      Though I'm not a Christian myself, (I am actually a Heathen/Pegan) I absolutely Adore this type of music, combined with the history. I have always love churches, and the calmness to them, almost sometimes an eery calmness that in a way sets you in awe, but also the history of the Church, maybe why I chose the path I chose?
      But back to the music; This was absolutely a Magnificent piece of art! I got really touched - especially in these times! I will be saying a prayer to The Christian God aswell as to my own Gods!
      Bless us all - whom ever we believe in! 💜

      People usually only hear the organ when it’s used to accompany church service singing, of which the average opinion is that that’s quite dull. And the purpose of service singing is to express religious believes, of which more and more people start to have a negative opinion about, thanks to negative articles in newspapers and some extremists who use their religion to execute cruel things. Keeping the religion topic aside - the buildings and pipe organs (with real organ music played on) are beautiful indeed.

    Many see the organ as a symbol of terror and pain, yet to my it is an icon of t he human spirit releasing stored pain. We have nothing to fear from this eerie instrument, it is a physical manifestation of melancholy and that is not something to hide from. Sadness is an emotion that all humans feel and it is important to acknowledge that and I often advise that people experience such release, with moderation of course.

    • @MortenMalvik_Composer
      @MortenMalvik_Composer  Год назад

      Thanks for your insights.
      If by "terror and pain" you are thinking about the typical gothic "phantom of the opera" stereotype organ, then yes. Most people think of religious music when they hear it. When infact it's a splendid instrument to play many sorts of reportoire on. It's quite a leap from "standard" psalm music to the more elaborate romantic organ-symphonies. It's the range of different emotions that a organ can produce that intrigues me. And yes I agree, people need to release their emotions and feelings, it's only healthy.

      @@MortenMalvik_Composer it wasn’t even me that used it dude! it was an actual funeral service company called Della Russo in Medford Massachusetts! I wish you could’ve been in there to hear it in the big cathedral church. Such an amazing piece and hope you do more emotional organ stuff it’s my favorite

    I first heard this music on a game called Vrchat, someone use it on a map with a spaceship of the Night Lords from Warhammer 40K, je music was so beautiful for the ears and so immersive. However the map got shutdown for some reasons and i tried for months to find the music again. Here i am finally being able to imagine a world of chaos but with that peace from the angels coming to calm me down. Thanks for the work man !

    What a moving piece to be playing on an organ...I have always loved organ music all my life and even as a child would love to go to church especially on holidays - to just listen to the organ. It is really emotional!

    Thanks for sharing this wonderful piece. It gives me a time to remember my youngest son, who died on my birthday in 2008. He loved to sit on the bench with our church organist (and she is a friend) and turn pages. We both shared a deep love for music. I do miss those times with him. Your composition brings out many emotions in me right now. Continued blessings to you. Thanks again.

      I have no idea but, just maybe, it was the Adagio from Bach's _Toccata, Adagio and Fugue_ that you heard. And while I doubt that it's what you are searching for, you may also enjoy Hendrik Andriessen's _Thema met Variaties,_ just make sure to find a good recording on a large organ.

    Glad to see you back Morten! This is sterling work, very flowing, very moving. After your big statement in the middle it goes into a beautiful passage from around 2:20 and climaxes with an almost audible "AMEN" at 4:10 Surely you must do the same piece with strings (your very own Adagio for Strings). That would throw up a different challenge! ;)

      +Paul Cassidy Yes Paul, I'm glad to be back. I hope 2016 will be a more productive year for me. Thank you for the nice feedback =) The big tutti was mostly an experiment with the samples, a bit much for a adagio really...but what the heck. The ending, yes a pretty typical organ-ending. A bit "congregational". Good idea about a version for strings! i might try it =)

    I'm a fourth-generation musician. I've always wanted to learn how to play the organ. However, my father taught on the cello. I'm a cellist now. I also make a little music, but I can't record. Not on a smartphone, but it turns out to be an ugly record. In general, I believe that music is a universal language. Language of emotion and mood.
