So much awesome! The Z30 is very cool! My favorite is the FLIR. It’s getting easier to sell admins and public these are tools and not just toys. So happy for this PD it’s not always easy to make this happen and get people on board. I was met with a lot of resistance when I went through a budget meeting last year. Mayor / city council just didn’t take it seriously.

I didn't see anyone spying, catching dangerous criminals and saving lives with search and rescue seems pretty positive to me.

Yeah.. I mean.. if you didn't watch the video then I guess you wouldn't have. Also, are you seriously implying that because you didn't see anyone spying In the video that is publicly posted to RUclips that you do not believe they use it to survey citizens? Give me a break. I just visited Montana, and they have 2 drone laws on the books. 1 applied to civilians, and 1 was limiting the use of drone recorded footage being used by LEO in court - because they have to have a warrant if they are specifically surveying you with the drone, and they weren't previously doing that - ie. they were spying on people without a warrant and they had to make a specific UAS law to stop them.
I don't actually have a problem with LE having drones. I think anyone who becomes a part 107 pilot should be able to operate it under the same regulations as anyone else. They are no different as far as I am concerned. As long as their use is legal, it's all good. If they get a warrant, then sure. If they get approval from the FAA to fly night operations; sure. So I just want to be clear that I have no problem with them having a drone, but I do have a problem with your intentional ignorance pretending as though you didn't just watch a 20-minute video on a surveillance system that can also be deployed in times of natural disaster. Every tool can be used for good and evil. Just like guns, police offers will use drones for both good and evil.

Man, that makes my Mavic Pro look like a small child's toy Drone! awesome bit of kit!!
Our local PD and FD share a Matrice 210 and a small stable of civilian and PD/FD pilots. The civilians (which will include myself in a few months I hope) are nice to have in "all hands on deck" situations where you need all your firefighters doing firefighter stuff rather than playing with the drones. I've had the chance to fly the Matrice 210 in my UAS classes and it's a nice drone, but there's just so many features to sort through when you play with the cameras.

The officer is right...practice practice practice. Also wrecking a few times teaches you valuable lessons. Twice the police in my town have asked me to gently assist them while I had my drone in the air. I respect them because they respect me. Fly safe!
I simply can not understand why this channel does not have more subscribers. I see “Drone” channels with twice the sub count but a quarter of the professionalism, video quality and acknowledge.

I think the police departments can really have a fantastic asset in drone technology! I really see this not only being convenient because it can be quickly deployed in a number of cases can save money where otherwise an expensive helicopter would have to be used and those are really only available to bigger departments! Thanks for sharing this, really awesome to see this technology being available to our men and women in blue!

With all the private drone pilots out there, I could see a huge assistance program in times of natural disasters. The public drone pilots would likely be more then happy to assist. I know I would.

A huge thank you for this video Ken. The guys at Splendora PD must be the best ambassadors for any Police force I’ve ever seen (I can’t see our British Police ever allowing a guided tour of a Police station). They are great sports for allowing you to fly the matrice and put it on you tube. If at all possible, give them my thanks and very best wishes, and keep safe.

This is actually pretty cool. I have been tempted to put a program together for our local police dept. I might just have to share this with them. Thank you Ken!
I work for a large Sheriff's office in Florida and I am one of the night drone guys. I have a Matrice 210 with the Zenmuse Z30 and a FLIR camera as well. Both can run on the 210 series and it's awesome. My patrol truck has a vault with custom foam that the drone sits in. Still have a cage for transport if necessary.

I was in Shenzhen, China last year and got a great demo of an awesome firefighting drone used by the Shenzhen Fire Services. We flew it from the DJI field. Good to see law enforcement in Texas embracing such tech.

Those guys were awesome!
I had a helicopter fly over the other day (in what I consider to be my home airspace) to take pictures of a re-development project. I could have provided the same pictures and probably better (varying heights and angles) for less than 1/10th of the cost. Helicopters aren't cheap. This is a great use for drones and probably a place where it's actually easier to get a program started due to less levels of approval. Large departments probably need to look at these smaller ones, who are able to implement "forward-thinking" programs. Great job and thanks to the Department!
