I am 69 years and I can remember the year before I left school I was playing rounders afternoon lessons and the heavens opened with giant hailstones. As I arrived home in our garden it was full of these very big hailstones all piled up by our greenhouse, it was quite exciting , biggest id ever seen or seen since. That would have been 1969 or 1970 in Leeds england.
I saw this in south shropshire in 1965 every green house for miles was smashed. They will say climate change. So what was it 59 years ago?

When I was living in Southwest France back in the 2000s there was a storm just like this but without the rain it was crazy. Hope everybody found shelter that we're out and about, those hail sized tennis balls can kill you. Stay safe everyone!

here is a small tip. when you listen and pay heed to the weather channel in your local area, and a storm of this magnitude is approaching. see if you can put your vehicle in a garage. if not, get or cut out thick cardboard, and put a cover over your vehicle. thick cardboard will help save your windows front and back of the vehicles with a heavy cover over the car. Even a long runner rug tied down securely will help the hail from pounding and smashing your windows. Any thick rug long or short to cover your front and back of car. with another cover on top covering the same areas. I would put the windshield wipers under the cover too. This is a small tip I learned from a friend of mine who serve as a postman for many years.

The CMEs that hit the Earth the last few days dumped a lot of energy into the atmosphere. This is one reason storm have increased in intensity over these last few days. Here in the US we got hit by a bad one Thursday night. It most likely got charged up from the early hits given how it increased in severity so rapidly.
Just the other day another round came through with some very severe bits and massive hail. That missed me fortunately given that the previous one left a major mess.

When we experiment with complex systems we can create unintended consequences. That does not prove that this hailstorm is a direct result of this, but there is nothing wrong with questions being raised. Especially when cloud seeding is taking place across multiple nations now and being used for hydroelectricity [Snowy Hydro, Australia, for example] and to create more rain in places like the Philippines.
Although cloud seeding [weather modification/geoengineering] has been experimented with since the 1940s, it still produces mixed results. A little too early for many on here to claim that it cannot cause negative outcomes as well as positive ones; there is nearly always a trade-off in science. Unfortunately, science (albeit, the scientists) is not so forthcoming with the negative results it often produces as it is with positive ones it tends to, conveniently, overtly publicise by comparison. Especially when funded to look for those particular results.
It is quite arrogant of many to mock people who are genuinely concerned about nature being played with.
Especially when they do not know the full outcomes of this science themselves, as the very experts in this field are still experimenting and collecting data (with mixed results). Many other scientists hold the same concerns and reservations.
Added to the above layers are the many global organisations using climate change to remove freedoms, enforce extra charges, increase their power and introduce tech 'solutions' to a problem that many of them have financial vested interests in (incentive to lobby governments to impose those on their populations).
Not questioning would be unwise, particularly when it comes to power (often corrupt). It does not mean that every suspicion held would be correct but we must scrutinise much regardless. If nothing else, it makes science more robust and demands more transparency from those in power. Appeals to authority are not the wisest of choices. Stating there is a consensus is not convincing either, especially when you learn that the scientists claiming much are funded by the very people and groups funding their departments and institutions. The same people and groups making a profit from their findings. It can appear, at least, like scientific bias.
Personally, I view those as two [strengthening science and transparency] incredibly important things to achieve. If powers were more transparent then, perhaps, populations would be less inclined to be highly suspicious of them. After all, many have a terrible track record of putting their citizens first and their personal or their associates' interests last. Do we blame the people or the corruption for that?

Dang! I bet this is quite uncommon in France. Where I'm from it happens all the time. My hometown just got hit by a powerful wedge tornado last week, but I live in Tennessee USA. It's crazy seeing something powerful in France. My thoughts and best wishes to those impacted.

Years ago I was in a hailstorm in the US with about 2 inch diameter hail. That seemed more than enough for me. 8 inch diameter hail must be very dangerous indeed.
Same in Lausanne in ~2006 from a Lac Léman “mini hurricane”- broken windows everywhere.
Same thing with Texas giant hail
This already happened in Geneva in the 80's......check it out. All cars in Geneva were damaged.

This is what the central United States deals with nearly every Summer, especially areas like Colorado Springs CO because its the perfect place where cold from the west Rocky Mountains meets the warm air from the eastern flat lands, so nearly every evening during the Summer time are thunder and lighting storm's with hail. If you don't think ahead and prepare yourself and your property with some kind of hail prevention devices for a form of insurance, it will cost your wallet greatly in the future. This exact thing happed to me back in Spring and Summer 2018. In Spring 2018, while living in Colorado Springs CO, I went on a Spring time road trip up into Canada and then visited my hometown visiting my brothers in Washington State and while doing so a severe hailstorm hit southern Colorado Springs with golf-ball to softball size hail that killed two animals at the zoo. I heard about it on RUclips news and felt so lucky because before taking this Canada road trip I had just traded-in my Hyundai Sonata for a brand new 2018 Hyundai Kona. So my vehicle wasn't even 3 months old and a massive hailstorm like that would have completely destroyed it, it would have been a total loss and I was a local Lyft Driver for the area while doing college. So after that event occurred, I started thinking about insurance coverage policies and hail prevention devices on the market. I thought about if my vehicle were to get damaged by hail I would have to pay a $500 deductible for repairs, unless its considered a total loss. So, why no go ahead and spend up to around $500 worth on a hail prevention device of some kind, so I did. I spent $350 on a Lanmodo Vehicle Deployable Umbrella System for my car and a few months later I ended up actually using it to protect my car against golf-ball to baseball size hail. At first it started with normal BB size hail, then it stopped, so I go out to deploy my vehicle umbrella system, and about 20 minutes later golf-ball to baseball size hail started dropping from the sky. Everyone else's vehicles where getting damaged in some form or fashion and other residents ran out there with twin mattresses and cardboard boxes to throw on top of their vehicle to lighten the impact damage, but my vehicle was completely unharmed because I thought ahead and invested in Emergency Preparedness products. After that hailstorm there were only 2-3 other Uber/Lyft still active drivers on the road, so I made all my invested money back super fast because I got fare, after fare, after fare. So, thinking ahead in preparedness massively paid off. FEMA and the American Red Cross say statistically for every one dollar spent in Emergency Preparedness products and planning you will end up saving yourself between $4-$16 in damages and recovery fees in the long run and this statistical analysis was from Summer 2015, so before COVID-19 and inflation occurred. So that estimate is more like for every one dollar spent in preparedness planning and products you'll actually save somewhere between $8-$32 in damages and recovery fees now. Emergency Preparedness Planning will always payoff in the long run.
