    PCS-250 Powder Coating Gun
    The Eastwood PCS-250 Dual-Voltage HotCoat™ Powder Coating Gun gives you complete coverage from tight areas to large surfaces while operating on standard 120v household current. This innovative system will allow you to achieve the benefits of powder coating small parts instead of coating them with paint. This new and improved dual-voltage system gives you the capability to coat small areas using the low 15kv setting or coat large areas using the high-voltage setting 25kv. All you need is a compressed air source (5-10 PSI from a portable tank with a regulator or a compressor) to power your gun, an electric oven or toaster oven to cure the finish and a well-ventilated workspace in which to do your coating. This new and improved gun features color-coded cabling, larger ground clamp, increased trigger room and a clear bottle so you can see the powder color and fluidizing action.
    Features:
    Extremely durable finish
    Coat and cure in under an hour!
    Easy to apply
    Quick color changes
    Economical
    Operates on standard 120v / 60Hz household current
    Versatility with two settings for improved coverage
    Low 15,000-volt setting
    High 25,000-volt setting for multi-coat coverage over larger areas
    Increased powder adhesion
    Minimal overspray
    Color-Coded cables for easy setup
    More trigger-room for additional comfort
    Larger ground clamp
    Clear bottle allows you to see powder color, level and fluidizing action
    Larger internal passages for improved powder flow
    Refined power supply for more consistent coverage and powder-build
    The PCS-150 Single Voltage Powder Coating System brings the benefits of powder coating right to your home garage or shop.

    This innovative, inexpensive powder-coat gun helps you do a professional-looking powder coating job right at home. All you need to add is compressed air (5-10psi), a dedicated electric oven and your favorite powder.
    Why powder coat? Because it gives you one of the most economical, color-durable, and longest-lasting finishes available. You'll find powder-coated surfaces are far more resistant to chipping, scratches, fading, and wear than other finishes, and the color selection is virtually unlimited, with high and low gloss, metallic, and clear finishes available. And thanks to the UV resistance of many of the powders, colors stay bright and vibrant longer. Texture selections range from smooth surfaces to a wrinkled or matte finish, plus rough textures designed for hiding surface imperfections.
    One 8-oz. bottle of powder (not included) covers the same area as 2-3 cans of spray paint, and clean-up is easy, since you can simply sweep-up the oversprayed powder. Contains no environmentally harmful solvents. HotCoat powder coating requires a 5-10psi compressed air source and dedicated electric oven (or toaster oven).

    This is a great video and I really appreciate it. One thing I dont understand is why we can use a device using 15,000 V to 100,000 V to apply the powder but it is unsafe to use a 120 V appliance to clean up the powder off the floor. Im wanting to begin powder coating. The two biggest issues I need to work out are oven and clean up.

    • @petergraphix6740

      Because the powder coating system is typically operating in a grounded state as a single system. That is your gun and the part have the a similar voltage potential which limits the energy transfer in any potential sparks.
      When it comes to the vacuum you're not dealing with the 120V system sparking. Instead the vacuum imparts energy into the dust leading to the system behaving like a capacitor and storing a very large amount of energy. Even then this will most often discharge without you ever being aware that it happened and no fire. Until that day you get a bit lazy and let a lot of dust build up, then the spark happens to occur right where the correct fuel air mixture exists. This flame wave front blasts more powder in front of it up into the air causing a massive deflagration and your shop burns to the ground.

On my older unit i had to make my own seal to stop the powder from seeping through the canister and threading of the gun..so much powder wasted.

    what kind of powdercoat are you using on engine parts that are a high heat part? What is the best way to powdercoat a 55 gallon drum for a smoker?
    Great video BTW!

    • @eastwoodco
      @eastwoodco  Год назад +1

      Hey thanks, Indy,
      Powder is designed to "flow out" (basically, it just melts) at 400F, right. As long as you're not getting close to that hot, you'll be ok.
      So for a smoker, you're looking at about 250F - 275F max, right? At that temp, any of our powder is going to be rock solid.
      For really high heat, we have high-temp paints that will hold up to 650F, but valve covers, wheels, springs, and most underhood components don't get near the 400F required to re-melt powder.

    QUESTION: is it viable to use two powder coating guns in one target? Like for example a car rim or bigger target? If so, does it both requires to be grounded to the target, or one gun is enough to be connected and be grounded to the target?

    • @eastwoodco
      @eastwoodco  2 года назад +3

      I suppose you could? I don't think it's viable though. Once the part is 100% covered in powder, you're done. 1 gun is more than capable of 100% coverage on larger parts. Maybe if you really wanted to coat things quickly, but there's really no reason to rush with powder coating.
      It doesn't matter where your ground comes from. Stick a copper rod into the earth and ground off of that if you want. As long as the part is grounded, the charged cloud of powder will want to stick to it.

    Ive been using the dual voltage system for about a month, and im so so happy with it. I want to get the nicer psc1000 because if the gun I have is doing this great of a job I could only imagine how good the psc1000 would be. However it is a bit pricey and im not totally sure if buying the gun is worth it because I've found it really easy to buy a handful of those bottles and just fill them with powder and screw them onto the gun when I need a new one and I find that really simple and cheap. So I mean to ask is the psc1000 worth it. Because I can say for sure that the dual voltage gun was worth every single penny spent on it.

    • @DonkeyBong490
      @DonkeyBong490 3 года назад +3

      The PCS1000 is actually REALLY shitty and 100% not worth the price. Get a Hypersmooth or even a EZ-50 is better. We have amazing results with our EZ-50 as a backup, far better than any Eastwood or entry level gun in that range can do.

      @DonkeyBong490 3 года назад

      @@aaronwhaley1271 Yes, it really is a great little gun that we use often. It does multi coat much better than the Eastwood offerings and it's far more affordable. A proper grounding rod set up will make a huge difference from what you are used to with your dual voltage gun in terms of adherence into those faraday cage areas.

    Do you have to strip the chrome off a fishing guide and there's a piece of plastic ring in it?

    • @eastwoodco
      @eastwoodco  2 года назад +1

      You'll have to strip off any chrome in order for the powder to stick. Also, that plastic ring will (probably) melt in the 400 degree F baking process. I'd try gently popping it out of the guide. Hopefully it isn't glued in.
