Eivør once told the story of this song. As a child she sometimes went upon a mountain to hide something and the next she does the same but gets the thing she hid. But once there was this mist upon this mountain and she did not know where to go home for many hours. This childhood memory is the story behind this song. In the Faroe Island in 30 minutes the weather can be stormy, sunny, rainy and foggy which is the reason why they have about 50 words for fog.
Eivor is from Faroe Islands, where the mist litterally can show up out of nowhere. So its quite understandable why mist is very common part of Faroese culture, and also understandable why Eivor chose to make a song of it. The terrain in Faroe Island is basically steep mountains, uphills and downhills. So it can get very tricky, if you happen to wonder in the mountains if caught in the mist..
I never knew there was an English version, as I've only heard the version with Faeroese lyrics, I Tokuni. I knew it meant into the mist, but didn't realize she'd also recorded it in English.
By the way, this song is based on a real case. She said that once she really got lost in the fog on the top of the mountain and could not find her way home for many hours.
Wrong version. You should listen to the original, called Í Tokuni. Yeah, you won't understand the lyrics, but that's kind of the thing, that makes it even more mysterious.
Wow...so cool 😁 Can you also make a reaction to Eivor - True Love ruclips.net/video/yJL39PFjMXM/видео.html A beautiful video. Absolutely deep and sad. The song is the result of a short story. A woman falls in love with death in person and death falls in love with her. But since she is alive and he is not, they cannot come together. The tragedy takes its course. Absolutely worth seeing.
Just so you know, chanting in another language doesn't make something demonic, but I'm glad you're at least open minded enough to give it a listen anyway. Her voice reminds me of another artist known as Kerli, an Estonian artist, you should give her a listen to.
Yeah! I have to agree with that. The musical arrangement is very similar, but the soul of the song is in the original, faroese lyrics. This feels more like a light version...
Best reaction I have seen !! Dude AWSOME !!! Thanks :))
This is just amazing! Love this style of music! Haunting and beautiful.

You have to hear the original in faroer language. Btw It looks and feels a bit like frozen of madonna... but way... way better.
I agree! For the start atleast to start in Faroese

Marcin - Sweet Dreams on One Guitar (Official Video) - PLEASE!!!
The original version in Faroese is much better, in my opinion, though, her english version are good but in her language are more mystical and dark.
I agree , it's much better
