I do the same thing. When my mom was still alive she called it "Flutter Cleaning " LMBO because she said I fluttered from one room to next and never finished anything. Drove her nuts. Lol
Wendy D I am the same way. One method I’ve heard is to set a timer for however long (10 or 15 minutes), and not leave that room until the timer goes off. Don’t leave the room to put something else away. Don’t leave the room to answer the phone, etc. 🤷🏽♀️ Seems juvenile but I’m trying it.

1-minute quick clean! I have a family of five, so we begin a timer in each room for 1 minute. Each of us does as much picking up and cleaning as we can before the 1-minute timer goes off. Once that goes off, it doesn't matter what still needs to be done, we move on to the next room. The magic of this is that I actually can get five minutes of cleaning in just one minute because of my family of five. So my entire house can get cleaned in under 15 minutes, which turns out to be 75 minutes of cleaning!!! Kids love it because it's a race! Teenagers love it because it doesn't take long. Mom loves it because the house is clean. Dad loves it.....well, because mom loves it🤣
Brittany, I love your videos. Your “one-touch-rule” that I started implementing after watching your video , literally changed my life. I am a single mom, and now me and both of my kids are using this tip for a while now and our home is clean 🥰 Now I will absolutely implement some of your tips from this video. Thank you! 🙌🏼
This year we started opening our mail as soon as we brought it in the house. Bills or things that need a response/follow-up get pinned on a certain board, family/friend cards get put on the fridge with a magnet, and everything else gets trashed right away so it doesn’t pile up. We used to save coupons and discount books, but we realized we never actual used them. 😊
Omg, I got chills! I grew up in a hoarder home too, but I was drawn to your channel and had no idea you did too. I think that's why your videos appeal to me so much. Every tiny bit of structure means SO much to me as an adult, even something like making a bed or organizing a bedroom.
Great video, Brittany; I love how you curated the best ideas from a variety of organizers into one video! Despite all the technology that has reduced the flood of paper into my life; keeping on top of paperwork is STILL my biggest organizational challenge! I’ve got the basics well under control, but I’m ready to take paperwork wrangling to the next level ... any ideas? Thanks. 😊♥️
I wanted to let you know that I’ve been watching cleaning/organizing videos for years and you were one of the first channels I found. Yes many people dont start becuade they are overwhelmed, i have been doing my home for about 6 months. Its overwhelmingly because its a learning curve. Its a lifestyle change. And thats why it can take time
Tiff Zilla ditto sometimes in between the parties, I think let’s clean for ourselves. We are a party just the two of us. But it’s also a great motivator to clean. 🎉
How to organize anything in 5 steps is a video I'll be definitely watching! My organizational challenges are makeup, skincare, and clothes. Excellent video. So helpful.
As someone who's suffered for well over 25 years with a disability, clutter is a huge issue & I always find your videos super uplifting and motivational! Those e-mail tips are fantastic too - TYSMFS!! 💖
I’m moving into my first home next month and I would LOVE tips on where to start organizing!! What rooms to do first, what spaces can be left for last, how to decide what goes where... I’m so overwhelmed just thinking about it!
Finding the perfect spot for stuff. I tend to just put things where there is space, towels and guest sheets with my clothes and tools in my linen closet 🤭
I desperately need to get rid of all the clutter in my home office and organize. Thank you so much for all your great videos. I love watching them.❤donna
I swear your videos are EVERYTHING. Im 20 yrs old, and i didnt know much about proper organizing, prioritizing, and minimalism before your videos. They have truely helped me a ton i feel like i learn more and more from each video you put out. Thank you so much for your incredible content 🙌👏👍
Try to accept and negotiate: you organize and the other person take care for an other thing. Think if you wanna be happy or have the things done in your own way. If this is not possible you be always frustrated and your relationship will suffer.
Try Marie Kondo's method. It is not "Will I need it/I might need it." The method is does it really bring me joy (with some exceptions like vacuums and brooms etc). Best to do it BY THE CATEGORY not the room.
emily mees It just doesn’t work for me. I tried it and all I can think about it whether I’m going to need it or not. Mostly stuff that goes in storage but I have to fit it all in my room.
I don’t know if this will help, my sister is a hoarder always saying I might need it or you might need it. I decided when I moved in my own place I would live minimal I try to keep telling myself if I can’t use it right now I’m not going to buy it or keep it I will give away or donate anything I’m not using. It’s not easy and sometimes therapy could help to find out why you have that mindset sometimes we don’t realize it that it was formed when we were very little. I hope the best for you.
Gao Youa Lee try this: could I borrow it, rent it or repurchase it for $20 or less if I really were to ever need it? If yes, let it go. My motto is “let the stores store it for you” lol.
You had a great idea there on organizing the junk email. Filtering & moving to a separate folder is a great way to later clear that folder out and limit the inbox to things I need to see. Thanks! Also once I got into a decluttering mindset, I find there are many tasks that I used to avoid that really don't take much time at all AND help me keep my peace about the space I live in. My new motto is "pick it up, put it away or throw it away - NOW!"
My biggest challenge right now is my small really messy pantry. Found yourself channel just a couple days ago and I’m hooked. Thanks for all the tips and tricks. Makes me a little more motivated to do it all.
Thank you Brittany! Your videos are always fabulous. I always learn something that helps my pocket and/or my peace of mind. I hope you are feeling well. xx
My depression and anxiety have been kind of out of control lately, so I find myself putting things down where they don't belong and forgetting about it a lot more. Also having teenagers is hindering my ability to be organized. We live in a very small house and don't really have many places to put our stuff to begin with, so things tend to clutter our living space.
Melissa Elliott Why not try doing as she said, make your stuff fit the space. Teenagers need to keep their stuff in their bedroom. Make it a rule and they need to clean up after themselves. It’s a start.
Your last tip about email and subscriptions changed my life!! Thankyou so much for Your videos I always get so much out of them but that really made life easier!
I used to struggle with this, but sometimes if something causes more of a headache to keep than the joy of the memory, I take a picture of it. That way I can look back on it and still have the memory without needing to hold on to the item.
I love your energy! Pray for me … I’m going to begin to implement all these tips this weekend!!! I’ve been challenged in every area of organizing most of my life. 2023 will be different!!! Ty
I struggle with lack of motivation. I also think I avoid cleaning so that I can think about how dirty my home is, so that I wouldn't have to think about other stuff that bothers me in my life overall.
If it helps, I have a little cart that fits in my laundry room where I have EVERYTHING I need to clean. With your problem, try to declutter and find a spot in your empty closets/cabinets for what you have left.
@@aribeltamayo6727 I have the same problem. I don't have cabinets, drawers, shelves, or closets. How can I get organized? It's not that I have too much stuff, it's that the place I currently live in is super tiny, no place to put anything, not even my Vitamix that sits on top of my fridge because there's no kitchen counter.
I just have to say I had a really bad day today and this video came up as all your videos do and it just put a smile on my face 😍. Thank you for being the sunshine in my very dark day
Lol Leanna ,that doesn't work for me, I wind up needing what I git rid of. So, I'm trying don't buy unless I absolutely don't have and need it and nothing I have can't substitute.
Gail Talley I agree with you! I know this TMI but I donated a bunch of 34C Victoria Secret bras because I gained weight and went up to 34D. But then I had my baby and after breastfeeding my lady friends shrunk 😄 and those 34C bras would’ve came in handy!
That gmail setting and folder is probably the best thing I’ve heard to organize my emails. I have a few for different hats I wear but I love that advice! Thanks♥️
This was gold! You are a professional Organizer for sure. Your email tip was my favorite. My favorite tip for organizing is finish the task at hand , so I don’t get overwhelmed and I feel I cleaned or organized at least one area.
My guest bedroom has turned into a storage area. When someone visits everything in the rest of the house gets cleaned up and put in the bedroom. Bad habit.
waffles we moved in our house 1.5 years ago and everything that didn’t have a home went in our spare room,a family member came to stay with us so we had no choice to empty it lol
Organizing/purging those areas that are "out of the way", such as closets, high cabinets, and storage units (like a sideboard or oversized coffee table). Areas that visitors can't see are so easy to dump in!
I just love watching your videos! They’re always full of useful tips and information. I struggle with organizing my house. Between so much paper, toys, and closet overload it’s a struggle. I mainly struggle with my large walk in closet that my hubby and I share.
Challenge: Apartment living - working from home/bedroom with 2 kids. 😂 Andddd a corner space for my sister to sew her stuff and paint/drawing area for kids.
Reduce the number of cups/bowls (1 set per kid), and get all of them the same kind so they can stack. We used to have entire cabinets full of kids plates and got rid of 90%, there's really no need for so many. If in doubt, put the extras in a box in the garage so you can grab them if needed
We recently put our 3 1/2 year old son’s plates/bowls/utensils/cups in a lower cupboard and organized them in bins. We have him grab them out himself before meal time. He’s loving the independence and they’re all staying organized in their little bins! 🤗
I need more tips on dishes. My family and I always come home to a kitchen with a countertop that is stacked with dishes. I would absolutely love a video for that.
Jasmin I tried that so many times. It never worked. Family members using other people's cups, bowls plates, etc. Drove me crazy. It sounds so good in theory but not practical for my family.
One tip I have for overcoming overwhelm is to commit to work on one thing for an achievable period of time, like 5-10 minutes. That's it! You will either end up becoming motivated and work on it a little longer, or you will stop after your set time. But 5-10 minutes is better than nothing and you will be making a difference each time. Think of the saying, "eating an elephant, one bite at a time."
I am LOVING your video! I consider myself a neat and clean person. Then I see your house. Fantastic, Immaculate, no shoe household. I had someone tell a co-worker today that if you are having a hard time with organizing at home watch some youtube videos about it. I am an animal hoarder. I have 60+ animals and realized what I'm doing but can''t get rid of any of them. I am taking appropriate care of all of them but barely as I'm being sucked of energy day and night from my situation. At one point I was working 7 days a week just to afford to feed and care for everything. Now with covid it's just extra stressors. I really want to do the right thing and possibly find homes for the many animals I've taken on. As a result its affecting my home, marriage and sanity. I really look forward to seeing ALL of your videos and if you have any advice I'd surely take it. Thank you!
You have changed my life! Brittany you are a Godsend. Thank you for helping me eliminate the irritations in my life and giving me solutions to problems i have been dragging through life like a ball and chain. You are WONDERFUL. Thank you for all your research.
I was like that until I started going to the laundromat and saw everyone there folding their clothes right away which then motivated me to do the same, plus it helps reduce wrinkles in clothing and less need to iron or steam clothes.
Noemi Villasenor I use to be like that when my kids lived at home and we had 10 billion loads of laundry ( mostly clean clothes) and walking into my kids rooms that were most time a disaster..oh and lack of closet space never helped
Have you considered putting organizer baskets in your drawers and just piling your clothes in the categorized baskets? That way, you might be able to find everything without having to fold anything.
I was the same until I bought a "clothes folding board" on Amazon for $20. I am embarrassed to say, I so enjoy how perfectly folded my clothes turn out, that I catch myself folding the entire families when my teens are supposed to be taking care of their own clothes!
Love this video and a,l your videos!! 💗 I’m a Distracted organizer/cleaners than I get overwhelmed and usual don’t finish anything 100%. I do love to turn on your video for motivation and tip/ideas etc...it has definitely helped me. Biggest challenges - Clothes, smalls space family heirlooms that I don’t really want to put around my house but I can’t really get rid of. Love when you share amazon/target/dollars store finds and deals.
I struggle a lot with not having a “home” for items that clutter up surfaces especially in the kitchen. I only have 3 drawers in my whole kitchen so I’m super limited on storage, but also use things regularly that I don’t want to keep elsewhere like the basement because that would be so inconvenient!
I’ve been watching your channel for hours 🥰 I’m so inspired to get my home perfectly organized and cleaned while we are quarantined. You have the most relaxing voice ☺️
Lots of great ideas! My favorite suggestions are the “Should I buy this” questions and putting away your items as soon as you walk in the door at home. I have a hard time getting my kids to help and to get in the habit of cleaning up after themselves.
My biggest struggle begins and ends with Kid’s items 😂 Their toys, cups, bowls, clothes.. they took over my entire house and I can’t find an organization system that works yet.
I like to call the first 5 rule the Mr. Rogers rule. At the beginning of each episode he always walks in and immediately puts his coat into the closet and his shoes in the exact same spot.

Oh my gosh me too!!! And now it’s completely overwhelming!
Organizing/purging those areas that are "out of the way", such as closets, high cabinets, and storage units (like a sideboard or oversized coffee table). Areas that visitors can't see are so easy to dump in!
Yaaaas I feel this too!!
I love how you see her thinking about where to throw the jacket and just ends up throwing it on the flowers lol
Getting my family totally involved and having fun doing
I just love watching your videos! They’re always full of useful tips and information. I struggle with organizing my house. Between so much paper, toys, and closet overload it’s a struggle. I mainly struggle with my large walk in closet that my hubby and I share.
Perfect timing for spring cleaning. I’ve been organizing a lot lately 😌
yes now is the time!!
Challenge: Apartment living - working from home/bedroom with 2 kids. 😂 Andddd a corner space for my sister to sew her stuff and paint/drawing area for kids.
OMG God bless you lol I work from home with a baby but you've hit a whole other level
Kab Lauj ❤️👍🏻
I love the way you walk through the door dramatically lol
I didnt even think of digital organization! My email is ALWAYS so full and overwhelming! Thanks for sharing!!
My biggest challenge right now is my garage!!!!! Love your videos! Congrats on your baby girl!!
My number one organizational challenge is my desk and paperwork!! I’ve been carrying around so many papers for about 5 years, it’s embarrassing!!
Melissa Bennett i am not alone then! 5 years here too more or less. Thank you for saying that! I must say though that they are ALL vertically stored 🤣
I am struggling with my kitchen 😫 all of my toddler’s cups and bowls are overwhelming
Hang in there. Remember it's just a season. They will be grown soon.
Ditto.
Reduce the number of cups/bowls (1 set per kid), and get all of them the same kind so they can stack. We used to have entire cabinets full of kids plates and got rid of 90%, there's really no need for so many. If in doubt, put the extras in a box in the garage so you can grab them if needed
My kitchen is so tiny , that I had to use the cabinets from the guests bathroom next to it 😂 LOL . And I still need place for storage ouch !
We recently put our 3 1/2 year old son’s plates/bowls/utensils/cups in a lower cupboard and organized them in bins. We have him grab them out himself before meal time. He’s loving the independence and they’re all staying organized in their little bins! 🤗
This is so relaxing to watch!!
I really appreciate the idea of letting the space define how much I can have!
So many gems in this video 💎 thank you! I love your email filtering idea 💡
I need more tips on dishes. My family and I always come home to a kitchen with a countertop that is stacked with dishes. I would absolutely love a video for that.
Throw extra dishes. Only keep enough for your family to eat off.
Jasmin I tried that so many times. It never worked. Family members using other people's cups, bowls plates, etc. Drove me crazy. It sounds so good in theory but not practical for my family.
My clothing in my closet has been so bad I definitely need to find a system to organize it all and declutter!
Overcoming overwhelm. I go from paralysis to wanting to throw everything out, or set on fire. 😯
Michele Topolosek Exactly!
Throw away a bunch of stuff. It feels so good
You are like my mom! She gets moments where she'd clean basement or garden shed and throw everything away
@@patteegee9506 yes, good idea. I guess I will just set a timer for 10 minutes and try.
I have a hard time with folding clothes after I do laundry, I usually pile it up in a laundry basket :/
Noemi Villasenor same! I just folded and put away 7 loads of laundry today 😭😭😭😭
4:30 lmao 😂 your humor is just the best - and mine would be doing my laundry and having limited space to put it up nicely 🧺
The term “clutter blind” immediately triggered me!
I struggle most with photos and sentimental items. Thanks for the tips! I’m especially excited to try the email suggestions.
Love this video and a,l your videos!! 💗
I’m a Distracted organizer/cleaners than I get overwhelmed and usual don’t finish anything 100%.
Nadia - The View Is Beautiful I don’t know how much floor space you have but maybe try a bar cart or something similar
"I certified myself" 😂😂 my garage is horrible and I'm pregnant too so I can't lift that much 😭
I’ve been watching your channel for hours 🥰 I’m so inspired to get my home perfectly organized and cleaned while we are quarantined. You have the most relaxing voice ☺️
There are some of the best tips I have heard of for organizing. Thanks for compiling/creating this!
I love the email tip! I like getting emails from certain stores for coupons etc... but I don’t want to see them all the time! What a great tip!
This is the fastest I've ever clicked on Brit's videos!! Yayyy!! Love love love these ideas!! :))
hiii! thanks for being early!
Current challenge: small appartment -kids stuff in living room. Is this chaos ever over?!
Fantastic video, the taking a photo go see is the best ever! The paperwork is definitely my pain n emails xx
Lots of great ideas! My favorite suggestions are the “Should I buy this” questions and putting away your items as soon as you walk in the door at home. I have a hard time getting my kids to help and to get in the habit of cleaning up after themselves.
My extra large bar that separates my dining and livingroom from my kitchen, it's a catch all and mail magnet
Alyssa Owen same here
Probably
My current problem is working with a ‘truely’ small kids room. My daughters share a small room and it’s hard to keep it clean and organized.
My biggest struggle begins and ends with Kid’s items 😂 Their toys, cups, bowls, clothes.. they took over my entire house and I can’t find an organization system that works yet.
Fantastic video! Super collaborative, creative, and most importantly, genuine!
Wow!! Amazing email organizing tips are awesome. Definitely would love closet organizing ideas.
Taking care of receipts and paid bills forms. I stack them up for months before I file them.
Patty James no need to file now, scan and create folders electronically .
