- After two and a half long years, the hell of the north is finally back, and the race is as open as ever! With the potential of rain, the riders will have their work cut out staying upright, but this should favour the likes of Wout van Aert and Mathieu van Der Poel. Never discount former champion Peter Sagan, and a whole host of other riders who fancy their chances in one of the premier races of the season!

It's no wonder this race is one of the great sporting events in the World.
When he is 80 and walks into a room, people will still whisper "he won Paris Roubaix"
@Mindless Drone 😂
Wow
Three winners for me. What a sport !
Not what the faces on the lower steps said !
every single one who crossed the finish line has a win in my book. Moscon has two probably
ok, for me 3 x gold, the others silver and the fans bronze. :-)
I might be biased but goddamn did Vermeersch show one hell of a performance. At the front for the entire race and where Van Asbroeck and Moscon couldn't keep up he just continued onto the podium. Hats off!
@@salmiakki5638 respect
The best cycling classic of all times.
The Race of the Mudmen.... just to finish the course was a victory in itself! Kudos to all the riders.
It makes me cry for those riders!!!! Umbelievable race, no doubts the hardest race in the world.
No way this is the hardest race in the world. Nowhere near.
This should be called the Highlights of the highlights...what an incredible race and chapeau to all of the first 4 you fought like Tigers...I could barely take my eyes off it for a second...Yet again it reminds me why it's my favourite Monument.
You should edit comment to first three. The person in forth is a vile racist.
@@kristianmickelson he s fixed now - diversity awareness course. 😉🤙
Yes, head over to Lanterne rouge or butterfly effect for the actual race analysis
@@kristianmickelson Moscon exact
Young Vermeersch may not have won the cobble, but it was HIS race literally from start to finish. I hope we hear a lot of this young talent in the years to come. Total hardman in the traditional sense.
What absolute twaddle. Moscon was at least as deserving as Vermeersch.
@@OxygeneAirTime If Moscon was in the final into the velodrome, you might have a point, but he wasn't so your comment is pointless. Thanks for playing along though.
@@johnandrews3568 The point is totally valid set against daft statements like it was Vermeersch's race "literally from start to finish" and he's a "total hardman in the traditional sense".
@@OxygeneAirTime Daft... Twaddle. If you can't discuss without name calling, you shouldn't be allowed to play with adults. MMkay? Oh and 59 people liked my statement, so not sure why you'd bring up Moscon when he didn't finish in the top 3. Vermeesche was at the front from start to finish. The child Moscon was not. Period. Full Stop.
Dude hes called Vermeersch. Verschmeer means something like "smeared" though, which is fitting for this day lol
We've waited too long for this.
The greatest race in the calendar.
Chapeau to Sonny and Lizzy for a spectacular weekend!
Well done....this race speaks to the cruelty of cycling....chapeau to all riders!!
It's been so long since they did this in the rain, I almost forgot just how bad it gets on the muddy cobbles.
They should've used somw CX bikes
@@tudidingsapparel7197 You're right they never do any research into what equipment combinations are fastest over the combination of cobbles and tarmac which make up the whole race.
What a race!!
What a year for Colbrelli… My guy was MVDP but Colbrelli was just amazing
All these racers are tough as nails!
We, in Québec, can be proud of our man, Guillaume Boivin. A Top 10 is awesome in its own right, but if he didn't crash, he could have made the final sprint.
Dead right, cheers from a Temiscaming boy.....
ASO should keep this date for Roubaix going forward...personally, I think it balances the calendar much better. The racing speaks for itself.
No, it has to start April, no change period
@@nickjohnson710 Agreed
I like the sentiment, but it is a spring classic. Maybe add a new cobble race this time of year? Hell, I'd take two Paris roubaixs in a year. Spring and fall edition. That would be optimal.
@@nickjohnson710 I agree, traditions are cycling's strenght...a treasure for Europe !
Le cyclisme mène a tout. a living mud sculpture at the finish line. Never seen before. Cycling is everything.
What a year for Italy!
As french i'm jealous. But each time beautiful winners! On this race I was painfull for the 2nd & 3rd.
@@alba-k Naah...with the ryders France has at its disposal these days...you can't be seriously jealous !
@@giuliogrifi7739 for football and sprint... si! 😄
@@alba-k All right, I agree regarding the "sprint".....talking about football, Italy is European champion, but France has many more gifted players and a much better future ahead...Italy is a declining nation (in general).
@@giuliogrifi7739 Bullshit, if Italy is declining then everyone is... Lol new gen italians are all over sports and they're already good
Chapeau to everyone who took part, in this weather and conditions you need every ounce of mettle to get through it!
Only the toughest cyclist can do this. Amazing. I must congratulate to all riders who are in this insane race.👏👏👏
It looked like the tyre pressure on Moscon's extra bike was too high. He couldn't really control it on the slippery cobbles. Too bad. He looked like the winner for a long time.
Vero. La seconda bici era non guidabile.
Correct
Yeah, Ineos/Sky was famous for pumping their tires a bit harder for the start and then let the tire gradually loose its pressure during the race, so when they reach the harder cobble sections they have the exact right tire pressure. Looks like that bike has too much tire pressure due to the bike change.
Awesome race! Cobrelli showed his class here. I would never have picked him to win against MVP. Excellent work Cobrelli!
@@Chris-ze4eq In the photos after the race at the awards ceremony, it was apparent that MVP was still very tired despite having a shower and probably a little food. He just looked ready to return home for some rest.
UCI uploaded the highlights of the men's world champs road race 2hrs ago - so a week after the race. Thanks GCN for snappy delivery on these highlights, great quality too!
And the UCI editing of the highlights was dross. It didn’t have any narrative to the sections they chose to include.
What a race by Vermeersch !! Looks to be a promising talent for next season already
after such a hell of a race we just went crazy!!
all my deepest respect and affection for all the racers!!
what a finish….respect all the riders and 3 gold for me…really what a race...
What a truly epic race.
Superb commentary. Merci!
Straight to Hell, Sonny Boy!!! Another legendary Roubaix with another 2021 amazing italian victory 🇮🇹🥇
That finish would be admired by any athlete, no matter the discipline.💪🏼🌎
Absolutely brutal conditions!
victory celebration no doubt providing next weeks memes
Colbrelli to be played by Nic Cage in Hollywood remake
Kinda cringey to watch !
Always the best race day of the year, everything goes out the window, LOVE IT!
Absolutely fantastic! Enormous congratulations for everyone who finished and most especially for Sonny Colbrelli...amazing! Honestly, having this classic scheduled so late in the season just adds to it's historic challenges. Again, please!
A battlefield today!! Great race..
That's right !!!!
Muddy, wet cobblestones on slicks... I can't fathom how hard it is to race in those conditions. I'm surprised more racers haven't switched to tubeless tires for this race to eliminate pinch flats.
The teams are cagey about sharing P-R bike setup - there could be any specs there.
Vittoria were tubeless.

Nice little highlight reel. Epic race!

I laughed, I jumped, and I scream. What a race!!!🚴🚴🚴. What a true worries..
More action here in one day than some of the tours!
seriously committed , impressive
What a race, especially for Vermeersch. Only 22 years old, his 1st Paris Roubaix, ride all day at the front, beats VDP in the sprint and he does better then Tom Boonen in his 1st Paris Roubaix at that age
VDP did a lot of work than Vermeersch as well as Corbrelli.. Yeah, I think that's was their strategy because VDP like one man show.. But this whole race's awesome..
Greatest race I have ever seen. Brutal.
one word..........
Outstanding.....
That race is insane. Tough way to earn a living.
Now this is sport!
The dude next to Colbrelli on the podium looked at that prize like “Man, I had you !”
It's Colbrelli.
@@nielskjr5432 thanks
@@IzzyPerezCycling 😊👍
He did the most work and sat up front most of the race. Understandable.
@@TheLemon333 Not really, the so-called "most work" it did the guy who, at 30km from the end, with almost 1.30 lead, first punctured and then crashed because the team gave him a new bike with too inflated tires.
It would be better learn to accept the defeat, and I am referring to who finished third today and his fans (I am reading shameful comments after an epic race ... worse than football).
Congratulations to colbrelli and to team bahrain victoruous for winning the paris roubaix what a race!
What drama! What a great race!
Very well deserved win for Colbrelli...didn't think he had it in him...what an Epic Race...sad for Moscon though...
Sad for the temper tantrum throwing racist? The only thing to be sad about with him is that he still has a contract.

Never any apologies or real repercussions. He’s earned every bit of his karma. Excited to see him leave INEOS to fade into obscurity at Astana.
@@RyonBeachner Now I understand
This race was more exciting than the last 10 Tours de France
Moscone getting a super clean bike is just too funny.
Im crying with Colbrelli :)
Of all the pictures that could’ve been chosen for this video’s thumbnail, they chose one of riders in clean kit?! What?!?! That’s no summary of this race! 😂
Give it a rest... if they had put up a picture of guys covered in mud and unrecognizable, some a**hole would be bitching about why they're hinting that the muddy conditions would play a part in the outcome. Sheesh...complain, complain...
They updated it to muddy riders
A true Paris Roubaix
A real man's sport
no one got a hug at the finish line from their team principal today!
Jaysus! Stones of steal lads.
Wow! Amazing. Now, I know there are restrictions but it’s just wrong. We got to see the women’s on GCN+ but not the men’s. And though this recap is great, now that it’s over, we should be allowed to rewatch the entire race.

Hardcore!
03:45 is the perfect freeze frame to sum up the whole event. EPIC
Crazy racing 🏁 🎲
Love Colbrelli win , he is like the Bettini of italy or even better , great Tour cannot explain how a sprinter can do it all the stages even fighting in the mountains , great European championships and amazing win today . My pick was MVDP to win today ;but you never lead a sprint like he did, he should position himself in the back and let Colbrelli lead the sprint he could of have a much better chance. Also very impress how MVDP keep his shoes very white all the way lol
MVDP was coming off an injury from olympics that kept him from training in august so he wasnt in great condition by his standards. His positioning in the sprint was not the reason he lost, he was totally exhausted with 10kms to go, he stated as much in the post race interview.
Bravo
Am I going nuts, I kept looking for Sean Kelly in there..:)
La cara de Vermeersch es muy conmovedora =')
What wonderful Karma for Moscon, well deserved. Fantastic result for Cobrelli.
What happened with Moscon?
@@juanvillalba539 Flatted with a 40 second lead. Bike change, still kept 20 Second lead, then goes down on cobbles, and gets back up to continue right in time to lose his lead to MVDP, Cobrelli and the rest of the chasers.
??? What?
Agree

It pretty much lined itself as the ultimate sufferfest and didn't disappoint.
Huge race for the cyclocross youngsters again.
The hero in this game was absolutely Mathieu Van Der Poel.
He was the real winner. I became a fan for him.
All that, then they give you a cobblestone if you win !!
