Cold 187 from Above The Law created G Funk, Dr. Dre was the bigger name and got credited the most accolades. Check out "Call It Want U Want" by them ft. 2 Pac and Money B. In that song Pac called the sound G Funk in the song and from there the sound was birthed its name. Cold 187um was a producer as well so they was around each other the early years.

This is the difference between what gansta rap was like in the original days compared to what rap is like today with guys rapping about gang shit now. Now it's all about glorifying violence. Back then there was always a moral to their story.

One of most underrated West Coast Rapper is KING TEE with hits like "Let's Go Dippin" (& Remix is good too).. ."Black Togetha Again" ... "At Your Own Risk (Buddha Mix)" (Memories this was BET's Rap City theme music) .."Down Ass Loc" .. "You Can't See Me" {Personal Favourite} ..

So that second verse.. he's justifying selling dope to his own people for the purpose of getting his mom out of the hood. And he calls out that the folks there don't care about his mom (and presumably her safety) he eludes to not caring about damaging that same community with drugs. It's an interesting take on accountability and of ends justifying the means. I love it.

An interesting take? It's damn near everyone's take. If it's not for personal gain it's for someone else's sake. The people who are effected negatively are always ignored to these people. At the end of the day, the people who do wrong ain't shit unless they a benefit.

96 was the beginning of the ghey shit in hip hop. Biggie and Pac we’re dead and we got cornballs like Diddy and masa and Jay z. The west coast started to fall off. The south was ruined by no limit. To me 87-97 is the golden era but 96-97 was definitely worse than before. 94 had classics from every coast. West coast was slamming, east coast slamming south had dope shit and even Midwest was dope
