cool video, any tips for a first timer as far as navigation? im getting my friend to drop me off at hthe top, then ride down all the way to the house in walnut creek near the north gate entrance.
Wow. Looks really fun, planning to head out there but I'm reading lots of comments "no biking" allowed which probably local and knows more than we do. So gotta respect that as I am a hiker and a biker (beginner) as well. Thanks 4 the video though.
HaHa---! I did part of that trail. The Last 5 minutes of it... Then I took another branch that was REALLY difficult. To Sentinal Rock. Super difficult trail. You have to be a Expert Level Mtn Biker (which I am Not), so I had to get off the bike & walk my Bike up several times.
I ride at Mt Diablo and surrounding areas frequently. Some of the segments that you rode are closed to bikes. The section from the top to the water tank for example. In general, most singletrack in the park is closed to bikes with the exception of maybe 3-4, and most fire roads are open. Summit Trail is a popular route for hikers and sometimes horses, and as you saw, there are often groups walking abreast, chit-chatting, looking at each other or their feet, and completely oblivious to everything around them. I've come across people sleeping, lying flat in the middle of the trail, head pointed uphill. Groups sitting in a line across shady parts of the trail, sometimes non-English-speaking. I once had two hikers with several dogs on leash having a conversation, completely ignoring the bell and callouts of the rider ahead of me. We stood there for 15 seconds while they finished their conversation, they never acknowledged us even upon leaving, but clearly saw us. And I've seen hikers and horses where they're not supposed to be as well. Trails are not always well marked, and there are those (hikers, bikers, and horse riders included) who don't know and/or don't care. In past years, videos got posted and almost immediately the rangers would put up signs and barricades at the trailheads. This is probably the same story everywhere but I find it happening more frequently here in recent years from all the new people discovering this park.
thx for the info. I wasn't ignorant but I remembered I didn't see any sign of no biking allowed, maybe it was too small to notice ? I haven't been back there almost a year. Summit Trail is indeed very popular for hikers. I guess that is the reason rangers didn't care much to address mountain bikers?. If they did put up signs, I will totally respect that and avoid those single tracks.
Shocking, just shocking, how illegal that is you young hoodlum. Don't ever do that again. But if you do there's actually a much more enjoyable top route that puts you at your 5:50 mark.
@@tnn35 Uh huh, rrriiiight.......... There is no legal single track on Mt Diablo. So you should not ride the (Trail Through Time) single track that heads due east from Rock City, that would be wrong.
Just hiked this for the first time. I can only begin to appreciate how crazy the trail must be going down on a bike. Awesome!
Hey tnn 35! Excellent, awesome, rock-hopping vid! Excellent!!!
Nice run brotha.gona try it tomorrow myself
I need to ride those trail man .. nice video amigo

No that's not true. only 2 sections up top are illegal for bike. the rest 99% are all legal
Oh man you missed the side trail and stairs at 10:15 (the other rider hit), for the boring go around!
Rode this today. Pretty fun, not worth all the shuttle work with all of the roadies polluting the way back up to retrieve the car.

Did u use the road to climb up? Then downhill on d trail?
No I used the dirt trail on the way up as well.
Hi guys nice video. I also upload MTB content!!!! Thanks for the sweet vids!!!!!!
Can a gravel bike handle this?
yup. actually it's better with gravel bike for going up.
@@tnn35 Ok, thanks for the feedback. Not having suspension wouldn’t be fun - hands and body would be taking all the shock😮
@@HDGuruGuy you can always take the road on the way down. I did that few times with my gravel ride up there. :-)
you rock man
wow how long is this trail?
once you're on the top, it's about 3500 feet and 7 miles down hill
tnn35 did u had somebody drop you off at the top? or did you climb back up?
I climb up first then do the downhill, car is usually parked at the bottom ;-). but yes, it's great idea to have someone drop you off up top ;-)
tnn35 kool thanks for the info man! im jealous! just saw your vid today and man thats an awesome ride. thanks again!
This Dennis. I subscribed to your channel
Your faster going down MT Diablo On a bike then I am in a car.
So where is the fun stuff? I'm from NM we r definitely way technical compared so maybe u can refer me to some similar trails?
yeah this is XC trail. go to Santa Cruz area, there's more technical challenges for you there.
Aww good idea! Thanx & be safe 🤙
are there any enduro sections?
most XC.
That's a long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long downhill!
This is so mainey
