'Leaders have a choice': PM accuses Peter Dutton of trying to ‘weaponise’ antisemitism

  • Speaking in parliament during question time, the prime minister, Anthony Albanese, has said the opposition leader Peter Dutton's 'attempt to weaponise antisemitism in this chamber and make it a partisan issue' is 'beyond contempt'.

    'I spoke in this chamber on Monday about the events in Caulfield and about the events in the eastern suburbs of Sydney. There was no qualification, no qualification whatsoever, in my condemnation,' Albanese said in response to an accusation from Dutton that the prime minister had failed to 'stand up and be united with the Jewish community' in the wake of the 7 October Hamas attacks on Israel.
