This is absolutely studio reference in every respect. DSD decoding. As good as it gets.

    LINE-OUT OP-AMP:
"The AD8056 is natural, and has natural dynamic contrast and flow."
"In DIP packages, I can recommend the following:
LT1364 - The LT1364 has a special sound of its own, well worth a try.
OPA2228 - The OPA2228 is kind of a high-end pro-audio sound. It's warm, but snappy, with punchy bass slam.
AD826 - The AD826, hmm, some guys like it, but not my fave.
LME49720 - For boring-style clarity; it colours everything grey. It's the accountant's op-amp, in more ways than one.
Some of the NJR made op-amps measure good, but sound like a cheap firewater Tequila vs an Anejo, but some people like them, such as the NJM4560.
If we venture into the world of SOICs mounted on adapters the world gets a bit more interesting. For example: AD8397."

I have!! A bit old now but overall, I've switched to a very modern Motu Ultralight MK5. Look for Julian Krause on youtube for measurements!

Nice review. Do you know if the ss3601’s would still allow the shield to be installed?

Hmm, maaaybe. I can't say though, I had driver problems shortly after the video and since it is a USB soundcard basically, I sent it back.

Really liked your review, you seem to know what your talking about. I own a ae-5 would you upgrade to this card? i've been thinking about buying a modi schiit 3, would you recommend it?

I wish I could say man. I've moved away from this card because the drivers were a complete pain in the butt. It sounds amaaaazing however.
