I've been taking classes at a different studio during my home studio's break. I enjoy the change and it's helpful to experience several new teachers, but I'm very tired of driving 3x as far and circling the blocks looking for parking.
@@HannahMartinRG like you, I have a hard time leaving my routine and always do some type of cardio and floor or full barre whilst on holiday, but when I return I sew a brand new pair of pointe shoes (R-Class for me; have you tried them?) and go to company studio very early, give myself a full class before company class. 🇵🇹🇧🇷🇷🇴🇷🇺🇺🇦🩰
I’ve been following you for years and it’s so uplifting when you post. I love watching ballet, it’s one of my passions and I came to Brum to see The Nutcracker and I went to Kula Poke. I’m a vegan 🥑 All my favourite foods. It was lush ❤ Good luck with the rest of the year. You inspire me ❤
Thank you so much!! Kuala Poke is the best! I actually might be doing a very exciting collab with them soon, so watch this space! I hope you enjoyed the Nutcracker. Its a very fun ballet
@@HannahMartinRG I loved ‘The Nutcracker’ and it was really cool to recognise some of the dancers by name because I’d seen them in your vlogs. Oooo!!! That collab sounds exciting. The ladies in the shop are also very nice 👍
Hi Hannah and Reagan! Questions: 1) Hannah how is your older brother? 2) Reagan do you get to see your family much since you live in the UK and you’re from the US?
Those leotards are so beautiful. I remember your vlog about going to the shop in Milan. I looked them up and found it's just too expensive for me, but I I'm definitely enjoying seeing them on you, and anyone else who has one.
Next time you want to treat your mum to afternoon tea in London then please go to Royal Overseas League! My son is head pastry chef there and we would be happy to book you in, there’s a beautiful garden looking on to Green Park and it is totally lovely atmosphere. It is an Arts based club in centre of London 😘💕❤️
Thanks for another inspiring video Hannah. Full body flex has really helped to keep me motivated this summer. Can’t wait to go to Birmingham to see Luna! 😊
A few questions….Do people recognize you and chat with you when you do open class? Or can it be a bit awkward? Have you ever seen the royal family in person? Can you share what your roles are for the La Fille? Your family is delightful. Did miss you Reagan, but fun to follow you on IG. (I’m a couple states over in TN). Loving the flex course!😊
Some open classes can feel a bit strange if I feel like people have recognised me from my channel or work, but for the most part everyone is so friendly and welcoming that it is quite refreshing to dance momentarily somewhere different. New surroundings can sometimes provide new inspiration for my dancing. I'll be talking about fille in my next vlog in a bit more detail :) good to know it is a topic of interest. I did really miss Regan this summer! It's been so fun catching up this week and hearing about all the things she got up to. We are a bit like sisters now!
☺️ Hi Regan, nice to see you again! Hannah, I hope you didn't hurt yourself in that fall! It's very brave of you to include it in your vlog! One word to describe this vlog: heartwarming. I always love the London scenery too! 🥰 Congratulations on getting the Teddy Blake sponsorship! Thank you so much for including so many clips of your dancing! I love how gracefully and elegantly you dance in sandals! If you're allowed to say, what brand are your sandals? I'm especially intrigued by the dance in which you are wearing a white shirt and black trousers which iirc you said is for your church! Your movements are soooooo fluid and it seemed like you were really feeling the dance emotionally. It would be amazing if you were able to record it, and show us! I mean, only if you want to, of course. Mothers: We are both exceptionally lucky to have amazing mothers! Since my accident, I cannot live independently so I am very fortunate that my parents are so well, despite their age. I’ve always been close with both of them. My mom and I have so many similar interests, and we never run out of things to talk about! We love listening to Agatha Christie audiobooks and we often pause to discuss characters’ motivations, or other philosophical things that come up. It actually has helped us to get to know ourselves and each other better. We always had a close relationship, but it could never have evolved to where it is now if I had not had that accident. May I add that your mum is also very lucky to have such a grateful and loving daughter! I'm sure your brothers are also fantastic! And we got to see your grandma! I did not know Tunbridge Wells had all those charming ruins. I have to look it up now! Your whole family is just so incredibly likable! I have never heard of anybody being nervous to perform or compete because of the fear of one's own thoughts if it doesn’t go perfectly. It is incredibly impressive that: a) you have this much insight b) you are able to place the audience's reaction as a lower priority! (This is absolutely astounding!!) and c) you are able to say it aloud. Possible solutions: 1. Work on that positive self talk! (More about this below!) 2. Try writing down all of the thoughts that you are afraid you might have. For each, ask yourself: i) Why do you think this particular thought? ii) What frightens you about that particular thought? iii) Is this thought reasonable? a) If it is a particular fear, is it realistic? It’s easy to stumble into the cognitive distortion called “catastrophization”. (Related: “what if-ing”) Eg. If I make mistakes [performance, exam, job interview], then people might think badly of me, and maybe somebody will tell my teacher/employer, and what if I lose my job, and then I can’t pay my rent, and what if my friends ditch me, etc. Catastrophization and/or what-if-ing can lead to an anxiety or panic attack. It feels like one’s mind is caught in a maelstrom, and it’s spiralling out of control. Vigourous physical exercise, especially with loud music, is a good coping mechanism. Or doing creative writing or math problems or something that one has to focus on completely. I always try to remember that, as unpleasant as a panic attack is, it is temporary. When it’s over, one usually wonders how one got into that state in the first place. Hence the term “cognitive distortion.” iv) Would you have this thought about any other person - whether it’s your best friend, or someone you don’t even like? Why do you have it about yourself? a) If you would have this thought about any other person, would you say it to their face? Would you say it aloud to yourself? If yes, ask yourself why it would be OK to say it to yourself, but not to anybody else? Do you not deserve the same respect, sympathy, and encouragement that you give to other people? I have the impression that you enjoy helping others. One is best able to help others when one is as mental-health-well as possible. It’s like when one is flying, and the flight attendant says if the cabin becomes depressurized, to put on one’s own mask before helping anybody else. I have also heard that caring for oneself is like caring for one’s future self. Because of this, one’s future self is almost the same as another person. So helping oneself makes one better able to help others - while also ensuring care for one’s future self. 3. Now try writing down a positive thought to counter each negative thought. I know this can be difficult. My suggestion would be to imagine the negative thought is something a friend told you. Write down what you would say to your friend. 4. If one makes a mistake, it's disappointing, but it's also a learning experience. Everybody who has achieved success in life has had multiple failures along the way. It's how one CHOOSES to react to the failures that is important. And you have provided a fabulous example of how you chose to react when you included your fall in this vlog! Self-deprecating humor/the ability to laugh at oneself are excellent coping mechanisms, and it's also very endearing to others. It also proves that you are a very confident person, because an insecure person would feel ashamed and would be afraid of being mocked (a very natural fear. I think we've all been there. Some people unfortunately never grow out of this stage.). People enjoy being around someone who is confident and has a sense of humor! It's the opposite of a vicious cycle. I think it's called a virtuous cycle. 😊 Regarding fear of performing, everybody else (including me) seems to desire winning (eg. a competition or a job or a good exam) + praise or approval from parents, instructors, coaches, teammates, audience, national team selection committee, potential employer, etc. Cont..
Being hard on oneself is a character trait common among perfectionists and other high achievers. It's part of the reason that you have accomplished so much at such a young age. How to manage it in a positive way: 1. Acknowledging that you have this trait is the first step. 2. Consciously realize that there are pros and cons. 3. Be aware that you can CHOOSE whether to prioritize the pros or cons! Cons: One can become overly critical to the point of self-sabotage (unconscious, subconscious or otherwise), depression, and hopelessness. Pros: Can be a very helpful motivator. One who is constantly striving for self-improvement, especially in multiple areas of life simultaneously, needs: a) constructive self-criticism (in addition to feedback from others), and b) willingness to modify one's behavior. You have consistently demonstrated modifying eg. what you eat, that you socialize more, that you willingly rest more, etc. This means you have: a) identified various areas that you feel need improvement, b) thought about what improvements might help, and c) implemented them. Look at how open minded you are about trying different breakfast food when you are on tour! Stepping outside of one’s comfort zone takes courage - especially while being unsure if the result is going to be good or maybe harmful. Fear of the unknown is the worst fear because the imagination can run wild. (Eg. catastrophization and what-if-ing.) That’s why it is so beneficial to write down one’s fears, or to have a conversation about them with a trusted person. Maybe you think willingly adapting is not a big deal, but I assure you that you are exceptional. There are people who are not capable of this level of insight. Others may have the insight, and may kinda sorta wish to get rid of a bad habit, for example, but don't make the effort of finding out how to improve. Others might wish to improve at eg. writing poetry or swimming, but don't put in the necessary effort. (Sometimes this is due to fear of failure.) Others again may have discovered a way that could work, but then they don't actually do it. Usually it's going to involve some kind of sacrifice or making a lifestyle change, which can seem overwhelming. I can hardly overstate how significant your super attitude is. As you are constantly reinforcing it, it will serve you well throughout your entire life. Guaranteed! Positive self talk: CHOOSE to harness the pros of being hard on oneself, and learn to speak to yourself as if you were speaking to your best friend - especially at your lowest moments, which may be due to lack of food or sleep, or this lack is making the emotions stronger. Holding oneself to a higher standard than for anybody else is the cognitive distortion of "double standard." I did this for my whole life until about 10 years ago when I discovered cognitive distortions. I thought I had to be tough on myself, or I would not improve. It turns out that using positive self talk for motivation, perseverance, and reassurance is considerably more effective and also much more enjoyable! I'm not sure how I end up writing comments of this length. I certainly do not intend to when I start! When I am having a bad day, and I'm feeling overwhelmed, I actually reread comments like this that I have written on your videos. I've had all these thoughts in my head for years, but I have never articulated them before. So you are helping me a lot by getting me to think and then express my thoughts! Thanks so much for the beautiful vlog! You bring so much positive energy to this world! Wishing you and all of your dear ones all the best! 🙏❤️🩰🎼🌸🦋💫
Thank you so much for these insights, once again, I am inspired by your words and it makes me want to continue to strive towards a better mindset and outlook on life. I love what you said about positive self talk and almost healing that relationship you have with yourself because it will be one of the most important ones in your whole life! In the end, the only person you can never get away from is yourself, so it is so important to not be a bully to oneself and be that self affirming voice encouraging and also self-correcting each step of the way. I am so glad my videos provide an atmosphere and environment in which you can share your heart.
