to make a step up the G 310 R wouldn't be the bike for you. Sounds like something from nineT family, or perhaps the F800R might be a good option. The nineT is a pretty awesome bike though, especially after tweaking the suspension a bit.
R NineT would be a letdown after owning an FZ-07. The R NineT is not like the XSR900 it's a style bike that will require extensive suspension mods to stack up to the riding style the FZ-07 will allow you to enjoy. If you want more power, and you don't want an ugly BMW (The 800 is ugly there are no ifs ands or buts about it) but you still want a Euro bike, then look in the direction of Triumph. The new 2017 Street Triple 765 has power, the triple howl, sexy styling, color dash if you get the R, great suspension, and it's building on the already beloved Street Triple platform.
Hi! We didn't have the opportunity to conduct that test. This was a follow the leader-style group ride. We'd estimate the 0-60 mph time on this thing to be between five and six seconds though.
Yes. Read this written review and all of your questions shall be answered: www.ridersdomain.com/magazine/motorcycles/reviews/2017-bmw-g310r-first-test/
yeah I wanna see the review of Dominar 400 by a reviewer outside of India too. Its taking the market there by storm. I m lil bit feeling confused if the bike is as good as they claim for just around $2400.
Hi, we encourage you to read the article to get all of the juicy specs on this motorcycle: www.ridersdomain.com/magazine/motorcycles/reviews/2017-bmw-g310r-first-test/ It does not have cornering ABS function however.
We haven't tested a Duke 390 against this thing so it is hard to compare. The build quality is certainly at a higher level than KTM's offering. The 390 is a bit quicker too.
Will this bike be worthy of the BMW moniker? Like you know a single cylinder and kinda puny just my thoughts. Come on BMW make it 500 cc twin atleast and make it look a lil bigger please ✌️
Adam Waheed I ride in SoCal, so 35-45mph splitting lanes on the 405 gote those numbers. But my K6 cant do that, but both are generally the same over 75mph. I got a liter bike for its low rpm power, nothing HD like, but 600s just cant be lugged and feel safe.
it looks just like my grom and only a little more expensive. but i got the grom super cheap and this bike isnt used on craigslist yet. and the ones that are are like brand new and overpriced. though motorcycles are cheap they are overpriced.
referring to the transmission: "It's super accurate yet precise" ..... What the fuck does that mean exactly!?? If you're gonna do a review, just relax and fuckin talk! We'll figure it all out if you do! Thanks!
Hey man, watch your mouth - my mother reads these comments. The gearbox on this bike is up to snuff and commiserate with the Motorrad folks other bikes.
Adam Waheed If your mother is a Nun I'll apologize, otherwise you need to get over your assinign self., and while your at it take some speech classes! Thanks for the reply cupcake! I needed another laugh tonight!
This thing will give Honda's 250/300-class street bike a run for its money. I encourage you to test ride one and you'll understand our sentiment. On another note, we agree with you. A twin-cylinder engine configuration would have been preferable but the price tag would certainly have risen. We're still pleased with what BMW Motorrad did with this motorcycle. Kudos to them.
What's up man? Yeah I can do that. But first, I'm planning on making a 'learn how to ride video' - make sure to check out my personal RUclips channel - cause that's where it will live. But good idea - would be nice to sit down and discuss that. Thanks for watching.
80 mpg if you're going suggest road speeds and not throttling hard. I have a 2 stroke 80cc gas bike that I built that gets 75 mpg. But I can easily make it get 100 mpg if I take it slow and accelerate smoothly. Of course the manufacturer is going to claim the best case scenario mpg for marketing and classification purposes.
When it is launching in USA? Southern California dealers does not even know when they will be receiving it?
Great question - because it is a new model, and is manufactured, in entirety, by an overseas Indian vendor, production/shipping have taken longer than expected. BMW Motorrad USA says the G 310 R will be arriving into US dealerships this September as a 2018 model.
This is the best review I have seen about this motorcycle! I ordered mine this morning and now I'm even happier with my choice.
That so awesome! Let us know what you think when you get some seat time on that thing!
I'm working on getting my motorcycle rider's license very soon and then this will very likely be my very first bike! Super excited!
eagerly waiting for this bike to launch in India
ravi shekhar Mee to bro
I appreciate the real-time commentary instead of a voice-over added later in post.
Good review video.
Thanks for the feedback.
Sooooooo glad to hear you back on RUclips, Mr Waheed! I've missed your enthusiastic and informative style. Instant sub.
Thanks for the comment and for tuning in. What would you like to see more of, BTW?
I rode one this past weekend, i have an 09 gsxr600 and im thinking about getting this, i feel in love with it, almost the same price as a grom but with way more power
can't wait for this to b launched in India which is just round the corner..!
finally a decent review around about this bike!

jens vdplas the new KTM 390 Duke is the way to go.
Had the bike for about 4 months now, I don’t have a single negative thing to say, I use it on a daily basis (I live in Vegas so we can ride year round),with 55mpg, this bike costs me around $30 on fuel per month, premium of-course, getting around town it is magnificent, however, just like mentioned in the review, the bike is definitely not ideal on the highway, I have taken it on the highway, but it’s obviously not built for it, I was missing the power when I needed it...However, for what the bike is made for, which is in-town riding, don’t look any further, this bike is the way to go, If you are a beginner rider, or just want a commuter bike, get it...I will be upgrading to a BMW S1000R around summer time though
i love when some of these bikes makes you ask the question "why drive a car?". its so easy for beginners and faint hearted nowadays man
Agreed - it's never been a better time to try out motorcycling. Between the plethora of quality motorcycles plus gear options - the choices are nearly limitless!
There you are, Adam!!
Is there a place for leg guards?
Great video. I have this bike, and it’s a blast to ride.
This really looks like a nice bike for riding in the twistys......low mid power fun bike, low seat, low ground clearance & pretty lightweight....pretty sweet for a single cylinder bike
It is perfect for that. A very nice sporty handling small displacement motorcycle.
is there any faired version coming from BMW?
how does it perform against its competitors in it's class ??
Can't wait for this to come out to get it
when it will launch in India?
I have one on order from a local BMW dealership here in western Canada. I think I'm looking at a Mar/Apr delivery.
That's great. Do you have any modifications planned for it?
I now have learned we're looking at a June delivery date. As for any mods; maybe ....slip-on exhaust, adjustable break/clutch levers, frames sliders, a comfy seat if available. However, time will tell if I do some of any. :)
Great video! Which color do you guys think is the best? Help meee! I am gonna get one next month!
We're always fans of the BMW's motorsport red/white/blue colorway!
Is there any way to get invited along these rides in L.A.?
Hi MotoBoy - these types of events are typically reserved for members of the motorcycling media. A BMW demo ride tour would be your best bet at swinging a leg over one of the bikes in a similar type of atmosphere to what we experienced in this video.
Your comment on grabbing a handful of break anytime is a bit misleading. Leaned over you grab a handful there are very high chances of the front sliding out cause it is over loaded. For that cornering abs along with traction control is needed.
Abs simply ensures the wheels dont lock on breaking when there is a loss of traction.
What is your opinion regarding the engine, specifically refinement, tractability, presence/lack of vibrations?
I think Motorrad engineers along with TVS did a pretty good job. The engine does have some vibration at high revs but it isn't terrible. The engine's fueling and throttle response are on point. It also has considerable pep for a small displacement bike. It ain't going outrun a orange 390 but it does in fact feel more "refined" then that. Still, it would have been nice if engineers could have infused more Motorrad DNA into the engine. But that's hard to do with a single-cylinder configuration.
Adam Waheed at what range of rpm does it begin to feel vibey? also, how is it's torque delivery throughout the rev range?
Hi - I do not recall - it's been a while since I rode that motorcycle.
Adam Waheed no problem! thanks a lot for the info..... eagerly awaiting the launch here in India ☺
does this have a slipper clutch?
Does it comes with slipper clutch?Does the exhaust sounds same like KTM duke ? How much topspeed you have attained?
We encourage you to get the answers to your question in this written review: www.ridersdomain.com/magazine/motorcycles/reviews/2017-bmw-g310r-first-test/
Great stuff Riders Domain (from Norcal). Short, informative, concise...new sub.AND, cant wait to the some mods avail in the next 6 months?
Thanks for watching and for the feedback. We plan to make more and more of these types of videos. Of course, the aftermarket is going to take kindly to these things! Thanks again for tuning in.

This bike, Ninja 400, R3, or 390 DUKE? Which would you pick for beginner bike?
you can say how much it costs in India wit rupees and the release date in india
My grom does 80 and gets there quick. Highways aren’t an issue and still on the 125cc engine.
Adam waheed your too good at explaining.miss you in Motousa
Well thanks for that. Yeah, that chapter has closed but we've started a new one over here. Thanks for the nice comment and for tuning in!
My pleasure bro best regards am watching you from india(Mumbai)
Ktm are doing the right thing making small cc bikes look like their bigger counter part I would buy this instead if it had headlight like the s1000
Man times have changed. To think this bike is at the price point that the Buell Blast was 10 years ago.
They sure have. We got a chuckle out of your comment. Nicely written!
Great review cheers!
Thanks man!
Hey guys would you guys suggest this bike for a beginner?
It'd be an excellent beginner bike! If you've never ridden on the street before it's a great place to start. Manageable power, up-to-date features, but not so geared up with fancy bells and whistles that a light crash would break the bank.
when is it available?
Good day sir. Please refer to our written review for US availability >>
www.ridersdomain.com/magazine/motorcycles/reviews/2017-bmw-g310r-first-test/
It’s a nice and friendly motorcycle!
Nice review mate.Looks a great little bike, been thinking about getting something smaller and cheaper to run than the Ninja as i just don't do enough miles to justify the cost of running it.Something around the 300cc size looks great for around town, and way lighter than my bike as well.
galenkia go buy a KTM Duke 390 2017, it's the bewt ypu can get un that class
Abs only on the rear?
This motorcycle is equipped with ABS hydraulic brakes front and rear.
LOL.......
abdillah oding Indonesia gets all the good bikes in release while we in India gets shat upon by these companies haha.
Try Brazil: USD 7.000 and our minimum wage is around USD300.
Usually I see an indo variant for bikes like Honda or yamaha...might as well make an indonesian brand bike so that you can make whatever you want?
I love how you seem to know the difference between accuracy and precision 🤓
HAHA - very funny.
Thank you. First good review I've seen and I really want one
Sweet! tell your friends, lol. Yes, we want one too. Heck for the price, may as well buy two!
This one or the new ktm 390 duke? In my country this one is 4750 euro and ktm is 5350 euro. Last 2 days to purchase one of these. Need help!
Does anyone know what the maintenance schedule and costs are like for this motorcycle?
Hi! We touched on this in our written review. Please give it a read here (paragraph 12): www.ridersdomain.com/magazine/motorcycles/reviews/2017-bmw-g310r-first-test/
Free for the first 2 years from my dealer if from new
Where has it launched ?
This press event took place in Los Angeles, California.
is it possible to turn off the abs?
No. The ABS is fixed on this model.
Tvs motors is building this bike in india its named tvs Akula 310cc.
Nop, Akula is a different bike. But BMW G310R is indeed made exclusively in TVS motors plant in India.
trippinghard akula has the same engine.
they are very similar to each other check out lics same engine .. swing arm ... front forks ... exhaust. .. monosuspension all are same
Any leads on the 310gs?
The 310 GS will be launched in the Americas this fall, 2017.
great video!
Glad to hear you enjoyed it!
Thanks for the advice!
Anytime - glad to help. If you need any more tips feel free to reach out to us, or follow us on social media @ridersdomain
Thanks Osprey, I actually have looked at the Triumph and like the looks of it. I'll look into in more detail.
how would you rate this bike against the kawasaki z300? Since it's about the same price
Hi Tom - thanks for the note. We haven't swung a leg over the Z300. We operate out of the US and that motorcycle isn't available in our country.
what is the 0-60 time of the bike??
Hi! We didn't have the opportunity to conduct that test. This was a follow the leader-style group ride. We'd estimate the 0-60 mph time on this thing to be between five and six seconds though.
can u please tell me how much the bike costs
Yes. Read this written review and all of your questions shall be answered: www.ridersdomain.com/magazine/motorcycles/reviews/2017-bmw-g310r-first-test/
"Accurate yet precise."
Radial brake calipers??
Yup - a radial-mount front brake caliper is standard equipment on this one.
Riders Domain Very rare on a 300cc... even my sv650 2017 doesn't have a radial brake... 😂
Haha yup. It's a Indian-made Brembo knock-off however. Still cool though...
Adam Waheed its not a knockoff. Bybre is a low cost subsidiary of Brembo.
Interesting - thanks for the clarification on that. I really appreciate it.
What top Speed of G310R You can do bro?
We never got a chance to find out but BMW claims its good for 90 mph. We believe them.
Oh my goodness that stock exhaust sounds so mean. Mama want.
check out 'dominar 400' and plz do a review.. its currently rocking indian market!
Thanks for the tip and for watching!
yeah I wanna see the review of Dominar 400 by a reviewer outside of India too. Its taking the market there by storm. I m lil bit feeling confused if the bike is as good as they claim for just around $2400.
what is your view of pushing this bike to 500 to 600 miles per day. Will it be harming the engine ?
Duke 390 or bmw g310r?
Thank you for this video. 👍👍🤘💥
Our pleasure, thanks for checking it out!
OK Yamaha, MT-03 in the US please....like yesterday?
we have it in México, top seller :)
did he really just say that BMWs claim that it produces 34bhp is a lie and it hardly touches 25bhps?
3:14
A M he means the rear wheel output is around 25-27hps
Thanks man - that is what I meant to say.
Adam Waheed welcome sir... Really need that motousa magic in these reviews though!! ☺
I certainly agree! Might be a bit before we're at that level though!
😘😎 yeah sure
does it have cornering ABS??
Hi, we encourage you to read the article to get all of the juicy specs on this motorcycle: www.ridersdomain.com/magazine/motorcycles/reviews/2017-bmw-g310r-first-test/
It does not have cornering ABS function however.
Why the fuck would you brake in a corner
And how about when compared with KTM DUKE 390?
We haven't tested a Duke 390 against this thing so it is hard to compare. The build quality is certainly at a higher level than KTM's offering. The 390 is a bit quicker too.
Will this bike be worthy of the BMW moniker? Like you know a single cylinder and kinda puny just my thoughts.
Come on BMW make it 500 cc twin atleast and make it look a lil bigger please ✌️
We can't lie - a multi-cylinder configuration would have been awesome. It would have meant more $$$ though.
waiting😍😍
Please cut the size of that exhaust
my k9 gsxr 1000 got 55mpg calculated at the pump if I rode it super chill. my current k6 gsxr 1000 gets 40 to 45mpg. not impressed, needs over 70.
Agreed my FZ-07 gets 52-64 with an exhaust and an ECU flash.
You ride slow then. I recorded a 45 mpg average on that thing when I rode it a couple years ago.

BMW says she's good for 90 mph.

R.I.P Bear Morgan
just because there's people out there that need to be talked to like they're 4 y/o doesnt mean he should do his reviews like that.
You need real problems.
sound is good
I swear those disk brakes are the wrong way around
I was really looking forward to the cb300r launch......was
I still think the Honda has by far the most refined chassis and overall feel. I just wish they didn't put a stinking one-cylinder bitch engine in it.
California "you know".. I guess your Filipino you know. Hehe
I think power is little less
waiting for India's launch
Oh hey you're from Motorcycle USA
Hello - I use to work for that outfit. Thanks for watching!
"Accurate plus precise."
Lol.
Plus it's proper and definite.
Adam Waheed is back Bitchs !!
I'm here!
Adam Waheed welcome back homie ✌🏼😎
Its a Buell Blast Just Shaped Different
Not even close!
Prove it
Looks Just Like One I have two
Just a slipper clutch away from being my first choice.
It's so good it doesn't even need one!
I'd much prefer the Yamaha MT-03.
Why is that?
42 bhp. About the same weight.
Terrible gas mileage my FZ-07 gets 53+ and I have an exhaust and an ECU flash...
Obviously fuel mileage is subjective and dependent on how fast you ride. This ride was at a quick pace (high rpm) through the city...
Only down side about it is the headlight ! they are reaallly ugly if i someday got this bike i would sure change them
Even BMW riders dont indicate
we start with 100 cc bike if we want to learn how to ride gear bike.. not 310 cc.. 310 cc will be when we get most experience of riding.. lolz
Yeah - depends on where you are at in the world. In the United States a 310cc bike is actually small. In southeast Asia-- not so much...
Adam Waheed can you make some videos on how to effectively use breaks
What's up man? Yeah I can do that. But first, I'm planning on making a 'learn how to ride video' - make sure to check out my personal RUclips channel - cause that's where it will live. But good idea - would be nice to sit down and discuss that.
Thanks for watching.
Jaboody Dubs?
BMW claims 80-85mpg, you're getting 54mpg? wtf I'll steer clear from it..shame
80 mpg if you're going suggest road speeds and not throttling hard. I have a 2 stroke 80cc gas bike that I built that gets 75 mpg.
