- North Carolina has many talented players on the basketball roster - RJ Davis, Elliot Cadeau, Cade Tyson, and many more. But it continues to feel like they can and should add one more piece. When multiple high-level players pulled out of the NBA Draft last week, the hope was that Carolina would go after some (Jamir Watkins, Arthur Kaluma, Trevon Brazile, etc.). But so far, it sounds like there is no movement on that front. Seems like a misstep!
The Diamond Heels put themselves in great position this weekend to advance to the Super Regional round after winning their first two regional games (Long Island, LSU). However, losing to LSU on Sunday night means that UNC will have to beat the Tigers tonight to advance.

Ok if you don't think he's ready that's fine but I don't like this narrative that he was a bad backup. His freshman year he was working back from injury and did pretty damn well all things considered. This season he was one of the most efficient players in terms of percentages and the only reason he didn't play more was because of Mando. Why do you think we haven't been able to land a "true center?" It's because Hubert isn't promising a starting spot and they don't wanna fight for thos minutes with J Wash. Hubert believes in him. Recruits are scared of competing against him. He's ready.

Love our team. Definitely not a traditional Carolina squad, but the boys can make it work. The key is we need everyone to buy in on defense, rebound by committee, and play gritty. We are LOADED 1-3, so we just need our bigs to play solid enough. I expect us to be excellent offensively. Elliot is working on the jumper, and he’s gonna get our shooters looks all day. RJ and Cade are deadeyes, and we have stretch bigs to spread the floor. This team’s identity runs through the guards. Look at Houston last year. Such a small team but still phenomenal defensively. Nobody over 6’8 had serious minutes for them. We don’t need to be massive to win, but we need everyone to buy in. And we don’t need another 3/4. Either grab a big strong center for a defensive anchor or roll w what we have. Go Heels! 🐏
Issac, like you I am ecstatic over the team Coach Davis has assembled for next season. It's a powerful line-up 1-5. It's a line-up that again looks like a national contender. But I still believe we need Ugonna Onyenso, Coleman Hawkins, or Treyvon Brazile to solidify a Final Four run. I know Carolina believes in always staying financially solvent with its athletic programs, but just this once could we break into the piggybank and bring home one of these diamonds.

This current roster is very weak at the 4 and the 5. People who are saying Carolina is okay with this current roster is in denial. This is not a national championship team or an ACC championship team. There will be not be any more national titles for Carolina basket as long as the current head coach is steering the ship.
You can only play 5 players at a time. We have 4 star players riding the bench and two 5 star freshman coming in. Lets play the guys who chose UNC. As mentioned below, the only other position we need is a true center.

Well, there have been years - including the Dean Smith Era - when UNC fielded less talented teams and had less than desired performance, and that's just how it goes sometimes. Fans can become fanatical in their pursuit of their own selfish desires, becoming unreasonable in their expectations.

If I was rj Davis I would have told Hubert Davis the only way I would come back and play for unc for my 5 year ,has to prove to me he's committed to winning a national championship by the players he sign, from what I've seen he hasn't proved he's committed

I'll be honest, I couldn't agree less about chemistry not being as important in today's age. Look no further than 2 years ago. Arguably a more talented UNC squad didn't make the tournament while this year's team won the ACC and made the Sweet Sixteen. Chemistry is important and we shouldn't make it a side factor. Just my take though; still a great episode!
Love you pushing back @thenintenerd4207! Thanks for adding your take. You point is absolutely correct that chemistry was a major issue in 2022-23 & this most recent squad was all-in together. I reckon I should specify - I DO think chemistry is important, I just think it's a different age now where we say "you're being paid like professionals now, figure it out." I don't know yet the best way to balance that since it's still college basketball, but with some elements of professionals. How do we handle that?
@LockedOnTarHeels the money aspect does make it difficult to draw that line. Thankfully I'm not the coach being paid millions of dollars to figure it out; I could never haha. If it's a matter of just minute allocation affecting chemistry then I actually agree with you but you definitely don't want to bring in a toxic or extremely self-centered person to kill chemistry

I disagree with you wholeheartedly Isaac! Nobody you mentioned that you'd like to see us get involved with makes us that much better that it's worth losing ANYBODY we already have to a transfer or bad team chemistry. In my humble opinion of course.
Carolina has not secured a big to replace Bacot because the elite bigs don't trust Hubert Davis, dont like Hubert Davis's message, and don't like the NIL package that he is offering. This failure is all on the head coach. He is single handily diminishing the Carolina brand. If this post season failure in the portal isn't s red flag for most, just wait until the season starts. This is a NIT bound team with this current weak roster consisting of very good guards and no accomplished 4 or 5 position players. Way to go Hubert.
Think I trust our coaches. To figure it out. If they can't figure it out, then nothing else matters who they bring in. I am not a general manager and I do not know what's going on. But I do trust human davis Maybe often they should try that. If it don't work, then we could get that help for not working, but for now, all you all Sideline, coaches need the chill out.
