    ELECTRIC SHOCK
Electricity is a vital part on which our day to day life depends, with the wide spreding of urbanisation the use and demand of electricity too at the great pace. Well the increasing demand should have had many benifits but the actuality is counterproductive. Since electricity is a common thing in every household and its supply also attached with various farm production , the politicians here is taking advantage by using its bill as a tool to attract voters.
At the beginning this electric free aproach is taken in delhi under a fixed unit . It means consumers wouldn't have to pay the bill unless they exceed the 200 units per month , this has been looked as positive steps as well , as it may reduce the excessive use of electricity under the limit of 200 unit but now this too being lifted in the offer made in the ongoing polls in punjab and Uttar Pradesh.
All parties are offering free electricity to farmers and consumers if voted to power.
Let us see the consequences here -
    1) The free electricity without even a cap would lead to excessive use of it and even in useless things as well.
    2) Putting down the bill will also lead to excessive irrigation ( more than necessary specially during rice season) which then lead to reduction in the ground level water which unfortunately have no measure meter .
    3) This is also leading the company to get under the trap and thus , their only choice is either to close down or cut in its branches which than reduce employment in the sector which is one of the prevelent issue today.
    4) As there is free cost of electric supply , the companies have two choices - increasing its rate in business houses and industries and govt funding. First one will is increase the operation cost of production thus increase in prices of goods and the second the govt funding will also be met by taxation from the public which means ultimately it is the consumers who have to bear the burden .
This vicious cycle would mainly effect the poor section as they are the one who use less electricity than the rich people but bear the losses as same as the rich one.
Overall this is wrong direction that politicians are adopting for short term political benifit. Recently the power minister RAJ KUMAR SINGH had said the losses due to this approach but now its their party as well who are going with this approach as well. Not blaming a single party but all are equally responsible for this as every part has this offer in plate.
Rather than this the thing that could have done was that the less cost electric charging station which have dual benifits - first it encourages electric vehicles which on road which is just a wish today and second their political benifits on the other hand.

    1. 70 percent subsidies to agri= electricity. Problems more when no limits on subsidy. States can't pay to DISCOMS, then generators don't get money(Rs 1 lac crore). Costs of electricity increases. Load shedding also happens. DISCOMS can't do investments also. Rural electricity becomes rationed. Cross subsidy can increase power cost for industries.
    2. Banks also suffer as power generators can't pay them interests also. Costs of borrowing increases
    3. Inventory for fuel also decreases.
    4. Less employment in power sector and other sectors. Country becomes uncompetitive economically. Vietnam in fact charges domestic electricity more than industries.
    5. Even when states pay DISCOM, problems with their balance sheet.
6.Metering problems. Theft losses and technical losses are compressed on paper

Subsidy cause over use consumption of electricity in agriculture and also discoms lacking fund for research and development which requires for efficiency and cost reduction technique.

No thing is why this news channel is discussing it if any political party in any state is saying we will provide electricity 2-300 units to every household then let them do it they are promising it themselves so no issue only bjp is the one who didn't promise it yet all others are like give us votes we will whether it's up, uk or even Punjab
