Thank you for the video, bought one in june last year, i checked today the mileage, 38 600 kms, i ride hard and tap it seriously, everyday, every week end.. love that bike and lifestyle with it, i use Motul 5100 and change every 4000 kms, it definitly improve the smoothness and vibration, but more important, that s it, beside tyres and a back bulb, and of course seal fork, ( once) that bike is reliable and really really good fun. Really good transport.
please explain to me how removing screws with a tool will cause damage, also explain to me why putting the oil filter cover screws back in the same hole is important when all the screws are identical.
OCD is a Mother Fu**er my friend, Failing to Plan is Planning to Fail. Tool amplify your arm strength, sometimes its good to be soft. Thread fatigue patterns are real like bigfoot aand yeti. I just keep it the same for piece of mind.
I hate having dealerships touching my stuff, cars, bikes, ATV’s, the knowledge and pride in today’s work force is virtually non existent. I do all my stuff myself. I even fix my stuff myself when it’s still under warranty, when I can.
It's cheap insurance because you never want to get stuck on the Trail with a simple fix. With dealerships you kinda have to put the game on them so there is some sort of accountability.
I only know CRF250L, I can fix any issue they have. KLX 250L has more power and better MPG I have heard. They look nice too with green or black paint combos. What's the budget and do you want Honda reliability?
I saw that the old oil wasn't much dark-colored. You can notice it was still semi-transparent brown, certainly not black. This is a sign of very little wearing and low frictions. You probably use a very gently wrist on this bike or you change the oil very often. I know people can do a lot of mileage without having problem if they do regular maintenance and don't push the engine too much, but what is the real lifespan of an engine like this? What is your opinion? I would like to buy the same bike. Thank you.
safewaycart I ride the hell out of this Engine. I change the oil every 3000 miles because of my riding style. since I use this moto for work I can't afford to be cheap. I will be doing a 25k mile review soon. I've only had the crf250l since June 2016.
Quality of Oil is everything, I only use Honda Pro Chemicals just cuz its cheap in SoCal. I do change the oil every 3000 miles or so because I ride the hell out of my CRF250L. Just like any Japanese moto, if you take proper care of the moto, it will last a good while. I will upload a 21k Mile update video soon. BTW buy the CRF250L if you wanna a solid, good MPG, lightweight, 20HP/14FT-LB of torque, slow ass solid dual sport moto.
MoneyMobbinMondays !!! 21k miles in such a brief period are pretty much, especially on a dual sport bike. A mild winter and highway ridetime certainly helped you out. I look forward to see your video update soon. Thank you for your latest news! Cheers!
Synthetic Engine Oil is too slippery... But by 20k it will be on Full Synthetic. I wait so long to allow the piston rings to heat treat themselves along with the side walls. Conditioning the micro cracks for longevity. I will be switching to Semi synthetic at 15k mikes.

Agreed - and replacing the oil filter cover bolts is ridiculous.
I just changed my oil and found metal in the filter, have you ever experienced that?
Filter looked clean you took out.
now i can change oil

and I just hit about 600 miles on my crf250l should I still do the oil change then do it every 1000 or 2000 miles
I think you must have service book or something.

Hi! It is better to buy, Honda CRF 250L or Kawasaki KLX 250S? I plan to drive asphalt/off-road 50/50.

First of all, I need reliability.

Ok, thank you for your feed-back. Take care. Bye

wait so do I don't really need to change my oil every 600 miles like honda says so.
I would change it every 600 the first 2000 miles. Then every 8000miles like the Honda Manual says.
Synthetic Engine Oil is too slippery... But by 20k it will be on Full Synthetic. I wait so long to allow the piston rings to heat treat themselves along with the side walls. Conditioning the micro cracks for longevity. I will be switching to Semi synthetic at 15k mikes.
rings are broken in, in the first 20 miles. it's all the bearings that take 600 miles
where can you find these parts (filter/gasket/gasket cover)? would they have them at a walmart or autozone/oreilly?
+cameronyears .... good day. I get all my parts from my local so cal hpnda dealership. Its my cheapest way to get these parts
