Most of you guys have seen on Instagram that we’ve been using the dump all this week. Absolutely a game changer for us. Couldn’t be happier (so far!). Do you guys run one of these or are you thinking about adding one? Lemmmme know!
my dad has a. F150 And has his own lawn care and working for DHS but he is looking in to it and he wants to get one but he doesn’t know how if he should buy one
I installed a Pierce Arrow bed lifter/dumper. It coverts your original truck bed into a dump bed. So your truck still looks like a normal pickup truck, but you get the added benefit of it being a dump bed. I love it, I do not run a business, but I do a lot of landscaping at my own place and my friends and families places. Adding the dump bed feature has really made loading/unloading very easy.
I notice a plow on the front as well. That has to be a lot of extra weight on the truck. Did you have to add leaf springs or anything else to be able to handle the increase in weight to the truck?
@@BriansLawnMaintenance Cool I have been looking at a dump trailer but have a good trailer already and just haven't been able to bring myself to spend the 8k on the one I was looking at. But this would be a good option. It isn't as big as a trailer but I think would be more convenient.
I may have missed a video where you showed your window sticker for your truck but did you get the 5th wheel prep package? Also curious if you got the snowplow/camper prep and if it was beneficial for your plow and dump insert.
@@BriansLawnMaintenance ok I ask about the 5th wheel prep mainly because I seen in the video where you visited Lica and you reviewed both his dump insert and yours and I heard you mention that they used your 5th wheel spot to hook up yours so just trying to decide what I need to spend the extra on and not. Not gonna lie bro but your business model fits what I'm tryin to do so your vids and advice here on RUclips have been worth more to me than I could ever repay you. Foster Lawn Services is my company based in Sedalia, MO.
Dipping in to the archives here. I'm pulling the trigger on a 6' dump insert very soon. Wanted to get your point of view on them. I'm in North Canton, Ohio... so a trip to Buyers in Cleveland would be way convenient. I'm super pumped about getting one👍 Thanks😎
I bought a dump trailer a few years ago and love it. This would be nice for mowing and leaf cleanups for the ones that don’t need the dump trailer. Is this easy to take out of the truck so you can put an in bed salter?
THUNDAH....Haha.... I have never commented, but had to after seeing your plates. I love your videos, makes me want to leave my job and start a lawn care company! Thanks for all of the info that you give us!
Hi Brain, great video's man. I am thinking about getting a dump insert too. I have 2015 F250. What did you do with the back up cam? Is there an option to have that mounted on the insert since the tailgate is off? Keep up the great work!
We got one from Camera Source. I mounted it to the underside of the dump. Check out our “$245 in 1.5 hr” clean up video from last fall, we did a walk around / lite review on it. Mine is the non-heated version!
Yes, please do a follow up video on your dump bed! A comparison between the steel dump / stainless steel dump bed would be Awesome! Thank you for taking the time to make this video Brian! 👍👍
Congratulations you have worked hard for it. Its 11 degrees in pa and I am still doing clean ups. This will be my next purchase. Happy holidays to you and your family. Be safe...
@@BriansLawnMaintenance 10mpgs !??? thats actually not that bad considering you pull a 16ft enclosed 8.5 wide and you have all that extra power.. i have a f150 ecoboost 2016 i pull an open 16ft 48' and 52' all the hand tools blowers, i get 13.00mpg avg i hate it for 3mpgs less an all that better suspension n power is way worth it in my opinion smh
What kind of warranty? I have one. Put higher sides on it didn’t know warranty issue. Haul mostly brush/chips/mulch in it. Wouldn’t fill that high with heavy load because truck couldn’t handle it though.
Brian's Lawn Maintenance rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.ca%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F192607833078 I installed one on my dump it great. You don’t have to get out of the truck.
Now you need to add some strobes since your lightbar will be blocked. Led hideaways in reverse lights. Hopefully the bumper doesn't get destroyed by the material you dump. Camera got eliminated right?
So are you going to get a leaf loader? I feel like the dump insert makes sense but to be efficient with leaves both on capacity and just getting them into the truck you need something to mulch them up/ get them onto the truck.
Is “gravity down” an option? I was looking at dump trailers that had that and thought it was pretty slick that even if the trailer looses power for whatever reason you can still get the dump bed down by using the gravity down feature. I know it’s on a truck. But still. If you’re mid dump and the truck breaks down. How would you get the dump bed down for safe towing?
no time to watch ( between half frozen leaf jobs myself ), but does it create a new bottleneck in increased loading time and effort? and how about space, in comparison with a 12 or 14 foot utility or dump trailer?
Nice idea but....... why aren't the chains on the inside? And why aren't the release pins/pegs mounted on the tailgate to save room on the corner posts and so they don't stick out sideways? Genuinely interested, you use it all the time so you'll likely know why. Also, not that it'll matter too much to you as you're only carrying leaf litter/tree debris but how much does it reduce your trucks rear axle payload by?
I’ve had one for a few years now. Works great for grass and leaves and mulch. Caution in the winter if you have snow blower in back it’s very slippery. For dirt/rock I don’t put more than 1 yd at a time in, and make sure it’s loaded in center, having only one cylinder it’s a lot of stress on it specially if not loaded even.I wouldn’t go higher than one 2x12 one sides if your having to throw your bags into truck to unload. For leaves I have a leaf vac system on Trailer and put 8ft sides on truck. Again it’s a time saver/money maker and you’ll love it
Brian's Lawn Maintenance Brian's Lawn Maintenance I have mine inside my cab, I had to remove a grommet from backside of cab and used same spot on bed of truck that ran all wiring to front. Only down side is cable is not that long. So having a full cab on your truck might not reach you in the front. I have 8ft bed and standard cab so I can operate mine in driver seat. Perhaps you could run it through left side of bed opposite of all wiring, should be a grommet there as well and get it closer to drivers seat
u do know u can adjust the speed and how soft or hard the plow falls...also u know to use needle nose grease head to grease center hinges between both blades. theres a little hole in each hinge. keep an eye on fluid level too, i noticed two plows at work low
was looking at a dump insert but for the price and the minimum payload capacity it has turned me off. probably just buy a dump trailer and build a box on it with a leaf loader for curb side pickup. take the sides off during the summer season for the landscape work.
Very cool. I am trying to decide between a dump insert and a dump trailer. I like the dump trailer because it holds more and it is lower to the ground but I also like the price point of a dump insert. When your insert is empty can you notice the weight of it when you are driving?
My opinion would be the dump trailer for more room, less weight/better fuel economy, easier to park when not in use. This is probably cheaper and would work great if you don't have a need to haul much or much extra space for now, but in this business there will probably be times when you could definitely use the extra space. Btw, it's 1am now in NC and so I'm tired. If you'd like more of my opinion, just let me know before I waste too much time😉.

We did with Alex Lica
Did you have to add any leaf springs or add air bags
Wow you screwd into that truck??? God bless u
Sure did
does the hidge plate at the end dip down a little bit to compensate the plastic bedliner's ridges? How thick is the angle iron frame?

Nope she holds it all just fine!
How many yards of mulch u get in
3-4 usually
Please explain that license plate

How much weight can you put in there?
Not entirely sure
What did you do about the reverse camera?
We have a new backup camera from camera source
How many yards of mulch have you been able to fit in this dump insert after you add the 2x12’s?
4!
So now that you have been using this for a while do you have any pros or cons to report?
Honest, no cons yet. I really like it

It’s better than having to maneuver a trailer. The problem is, you have to physically modify your pick up.

I have had one for 2 years and it was one of the best investments I made at that time and still today.

5.5” I believe

We use aluminium scaffolding planks for hog boards then dont root or sock up water.
Karl Pokorny are you referring to the boards on the side. Where do you get them ?
I am in Australia we get them from companys like capral aluminium
Is there space for a toolbox in front of the dump bed?
Nah not really
You could box in the dump for leaf vac or chipper. Looks great. Do you know the weight limit that dump can handle?
I don’t sorry
Like to see i board side. Get more weight than you think.
You got a dump truck with regulator truck and can take it off when not needed.
Why not install the controller in the cab?!?
This way I can see where the tailgate is. Don’t need it smacking a bumper or the hitch.
