when I first played Aquaria and came into this bit of the game, the sense of awe and beauty was so thrilling I had to give Naija a rest and just let the music flow through me. I've played many games. few have managed to meld sweet music and enthralling gameplay in the way that Aquaria did. it's such a sad story, but one that's well-told!
The first time I met Aquaria was ~14 years ago. It was so special among all tens of vedio games I played with my friend. Time passed and friends have their life. We no longer contact. But I will always remember that preciuos memory when I heard this music.
Played this game early on in my relationship when we moved together, and she watched me play it. 6 years later we broke up, but this game and this music is still there. Life is a series of painful separations and undiscovered waters. :')
I know she viewed my comment, she told me. We’re not friends anymore though, but I’m certain she is nostalic and will view this comment in a few years. Hej, Emilia. Hoppas allt är bra med dig!
Heh, the piano riff at the start starts off as 'requiem for a dream''s melody and then changes. This is an amazing song in its own right! I love the flute!
I'm doing exactly that, came here to listen to it again cuz I found myself whistling it outside :) Such a great piece, such a great game, must play it again!
Actually, it's the music for Home Waters...but I guess it does essentially serves the same purpose as Open Waters and could be considered a part of it.
These guys must be very inspired in making this game to come up with such superb music. By the way, this is my favourite tune indeed. But this is the in game version, does anybody know which one is the one from the original menu of the game? That one I believe was the best :)
In 31 August 2019 Alec Holowka, the co-creator of this beautiful game, took his own life as a result of the slanderous and baseless lies told by Zoe Quinn, a talentless hack of a "game developer" with a long and verifiable history of cheating with boyfriend, sleeping with game journalists to gain a spotlight and scammed her fans donation for game development. Let us listen to the wonderful world he helps created and pray that he find peace in the great cloud sea just as he once help me find mine in the the great sea of Aquaria...
@Akolyte01 I can hear similarities to that track with this song and Lost Waters. But it's very basic similarities and not really anything resembling plagarism.
I thought the music in Naija's home cave was nice and relaxing, and maybe the 'happiest' music in the game, but in doesn't seem to on YT, at least not in anything but 'let's plays' etc :-/
RIP Alec Holowka. Thank you for the amazing music.
he died??????
@@EldritchCloak yeah. some BS Zoe Quinn (yes, that one) said made him commit suicide.

Still one of my favorite songs from any video game OST.
Ahhh, a great song from a great game that existed before indie games were cool

i'm sorry to hear that man. Life is indeed as such. But the world is a beautiful place and may you find your next love in it :)
@@AndrewTube 6 years after posting that, I think I have ;)
@@Flyingtart That's awesome, glad you didn't give up on love. Hope all is well!
This isn't just one of the best indie soundtracks I've ever heard, but one of the best soundtracks I've ever heard, PERIOD.
1 word. Underrated
My roommate was playing this game the other day, and I heard this song for the first time. It's pretty much amazing.
One of the best games I have ever played.
I never tire of this song. It's like I have it on repeat inside of my heart.
This is my favorite Aquaria song. Sometimes i find myself whistling it.
I remmamber my self when i was young😢

I remember my older brother played this game once, several years ago, and I instantly fell in love with this song. So glad to hear it again.
Coming back 9 years later to say... yup, still as beautiful and inspiring as it was back then.
@@NeonF1sh1 I do the same haha. Aquaria both story and music become a part of your soul.
I love this song!
i totally love that one, it just sounds so harmonic and relaxed...could listen to it all day long :D
Makes sense that this has the most views of all the songs on the soundtrack.
The song in this gamr is masterpiece 😥💓
I'm doing exactly that, came here to listen to it again cuz I found myself whistling it outside :)
Such a great piece, such a great game, must play it again!
Killed by a hole that contributed absolutely nothing but quarrels to the industry...
que juego mas hermoso y su musica es genial
It sounds similar to the track "The Avatar's Love"
from the Avatar the Last Airbender series. I love them both
I actually got the game for free (a friend of mine got the Humble Indie Bundle II for me), but I still paid for its soundtrack. That's how good it is.
All I can think of is 2007 :'-(
Oh hello 2012 me.
HAHAHA ME TOO MAN
the game came out late 2007
Actually, it's the music for Home Waters...but I guess it does essentially serves the same purpose as Open Waters and could be considered a part of it.
Too peaceful. Must...not...fall...asleep. Must...not..fa...(snores)
Thank U Alec.
10/10 Game
The memories..
Childhood.
Yeah, all the tracks in Aquaria are really good. Of the three Open Waters tracks though, I think I prefer the third one the best.
The first time I heard this song, I immediately started singing along with Naija.
Just rewatching it on 2017.
They are making a soundtrack soon. :) they need to hurry though, I love this song.
its sooo, meloooodic bro
@Akolyte01 It's the same chord progression as in almost all the Aquaria soundtrack, that's why it sounds similar.
this reminds me of the .hack//sign ending theme and some of the background tracks

@Akolyte01
I don't know about you, but that sounds absolutely nothing like the aquaria soundtracks.
anyone know of the name of the very first song in the game when you just start playing?
ruclips.net/video/NEq8uSzqSA0/видео.html It simply reads Title as-far as I know.
Who sang Despacito to this?
What would that even sound like with the rhythm? Also, why is it named slow when the piece is fast? Irony I guess.
/watch?v=N6O2ncUKvlg
the main melody is very similar
Plagiarized from this TV show (released 2 years before the game)
watch?v=WUarnj_-G8U
They both sound different, just because they use similar instruments does not mean it's plagiarism.
