- The #Cowboys and QB Dak Prescott have a mutual understanding of his contract situation, sources say, with no offers from Dallas despite him being in a contract year. Owner Jerry Jones said, “We are where we are, locked and loaded for this year.”
No indication a deal is coming.
Per the team, Dak Prescott and the Cowboys have had extension discussions but it is “not a pressurized situation for either at this point.”
The door remains open for a deal to get done this offseason or during the 2024 season, but there is no urgency as of now....

I'm ok with them wanting to see what they have in Trey but if they plan on letting Dak walk why not just cut him now and deal with the cap hit since they already dealing with his cap hit anyway, give Trey this year to see what he does and if that fails at least you're in a good position for a high draft pick if we have a bad season.

This season is clearly a precursor to a complete rebuild in '25. They will build around the remaining core stars like Lamb, Parsons, D-law, Martin, Smith, Diggs and Bland. They're giving everyone a one year chance to get it done and if not the cupboards will be emptied including the HC and QB. So for me the expectations couldn't be lower so anything above 9 wins and at least a WC appearance will be a welcome surprise. No pressure.......let's just see what they can and will do.

My problem is i have never seen Dak play a playoff game at a high level from the beginning of the game. Most of his best games have been when trailing by a lot. Its hard for an orginization to get excited about making a qb 1 of the highest paid just to play in 1 more game than teams that didnt make the playoffs. Cant blame the Jones family at all.

This front office is always 4 steps behind practically every other front office in the NFL. So it's a 'prove it' year but w/ multiple holes & zero depth, that this front office created? Aikman was Jimmy's pick, Romo was Sean Payton, and the Cowboys lucked into Dak because their other two choices, Paxton Lynch and Connor Cook were taken by other teams so the Cowboys lucked out with having to settle with Dak.
