Rup7ur3 Strygwyr I believe Walter is looking to reform bonsai and to that I say "Go for it!". I know he has reformed my way of doing bonsai and my trres are better for it.

OMG Walter you are such a story teller i was in the woods with the old trees, and believe me everybody would be thrilled to have a work shop with you. Dare I say you are old school and the new school could learn so much from you.
Brian Kavanagh Walter is a wonderful teacher. I never miss a chance to take a workshop with him. He puts everyone at ease, tells fun stories, and provides valuable assistance . All bonsai students can learn a lot from this great man.
I have a few wild ones not half as good as your's Sebastian and if someone will ask what style they are in...I might say... the Sandev style! I am that impressed by your big little trees! 👏👏👏 And I can't stop watching them HIHI!!! 👌🤩 Cheers, Hans van Meer.
„They are getting something else“….“fairy tale“ bonsais…we never must forget that a tree made into bonsai is a „tortured“ one, fighting for survival and struggling for its wildness, it is a symbol for life à la Hemingway. I think, getting something else means getting a SOUL.
Yes, these should be one of the first examples of European style potted tree... call it whatever! fairytale is a good name though! What are the dimensions? how can we follow the progress?

It's easy to know why some parts of the trunk are dead. Big scars on trunks exposed to for many years at bad weather will create very beautiful and natural holes, certainly, but with time the wood inside will start to rot. After that you will have a characteristic hollow trunks. So beautiful and dramatic, for sure, but the health of the tree is starting to get worse. And with time is sure that you will lost a part or the entire tree. In this case you get a better tree than before, very beautiful, but in other case? And for how many time do you will enjoy it? Is this fairytale style bonsai? To sacrifice the health of the trees in favor of dramatic effect?
I've seen thousands of bonsai and this one is my favorite. I come back to this video often.
