Ok, so there are two ways to see this: Either Tyrande broke some kinda seal to free him OR Illidan stayed in his prison willingly fully capable of breaking his prison, which has.... a LOT of interesting implications...
In the novel, Illidan is mostly bound by the enchantments that guard the prison, and is incapable of using or chanelling magic, and their are even enchantments to keep him from killing himself. As Tyrande kills the guards that maintain the spells, they weaken and he immediately notices, and as the enchantment's powers fade, he summons his glaives to him from outside the cell - they had been hung on a wall. (Which is common to do with weapons like that as seen throughout the gameplay). So when he realizes he is actually being broken free, he does his second bit of casting and flexing of his returned power since the wards broke: busting them doors off the hinges.
It's possible he was aware that there was an army of wardens outside waiting for him, on top of breaking free himself, he'd need to kill them, which might be asking overly much on his own. Tyrande was kind of enough to remove those issues. On top of one of Cenarius' sons being there.
Malfurion never hated Illidan. Also, its not exactly like Malfurion saw the battle or the moment prior: he saw his brother consumed again by demonic power that canonically fucks with your mind. If he hated Illidan, he would have had him killed.

activision-blizzard doesn't care about that sort of thing, only money and how to make it. The old blizzard from a decade ago might've cared, but not activision-blizzard.
Blizzard had all the cool details in Starcraft 2. I don’t see why they can’t do it in Warcraft 3 Reforged. They could possibly add new campaigns to further the story to World of Warcraft.

He loves Tyrande and doesnt hate Malfurion, just thinks he is wrong... And actually, even after getting the skull, he can't overpower Malfurion and Tyrande together
Funny how Arthas stated that they were both equally matched, but when Illidan absorbed the Skull of Guldan, he was not more powerful than Arthas. Then Illidan lost the battle to Arthas at Icecrown.
Arthas got a temporary buff from NerZhul when he fought Illidan. Nerzhul channeled all of the power he had into Arthas so he could take Illidan out and ascend the Frozen Throne. The Arthas novel does a way better job of narrating that fight. Illidan was mopping the floor with Arthas and got cocky while Arthas was in pain and he left himself open. Nerzhul then told him to stfu and swing and Arthas landed a lucky hit. Arthas is my fav Warcraft character but Illidan was absolutely the more powerful of the two at that point in time. I want to say Arthas was the better fighter though by a long shot.
back when Warcraft 3 Frozen throne i was very young and i thought illidan Was the main villian that needs to be prisoned, but watching this after almost 10 year tells me that Malfurion and maiev was the villain.
Really? My thought when first playing the original Warcraft 3 was Illidan was a hero. Malfurion was just being a jerk. Then Malfurion was working to destroy the threat to all of Azeroth by taking down the Scourage.
Having read the War of the Ancients trilogy, it really saddens me how Malfurion feels towards Illidan despite Illidan still being ultimately good. Illidan fucking served Sargeras for the wellbeing of Azeroth and to give a force that is dedicated at fighting the Burning Legion.
Before obtaining the skull llidan points out that he will be stronger than any of the generals of Archimond. So his lust for power is always because he is ready to sacrifice anything if it brings an end to The Burning Legion.
Illidan has always hungered for magic and power but it was always a means to an end for him. At first it was to win the approval of Tyrande and validate himself within society and then when the war of the ancients started and demons invaded it shifted to defeating the legion. If absorbing the skull of Guldan allows for him to gain great power than it is a sacrifice he is willing to make.
So sad. Illidan could have lived a better life if he had only destroyed Guldan's skull. I think 90% that he might even get Tyrande with this. Malfurion is asleep anyway. Tyrande told Malfurion that she had protected the forest for all the years he slept. She could have protected the forest with Illidan if he had been a night elf hero, and realise how much Illidan loved her. both have a sharp character and passion would be colossal.
Arthas was evenly matched with Illidan when he was riding Invincible and wielded Frostmourne in 1 hand. I feel like Illidan would be fucking destroyed if that idiot actually got off that horse.
No, that is not what Arthas was pointing out. It could have been skill that Arthas was talking about. We all know that Illidan was stronger when he absorbed Gul'dan's skull. It was just that Arthas got the upper hand in that final battle.
Because Blizzard writing was this bad all the time. It didn't became bad with latest expansion, it was bad from the begining, but then the purpose of games and movies were to be entertaining, not to be disected.
adianblabla ummm... no it’s because that’s what it looked like to Malfurion. Malf is not exactly the most reliable of narrators. Just because a character says something doesn’t make it true. That’s actually *good* writing. It means there are actual characters instead of humanoid-shaped exposition devices. What Illidan actually did, is consumed Gul’dan’s soul. So now he has a demon and a warlock whispering to him. So something equally stupid if perhaps qualitatively different. After consuming the skull of Gul’dan, Illidan became much more unnecessarily cruel which led to him getting murdered. So, in hindsight, not the smartest move Illidan. Though to be fair to him, he was talked into it by Arthas.
Because 1) this was the early stage of writing the night elves and bits like this were just left out later 2) because Malfunction was just being self-righteous and holier-than-thou.
If this was realistic, Illidan wouldn't even know how to talk. Illidan: *random feral Elder Scrolls troll sounds* Tyrande: "Uh... Illidan are you okay? Oh shit, you've been imprisoned for 10,000 years. You probably had forgotten how to talk. SHIT!"
This is only one of the rare instances where a demon hunter and a death knight agreed to a certain matter. The only time Arthas set foot in Kalimdor. He should've realized he was wrong all along and the prophet's words were true
Like others have said, nothing will remove the fact that Warcraft III and its story are still highly valued. Reforged might be disappointing remaster but Warcraft III is still otherwise great game
While i like Illidan's character, let's not make the boy out to be some grand martyr for his people . He isn't...He killed mages with for big flashy spells and justified it the end justifies the means. Went out of his way to kind of cut down his brother and wanted Tyrande for himself and hence he used that as a catalyst for everything he did to show he could do things bigger and better and more efficient than MAlfurion could. But he was always taking too many shortcuts. And no one sees that, while Malfurion proved that waiting was better for the long run and it paid off , as long as the elves had the well and just bided their time most of their adversaries died of natural causes and the rivalry long forgotten ....except Sargeras. And this is where i agree with Malfurion, after so many years of fighting and at one point at risk of losing their immortality, Illidan made a new well ( YAY!!!) But became a demon ( BOOO!))) Illidan should've been studying or experimenting with his power , all that time and he could've gotten way stronger than that puny demon form but he embraced it. ( and he had the skull of Ghul'dan that had him lose his mind, in any game or campaign or DnD in general DO NOT PICK UP SHINIES!!!)) Granted later on after timeline shenanigans this was retconned and he recognized his hubris and did not want to forget them or make it seem like it never happened...which good on him. But don't make it seem like he did all this for the good of his people. It really wasn't...it was all a dick measuring contest that he picked all the wrong dialogue choices in the romance option and was wondering "WHAT WENT WRONG!?" Uh you're a dick, narcissist and instead of a 7 ft + elf (A+ for an elf woman on size btw XD) You're a demon ( F for what the fuck were you thinking, elves HATE demons!) He loves Tyrande and doesnt hate Malfurion, just thinks he is wrong...
@@DarkSlayer487 how can he feel pain? he's undead
back when Warcraft 3 Frozen throne i was very young and i thought illidan Was the main villian that needs to be prisoned, but watching this after almost 10 year tells me that Malfurion and maiev was the villain.
I think that hurt lillidan when tyranda say "My love to malfourion"
Illidan is the most powerful simp to ever tread Azeroth, and simultaneously the victim of the worst brother in 10000 years
Arthas was evenly matched with Illidan when he was riding Invincible and wielded Frostmourne in 1 hand.
I feel like Illidan would be fucking destroyed if that idiot actually got off that horse.
No, that is not what Arthas was pointing out. It could have been skill that Arthas was talking about. We all know that Illidan was stronger when he absorbed Gul'dan's skull. It was just that Arthas got the upper hand in that final battle.
the way Tyrande has fallen into this revenge mindset she and Illidan would be a perfect couple now lol
Malfurion: I forbid it
tyrande: 🖕OnLY the GodDess May FORbod me ANyThing...
Oh, you're approaching me?
Ah good old Illidan Legendary Simp
Illidan is Robin Hood in Warcraft Story
The music is amazing
hero illidan and his jelly bro ... them druids geez
Sick family relations between Illidan and his brother and horrible relations between Tyrande and Goat man
i never understood why they said Illidan paid for the restoration with his soul.
NOW THIS can be made into a series. I cant believe blizzard didnt make a show with this story holy f*ck
How does Illidan know what a human is?
asking the real questions
They simply cut names. They did same with Grommash/Grom. Now with Furion/Malfurion.
If this was realistic, Illidan wouldn't even know how to talk.
Illidan: *random feral Elder Scrolls troll sounds*
Tyrande: "Uh... Illidan are you okay? Oh shit, you've been imprisoned for 10,000 years. You probably had forgotten how to talk. SHIT!"
ILLIDAN: 10.000 years of friendzone
“Only the Goddesss may forbid me anything.”
Tyrande is such a badass, she’s not letting any man tell her what to do.

His voice always reminds me of Vergil in DMC. Also their personalities are kinda same.
Illidan's voice actor is interesting
This is only one of the rare instances where a demon hunter and a death knight agreed to a certain matter.
The only time Arthas set foot in Kalimdor. He should've realized he was wrong all along and the prophet's words were true
I've been wondering about that is arthus really a death knight im not aware he ever died
His voice in WoW: dear lord i wetted myself
his voice in w3 re: dear lord i puked myself
Did they...re-record the vocals? Or EQ the hell out of them? They seem hella different
Awesome, your copy worked
What's the soundtrack at 5:20?
It got bad reviews yet people are obsessed about this game
The game is bad because of lies and false ads. People still watch the vids because it's a important piece of history in Warcrafts lore.
People are obsessed because it is a cherished classic, the fact it is complete trash of a rework doesn't diminsh people's interest in warcraft.
It really wasn't...it was all a dick measuring contest that he picked all the wrong dialogue choices in the romance option and was wondering "WHAT WENT WRONG!?" Uh you're a dick, narcissist and instead of a 7 ft + elf (A+ for an elf woman on size btw XD) You're a demon ( F for what the fuck were you thinking, elves HATE demons!) Yeah no, but at least he had lady Vashj for company....
He should have realise that Vashj was the best waifu all along XD
Illidan... The tragic Hero.
Furion is too harsh on his brother. Illidan did what he had to do and yet Furion was still upset.
Illidan = OMEGACHAD
Soooo. Ilidan was staying there willingly this whole time? Maybe he was playing wow this whole time damn. 😂
Am I the only one who prefers this voice for Illidan over the one in WoW? I mean, Liam is an amazing VA and he did an awesome job (he WAS prepared, y'know), but I really love how this one sounds overall.
Yeap I MUCH prefer original voice actors..aside from Jaina and Sylvanas who have great voice actors in WoW, I actually dont like other voice actor replacements in WoW that much. Original voice actors of Arthas and Illdan especially are always superior to me
@@Balnazzardi yeah you're right! Arthas sounded much cooler in W3 too. But I'm pretty sure Sylvannas, Jaina and many othrr kept their original voices in WoW.
So basicly Ilidan could have gotten out anytime? She didnt free him, she said ppl need him so he got out?
This reminds us all that malfurion is the worst brother in the world
Nobody gonna talk about the fact that he was locked up for thousands of years and he just groans his way out? Lol what?
I guess in malfurion's mind there is a right way to do things and a wrong way.
I lowkey kinna wish they used his current voice actor but i understand they wanted to keep it the same!
what is the name of the soundtrack that was used in the end??
Did they update the soundtrack for Reforged
The true question is... How did Illidan stay so jacked and mentally healthy after 10,000 years of solitude?
Funny they let a guy in prison has his weapon xD
The warcraft 3 : refunded
Illidan didnt want to live on this game anymore
If Tyrande was single, no doubt Illidan would marry her.
Wow did it take too much time to come up with this idea
What's the name of the song at the end?
what is that awesome theme? at the start
Name of the soundtrack?
