Here's a tip when playing volleyball: dont run in the receiving position because it slows you down. Also, when receiving, dont lift only your arms. You know how your knees are bent while in a receiving position? That's a thing for a reason, because you lift your body up to receive the ball instead of only your arms because it makes the ball travel less of a distance.
