Incredible airplane and very informative video I've long known of the F82 and plan on doing an RC model of one
Generally returning the cylinder banks and heads happened shortly after an engine rebuild and I'm sure probably at each 100 hour interval
I'm just now seeing this 10 months late and I'm surprised that no one commented that the prop rotation (beginning about the 7-minute mark) "story" is backwards: The first setup had the props rotating OUT from the TOP, and for the first test flight of the first XP-82 aircraft, it simply did want to leave the ground during its take-off "run."
They then swapped the engines side-for-side, so that the blades rotated towards each other at the TOP. THIS, my friend, is what "fixed" the situation. If you look at photos of any of the P/F-82s, regardless of engine in them, except for the first prototype in EARLY photos, you'll see that I'm correct. I can supply photos of both P/F-82s at the NMUSAF.
