    You definitely didn’t do your homework before going to SJDS. Everyone knows the beach in town is to watch the sunset and party at night, the bay is naturally beautiful but you don’t get in the water there and there are many options (cheap and not so cheap) to get you to the other bays in the area and back to town throughout the day. Lodging wise, you get what you pay for, I have stayed in many beautiful properties in and out of town. Food wise there is variety and price options for the size of the town. SJDS is a great place for unpretentious people who want to chill and go with the flow. Vibe-wise You def belong in TULUM or Miami but you better fork up the $$$$ or you’ll be hating those places too. JS!!!

      You probably haven't seen any of my other content because I'm not interested in places like Tulum or Miami. Just explaining my thoughts on a place and personal experience 🤷🏻‍♀ Sure, I could have had a better experience but I didn't so it's not my top place to revisit! I also mentioned that while I didn't love it, other people might

    Some of the observations here are correct, others reflect a very limited amount of experience with the town and limited knowledge of Nicaraguan culture. Different people are looking for different things, and sometimes people don't find what they're looking for, even when it is there to be found. At least the title of the video, First Impressions, is honest; you don't pretend to know much. I do agree, though, that unless your main interests are surfing and/or partying, Granada or Leon are probably better towns to spend time in. But if you are in Nicaragua for surfing or partying, it's hard to top SJDS.

    • @spellboundtravels
      @spellboundtravels  8 часов назад

      Yeah I definitely don't have a lot of knowledge about the Nicaraguan culture. I'd still visit again but just do it differently next time according to my travel style and personal interests!

    there is a private tour that you pay and they take you around the volcanos and such and lets you go into the pool parties i guess some people just go there for the cheap alcohol and nice beaches, that vacation there 2 weeks for some feel like paradise and can cost you like 600$ meanwhile if you live in the USA like NY it will cost you thousands to go to miami for 2 weeks, there is atvs, horse riding on the beaches, surfing and spanish lessons all included in the tour not sure if it has changed or youd have to ask for it

    • @spellboundtravels
      @spellboundtravels  11 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah I can see why people would visit! I definitely preferred Ometepe and other parts of Nicaragua in comparison but it's fun if you want a party town

    Interesting. Some people like the truth. I am looking for places to live, and this is one of them. I am just worried about grid stability and weather. I live in Belize, and it is hot, SJDS seems to be even hotter... no breeze from the ocean?

      We only spent a week so there so I can't speak for most of the year but it's a bay so it didn't seem to get much of a breeze when we were there! I'd choose Ometepe over SJDS if that's an option

    I don’t like many beaches/places but I don’t have the heart to comment negatively about a place. So many nice locals who work hard to survive and your video just gives a negative impression of their home. I was just there a few days ago and I have my own impressions of it and that is that I love places with less people/tourist because it’s more calmer and cleaner. My husband, on the other hand, he can’t stop talking about how he wants to enjoy more of San Juan del Sur.

    Nicaragua has more than 100 beaches better than SJDS as a natural beach, but it is the environment created by visitors, residents, and varieties of close places to visit that make the difference. Comparing SJDS with developed turistically places like Miami, Rio, and Cancun is like comparing apples with bananas.

    • @spellboundtravels
      @spellboundtravels  3 месяца назад +1

  • @larry2142

    I am in San Juan del Sur right now and i agree with the issues of the level of filth on the beach and in the water and the lack of shade. As a "beach town" I expect the beach to be enjoyable for some water activities, but stepping on garbage on the beach and in the water is disgusting.

    Next time, go to Miami Beach and stay there forever. Don't even think about going out of the US, again. Or maybe you can go somewhere in the mid-west, where there's nothing much; not even a single cup floating in the water of a stream.

      I would ask someone who lives there. I’m from Nicaragua living in the US and my family was sharing so many beach towns to visit recently on my visit there. They said playa Gigante is nice, cleaner and with less tourists. San Juan del Sur is more of a party town however it does have some nice rental homes to stay in. Everything depends on your budget. I actually went to eat at Tuanis on the beach in San Juan del Sur and it was nice and modern.
