This was a special and unique performance with the addition of strings. Metallica asked The Warning to cover "Enter Sandman" in collaboration with Canadian pop singer Alessia Cara for "The Metallica Blacklist" album, released to celebrate the 30th anniversary of "The Black Album" in 2021. According to Lars Ulrich, they told all the bands involved, "Pick a song. Do what you want with it. If you want to play it backwards or turn it on its head, we respect and appreciate it." The Warning and Alessia composed and recorded their version in just 10 days. Producer Matt Squire flew to Monterrey to oversee the process, while Alessia recorded her parts remotely from Canada due to COVID restrictions. The band worked late into the night brainstorming ideas, reworking the melody, and removing the iconic riff to give the song their own twist. They emphasized the haunting "Hush Little Baby" section, with Alessia’s harmonies adding depth to the arrangement. The official music video features Alessia as a projection since she couldn’t travel, but her "whoa, whoa" vocals remain part of the backing track during live performances.
The Warning’s history with "Enter Sandman" dates back to 2014, when Dany was 14, Pau was 12, and Ale was just 9. They recorded a straight cover and uploaded it to RUclips because the file was too big to email to their family. That video went viral and currently has over 26 million views. Metallica's guitarist Kirk Hammett even tweeted, "the drummer kicks maximum ass!" They performed their version of the song live with Alessia once as a special one-time event. Another great performance of their version, without the string section, was at Teatro Metropolitan in 2022.

Pau is also lead vocals, but is usually behind the drums, but she still rocks it...

There are a number of versions of this re-imagining. It’s not even really a cover,
it’s Enter Sandman v.2. I won’t repeat all the details, but you really should check out the OMV and the Teatro Metropolitan performances. They are each unique in their own way and worth watching. You can just watch on your own since you already reacted to it, or of course we’ll watch it with you 😅

This version is actually the demented lullaby the song was meant to be.
The Warning Enter Sandman- There are 4 version…. and you just saw #4.
In 2014 these 3 little girls from Mexico made a video to send to their grandparents to show them how they have progress in their music skills. The video was too big to just email so their dad posted it on RUclips and sent the grandparents the link. It went viral and was seen by Metallica (they gave a shout-out saying “That drummer kicks maximum ass!”). It was also seen my Ellen DeGeneres (prompting her to get them on her show in 2015). It has since garnered well over 25 million views. This is the 2014 version of Enter Sandman: ruclips.net/video/1boUYB9LFJY/видео.html
In 2021 Metallica asked 53 artists to take any of the 12 iconic songs from their Black album and do a cover (any way they wanted to) for their Black List album, commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Black album. Alessia Cara (Canadian pop star) was asked to participate but had no idea what to do. Because she shares the same management group as The Warning, she contacted them for help. It was difficult to do as Alessia was in Canada and The Warning were in Mexico and travel with COVID was not happening. They made it work and developed/recorded this completely re-imagined song in one week. They created the music video with the same logistical restrictions. Because of that you will see that Alessia appears as a projection on the wall in the video as she was not there. It was recorded in an abandoned textile mill outside of Monterrey, Mexico. Here is the official music video: ruclips.net/video/9tKQgesCcTc/видео.html
When The Warning sings this in live concerts this is the version they do with Alessia Cara’s background vocals: ruclips.net/video/vg9vNE7gm0I/видео.html
For The Warning’s 10th anniversary concert they created this extra special version of Enter Sandman: ruclips.net/video/-stoqv5W8RM/видео.html

First track on Metallica's Blacklist album released September 10, 2021. Metallica requested a different take on the song and we sure got a great one. I heard it was "created" in 10 days.

You should check out their performance of this (without strings) from Teatro Metropolitan, it isn’t as epic as this but I think it actually sounds harder. You don’t have to record your reaction but we’d watch if you did. 🤓⚡️🤘
