Saw this video by chance today and just wanted to share to viewers (and OP as well) that Tsuwabuki Toshi, Sakusa Kiyoomi's stage play actor (heavily featured in this video), has released a statement about his health condition. On his Twitter post, he revealed that he has been diagnosed of liver cirrhosis at age 18, which has then been developed to a most likely incurable disease (from the post, I remember him mentioning Wilson's disease - it is "a rare genetic disorder characterized by excess copper stored in various body tissues, particularly the liver, brain, and corneas of the eyes. The disease is progressive and, if left untreated, it may cause liver disease, central nervous system dysfunction, and death"). He had mentioned that his wife - her name is Momona, and she works as a singer and actress - had been taking care of him really well, and had also been always there for him. (From his message, you can just feel how deeply in love he is. No wonder why they got married right away.) He was asked not to reveal his health condition until he "sells" (gets even more popular and gets projects), and he has only recently revealed it to his fans. Please do not quote me on this, but it seems like this condition of his may have been the reason why he wasn't able to reprise his role as Sakusa in the final Haikyuu!! stage play. I hope that you'll consider following him in his other projects as well, even though the Haikyuu!! stage plays (also called Haisute) is now over. I think it would mean a lot to him to see that there are people who loves him, especially in these trying times. Sakusa’s actor crossdressing and convincingly acting the part as a schoolgirl made me audibly groan. I don’t know how to process that bit. I hope he remains in good health in his ventures
Just so you know all of the actors if not most of them has crossed dressed in the show. They're usually the extras but there are times theyre more in the sport light like kuroo and Kenma, Bokuto and Akaashi, as fangirls of Oikawa and atsumu. As well as Shibayama as Mika-chan, Daisho's Girlfriend. If i were to guess why, its to keep the cast small(ish), since Haikyuu doesnt take place in an all boys school there's a need for female actors and some of the male actors crossdress to avoid just having female actors playing only extras and perhaps keep the budget of the show at a reasonable price Its not that uncommon anyways since (if memory serves me right) Shakespeare's stage plays at the time had all, ALL, male casts due gender stuff. so they would have to cross dress as well. If youre that uncomfortable with it, i recommend you think of it like Sakusa's non cannon sister or something 😅
Oh i forgot about another person who's crossdress was more in the spot light. Ennoshita as the female character during the story telling of Noya and Tanaka's literature tutor lessons
