The steps in this video worked perfectly! I went from 6GB RAM to 32GB and changed out the HDD drive for SSD. Runs like new! Thanks!

I have been searching to clone my system to the very same ssd and after days of trying other software and not being able to install it.
I found you video and installed the Samsung software to clone my laptops hard drive to my evo ssd and it was simpler then I thought.
I left it cloning and when I came home from a 12 day at work.
My laptop was off.i turned it back on and checked the ssd and turned off the laptop and installed the ssd turned the laptop back on and it worked!
I didn't have to do anything to the laptop. It simply booted really fast and I was so 😊😊😊😊😊.
It was my first time doing this ever. So I feel accomplished

This is an excellent video to show exactly how to take apart the laptop and get to the hard drive. It was quick and easy to follow! I tried the data migration software first but it didn't work for me so I ended up using Macrium Reflect (30 day trial) to get the drive cloned and it worked great. Now I have a way faster laptop. Thanks Dale!

I used your help from this video done the ssd 870 QVO 2TB, 32GB ram ddr4, also swapped the motherboard to the i7-7500 3.5ghz cpu. It's pretty peppy now I love the performance.

    nice video
Everyone should remember to turn device encryption back on again afterwards (and any services disabled prior to clone).

Spent life and career as a Computer Technician. All kinds except laptops. Just Spent 2 thousand dollars on a gaming laptop at Best Buy. I knew I would eventually want upgrades for memory, CPU, and SSD. It seemed a little expensive for Warranty/ Maintenance for $200 but being a laptop virgin I thought it would be a safe and good idea/ insurance. I definitely will be doing research and checking reviews for Geek Squad. I have watched a ton of videos and am technically very good But humble enough to know sometimes being beginner can be a tough thing! So I watch and learn feeling like I am back in school.

Happy new year Dale, you can turn off your wifi before you clone to another disk and or turn off your antivirus software too.

So tips on Dr. Dale has provided: 1) When you turn off encryption walk away from your computer, dont touch anything. It can take hours before the screen says anything is happening. 2) Chkdsk /R, same, patience is a virtue when doing this. Start it, walk away for at least an hour. 3) Ribbon Cables - Absolutely the trickiest thing, if you think the drive is bad, it probably isnt, it probably is you seated the ribbon cable poorly, same with the CDROM drive. Yep you may have to take the machine apart again. If you dont have the patience have someone else do this for you, but if you follow each instruction Dr. Dale gives, it will work and the improvement in speed for a $100 SSD is absolutely amazing. Even on an I3 Intal.

I want to clone a 1TB SSD from Dell in my Inspiron 15 7000 2-in-1 model. Could you let me know the software that I should use for Data Migration, unlike the Samsung Data Migration software that you have used.

Hi Dale, great video. A question if I may: I have an Inspiron 17 3000 (3793) with a small 128Gb Dell SSD Drive for the operating system etc... Can I use the Samsung Magician Software to clone the existing Dell 128Gb Drive over to a Dell M.2 PCIe NVME Gen 3x4 Class 35 2230 Solid State Drive - 512GB. In other words, can the Samsung Magician Software clone any SSD, or does one of the drives need to be for example in your Video a Samsung Drive? Thanks in advance.

Can the same Samsung software be used with any other brand of SSD's or is it proprietary to Samsung SSDs? Thanks

Hi. It is only for samsung drives. All the different manufacturers have their own free cloning software. Like Acroins True Image for example.

I would to know if I can clone to a M2 NVMe SSD from another brand (for example, Adata or Sandisk) using Samsung Data Migration Software? Or Samsung Data Migration Software just clone Samsung's M2 NVMe SSDs?

    Greetings,
How do you find out what is the Maximum memory that your laptop can take? Thank you

8 GB is pretty marginal for WIn10, IMO....; I have enough cloud storage apps, etc., where just after bootup, I am frequently at 6-7 GB of RAM already used..

  • @Veightsc

How did you overcome the Dell's encrypted 'Recovery Partition' part? I'd tried different cloning softwares and none could clone that partition, so my cloned SSD wouldn't boot. Unless, either your Dell hard drive didn't come with a 'Recovery Partition', or the Samsung cloning software did all that for you.

    • @CadillacComputerCenter
      @CadillacComputerCenter  2 года назад

Hi. You must disable device encryption prior to cloning. You can turn it back on once cloning is done on new drive. Samsung cloning software will clone all partitions.

@@CadillacComputerCenter Thanks for replying. I did turn off encryption before cloning but it only turned off the C: partition but not the Recovery Partition. If you know how to turn off the Recovery Partition encryption, please let me know. Thanks.

It's like Dell went out of their way to make it difficult to disassemble to get to even the drive....; ridiculous compared to some where the entire back cover is held on by one screw!
