The white is so clean! Usually I don't like white electronicts, but this reminds me of the white macbook. what really sets it appart and what Valve nailed was the buttons. The grey buttons really make the White Deck look outsanding and not ugly like the Ally.
As a retired guy and very new to gaming, I think the white model has a more clean appeal. My furniture is mostly gloss-white & glass-top, so I'm a bit biased to the color. Your reviews get right to the point and are easy to re-watch without using fast-forward 😊
As someone who doesn’t own a Steam Deck (and has an unbiased opinion), I personally still think the standard black one looks best. White electronics are very pretty, however, when it comes to handhelds, I like the relationship to be just me and the screen, and white doesn’t lend itself well in that regard. Black tends to subdue itself which makes it better for a handheld experience, where white is a shade that pops, which competes for your peripheral vision. For that reason, I only like white on my PC and home consoles, where black is better suited for handhelds.
before I own a steam deck, I will agree with you, and i bought the 1TB black version of steam deck oled, and I always place the steam deck on top my pc table, just infront of my keyboard so i can look at it everyday. the issue with me is, the whole black thing on my table doesnt seems "attract" me enough to play it, especially when i dimmed my room light and i can barely see it in the dark, same logic as a bad games cover dont attract me to play it more so I'm also change the art work of my steam games cover to make them more appealing. after that I decided to buy a white gundam themed pop skin and apply on my steam deck oled, it looks gorgeous and I pick up it more and more after that. the whole black steam deck is not that appealing to me, maybe you would understand when you own one. :)

I'm lowkey waiting on the steamdeck 2. These handhelds do spark my interest but the steamdeck seems too bulky to me. Hope the steamdeck 2 has more of an ayaneo-esque formfactor and be more powerful/efficient.
SD2 isn't coming out until 2026 ATLEAST. We'll probably get another refresh of the 1 if anything else, but even then that's still pushing it. Valve has stated they didn't want the deck to be this yearly installment thing.
The white is so elegant and really tempting. But I already have both the LCD and OLED versions, and with so many new handhelds coming next year, I need to save up for the upcoming ones.
I have the LTD Edition Black model and I still think it's the best version they've made, although the White model is nice as well. There's just something about that translucent Black with the Orange accents that is really more appealing to me. To each his own.

My kids play my OG one now and it's been dropped and abused and keep son ticking and looks great! It's the matte with no screen protector. I got a Trimui Brick in WHITE coming so I can play when I get them from school or appointments. Pretty excited!

White is a beautiful color on handheld devices. I always try to get my phones in white but there's no white black is the 2nd best. Only bad side to a white gaming handheld is the bezels
I like the white, especially with the gray buttons. They could've put black and ruined it. So, it's more classy in that respect. But I still prefer the clear plastic because the screen blends in better. You really notice the asymetric bezels on the white one. Plus, I just don't like flashy things and I feel like if I'm out somewhere the white one just stands out too much.
"I don't know what it is about it," nobody talks about the panel difference. BOE panel was used first LE run, Samsung took BOE to court. Now no more BOE panels. This new LE was reported to be a Samsung panel. BOE was also reported to have a bit more power draw but better QC.
The white is the first limited edition in Australia and tbh its the best looking but the clear def has the better looking carry case especially inside with the artwork. Also white case might get dirty: was probly best to include a protective coating on the carry case.
white is nice, but the translucent one still the best looking. on the price its similar to normal 1TB version so i'd say get this if you need a steam deck, if you worry about dirty just put a white skin on it.

The black just looks way more premium for the Deck as it looks like one cohesive unit . Something feels off about the Deck in white and the bezels are far more noticeable ...

even they updated the processor and gpu it wont be appealing to you either, the things is gamers like you, chasing the best possible graphic intensity and handheld will never satisfy you. but in my opinion there is another handheld suitable for you, the ROG Ally X, while plugged in you can play it with 30w turbo AC mode, the processor and gpu is not an issue for handheld, the wattage are, while on 15w power comparison steam deck oled are the best handheld on market now.
@ I had the originally ally for about 1 year and sold it, the big bezels and windows on a handheld sucks, the ally x fixes the battery problem of the ally but I need the 890m to be satisfied with performance

I have LCD with 2Tb SSD and today ordered white OLED. Well, i had oled as tester months ago, some games look really impressive (like alien isolation, batman, or HDR games). Its like from zZZZzzZ to oooh it have a depth difference. It can damage your eyes as OLEDs are dead end technology, but if you not gona use it like 6+ hours daily, its gona be allright. I think its worth it at the end.🎉
I feel like the transparent Black for me looks good I thought having of white one but instead I put a white decal skin my black Steam deck Oled 😅so I don’t need to buy another White Steam deck Oled I’m happy what I got maybe I’ll just wait for Steam Deck 2 in the future and for the New SWITCH 2

SD is big but it leans into it and uses that size to give you really big and comfy ergonomic grips. Most comfortable handheld I've used.

I like the clean look of the white Steam Deck. It would be a challenge to keep the white case clean compared to the black one though.
The black SD is the one I prefer.

It essentially looks like a more contoured version of the Ally. I was expecting the grey accents to give it a more PS1 look.
