Mariel, thanks for the sweet shoutout! It was a such a nice surprise! I am so proud of your mini skein that you spun up and I look forward to hearing more about spinning, sewing and all things knitting!
Ahhh thank you so much, Lisa!! I love hearing about all the spinning adventures you share here on YT~ Happy making!
Enjoy your videos very much. I am a spinner, you should be so proud. Love your second attempt is beautiful, a new world opens to you. ❤
So sweet, thank you so much! I'm so glad I found the spinning world. It really is a beautiful, gratifying place to be~
Love your new linen quill ❤
Absolutely so glad to have found your channel! Love your videos! I'm a huge pomona fan so glad you're having fun with those! I'm about to make some with brushed bull denim so we will see how that goes. I haven't made them in a fabric that heavy.
Fun to hear about your life stuff too! Have a great weekend!
Knitting at the gym!!! OMG I wouldn’t be able to do it, you’re a multitasking genius 💪🏼
Hahaha gotta do whatcha gotta do sometimes! If you decide to try in the future, all I recommend is bringing a smaller project bag with a small handle that you can easily hang from a treadmill or bike!
I am in love with ALL your knits & pants & spinning stuff! Now i feel like i wanna start spinning 🥹
Aww thank you for the kind words! I'm obviously biased, but you should DEFINITELY take up spinning ;)
Every single thing you made and said in the was FAB!!! TY ~ I enjoyed this so much and will be binging the heck outta ya! LOVED the links SOOOOO MUCH! JUST ordered some 9" circular needles for some socks (2) ~ I'm determined to do two at once and loved your spinning! !!! love, peace & axel grease! (I'm an auto mechanic!)
Ahhh! Thanks so much for the kind words! I hope you enjoy the two at a time sock knitting :)
i'm so glad to have found your channel! i love your personal style and it's rly nice seeing someone also in a creative industry talkin about how it influences craft! i also tried and was defeated by spinning on a wheel, but you've inspired me to try a drop spindle! just finished a "la bandana" using some yarn i got at a verb for keeping warm (also a bay area girlie though i don't live there rn) and currently casting on a "northern augustins dk no5" which is a simple colorwork raglan!
Love it! Hello fellow creative in the Bay! Thanks so much for joining me here~ Oooh I've been wanting to visit AVFKW so badly! I hope you find more enjoyment in a drop spindle if you decide to try it out :)
You're so prolific especially with socks!! Love your knitting pod soo much, I just started one too hehe
Ahhh thanks so much, Angelina! Ooh I'll have to check out your podcast too! I hope you have fun + find sweet community here on YT
Just came across your channel and subscribed! Love all your crafting and yarn selections.
So sweet, thanks so much :) and welcome!
Such fun Mariel, thank you 🤗. Working on a Book Club Cardigan by Sari Nordlaund but dying to cast on the Basile and the Baguette Sweaters by Soumine KIM. So beautiful…
Oooh nice, I hope the Book Club Cardi is a fun knit for you~ I'll have to check out the other pattern you mentioned too!
@@whatmarielmade The Basile and the Baguette are the kind of lovely that make you draw in a breath! (At least, I think so 🤓)
yay i love hearing all the deets about what you’re working on 💗 lol @ your subconscious hoarding toilet paper rolls to prep you for your future spinning hobby
Baaahaha my inner hoarder is lookin' out ;)
You are amazing ❤❤❤ thank you for the shoutout ❤
Always sending ya love from CA, Mari!
❤
I always accidentally knit one sock a pinch longer. 😂
Haha maybe it's just a sock knitter thing 😅💛
Yeah, having a slightly bigger foot is a thing! My right is bigger than my left
Haha right?? I thought so...
What’s the difference between shadow wrap heel and German short row? I’m a new knitter and I’m making socks rn and I did the German version. I may try the shadow wrap next time if it’s easier.
That's a GREAT question, and I wasn't sure about the answer myself, but after a quick Google, this is what I found: "Difference is that in shadow wrap we make an extra stitch which creates double stitch. German short rows, a double stitch is created by pulling stitch upwards on the needle. We work with the same stitch." (stylish knitting dot com is the source)
Omg the yarn acquisitions you showed had me droolingggg such nice color choices!! I'm currently working on a test knit for Lea (aka @kiss.kiss.rhinestones) she will bring out the Sicily Slipover in mid-july and it's my first time working with Isager yarn, doing my version in Trio 2 (blush and strawberry) A very nice summer knit if you want something breezy for Cali ;)
Oooh thanks for telling me about your projects, I'll have to keep an eye out for those patterns you mentioned! I've also never worked with Isager yarn, so lemme know how you like it!
@@whatmarielmade it's an interesting one as it feels a bit ropey but I read and heard that linen yarns, (this one is cotton, linen and lyocell) tend to shrink and "fluff" up when blocked. So I kept that in mind when i did my gauge swatch and sure enough, it shrunk length-wise and fluffed up nicely :)
