I have a candy apple red one. It is incredible. My parents put it on lay away cause we couldn't afford it at the time. When I took the bike home it was the best day ever. Still sits in my dads garage to this day.
I told my parents not to buy me a bike and just give me money because I'm saving for a haro....Haro..... they bought me a Manga from Walmart. I was like yeah that doesn't help me be in BMX lol
I had the haro backtrail x2 Ryan Nyquist edition. Designed similar to this. Candy apple red. Rode it into the ground when I was a kid. Learned how to hit jumps and ride wheelies on it, Some of my best summertime childhood memories on that bike.
I still have my 2003 Dave mirra flair signature model. My father paid 1500 for it twenty years ago. BMX is what got me into dirtbikes. And Dave Mirra was a legend. RIP. thanks for sharing y'all! Brought back memories.
Nice Bike. One of my best memories as a kid, is when my parents bought a new Mongoose for me, 1980 Christmas, when I was in the first grade. One of the best Christmas Holidays, that I ever had.
I have a 1999 haro zippo all original decals brakes grips stickers minimal rust I live in Australia I bought it from Missouri I wanted one since I first saw one it the late 1990s it's beautiful I keep it inside I need to ride it more 😊👍
Still have my zippo from either 98 or 2000. Would have to look. Mine was the blue metallic. Didn’t abuse it much. Still pretty mint. Sat in the basement last 20 years or so lol
I grew up riding bmx since early 90’s the seat is not original or seat post that is a modern and not original tires those a newer tires but other than that the looks most original beside those things but killer haro! Haven’t seen one in long time. So much you asking?
In the UK in the 80s Raleigh burner was gold but you could peel the wrap off it and it was chrome the old BMX are collector items for the right person now
I remember the stunt bmx era when every young guy had one and were all learning tricks and doing jumps in the street over ramps. Doesn't seem to be any interest anymore
No there's still alot of BMXers but for sure isn't as popular with the kids. If I had a kid he would be made to go outside and ride a bike or do something physical for at least 30 minutes a day. Kids overstimululated and don't want to learn and go through to pains of dirt jumping or sending it down a fight of stairs. And the kids that do bike aloy of them use single speed hardtail dirt jumpers (MTB), which have become a great choice for dirt jumping but they are 2-3x the price of a BMX bike. I felt like before kids didn't think it was cool they all wanted BMX bikes.
I sure recall those days with fondness and all these years later my little thumbnail is me doing my thing on my Schwinn Sting-Ray in early '75 in the Drake-Edwards Housing Area in Frankfurt, West Germany. We had moved there from California just a few months earlier--my Dad got a job as a civilian civil engineer over there--and it was, in retrospect, something special to easily make friends and go riding and jumping and getting all crazy on our banana-seat bikes. And in Frankfurt, it was fun for me to show off for German kids who'd walk over from their apartment complex and watch me do my ramp-to-ramp jumps, same with a year later showing them my CYC Stormer BMX bike which I bought mail-order through an ad in Dirt Bike magazine. And wow, that Stormer with its Skyway Tuff-Wheels could take a pounding off those long, steep, concrete staircases over there. You definitely had to commit to those, lol. And I eventually bent the rear wheel and Skyway was true to its word about free replacement in '79 when I was back in California that year. And for about five years--'75 to '80--I was into riding bikes and motorcycles simultaneously, lots of bikes and lots of motorcycles, my first being a 50cc Honda Dax in Frankfurt--German law was relaxed a bit for American military dependents who could be street-legal on a 50 at age 15--and my last being my Dad's BMW R100RS in California in '79, BMW's first fully-faired sport bike and one of the first in the U.S. because my Dad brought it over from West Germany. Good riding times, for sure.
