I can understand why people would be upset by the "hero is really a gender-swapped male" plot twist, and not just horny teenagers. It's not hard to imagine kids, boys and girls both, excited by the prospect of a rare female lead in an action game, only to find out halfway through it's a cop-out.
This game has some beautiful presentation. We really are in the era of slick, well made Famicom/NES games, at least graphically. 88-94 produced some of the prettiest games for the 1983 console.
This one... I used to own it in the past. I remember being quite frustrated with the dungeons, they're huge and rather difficult to traverse in the later parts of the game. Other than that, it mostly stands out due to the presentation; to be honest, I liked Willow better back in the day - but the best action RPGs are still ahead, in the 90s.
Huh I didn't know anything about this one! so its kinda like zelda? I guess aside from the rough starting portion it seems pretty fun and one I'd probably be on the lookout for.

I rented this once because I wanted to try a cheat I saw in Nintendo Power. I had trouble understanding the game.
