    That's cool, Scott. Thanks for making this video.
    There's a mini con at a library here in Vegas tomorrow, and a local artist who had to cancel at the last minute gave me his table. Like, I literally just found out with 24 hours to go before setup.
    I've never been to a con, much less tabled at Artist Alley.
    I have zero products to sell.
    Zero display setup materials.
    And I have like 80 bucks in my bank account.
    I'm going to head to Walmart now and get some of those cube storage racks, duct tape, twist ties and I don't even know what else (oh yeah...it's outside, and we're expecting a little wind, so I suppose I should try to secure my racks and stuff).

      Hey Chris, Sorry I didn't respond to this comment earlier, not sure why but it went into my spam folder, I just fished it out. That's quite a dilemma. I'm curious how it worked out. In that situation I would offer to draw sketches in addition to whatever inventory you can scrounge up from past artwork.

      Yeah it didnt go so hot. I hustled all day trying to get things ready, then I realized there was no way I'd have even a single product ready...and then the anxiety hit, and that was the end of that. I ended up not even going, and then I was depressed for the next couple days and didn't do anything productive. Blaaaahhh

    Thank you for the video. We're leaning towards experimenting with a backdrop, so I was wondering: How do you secure your prints to your backdrop?

    • @ScottSerkland
      @ScottSerkland  9 лет назад +2

      JammerLea One thing I would recommend is hanging baseball netting to make a grid , then you can hang your prints with binder clips. It mostly come in black and white. I have a black backdrop made from black out curtains so it is pretty well camouflaged. I have seen decorative fish netting in various color online but have never used them. I am going to try a new system for hanging prints using Velcro that I will demonstrate on the net video. Here's a link to the baseball netting... bit.ly/1FIp2eH

      Soferia Thanks. I'm glad you. liked it. I probably left a few things out, but it should be a good starting point for table set up.

      I was thinking your could have pop in some photos of the set ups you were talking about, like the 'shelving'

    • @ScottSerkland
      @ScottSerkland  9 лет назад

      Soferia I plan to insert some more photos into future videos. I just don't want to post pictures of other peoples booths or setups without their permission.

    • @Soferia
      @Soferia 9 лет назад

      thats not what I meant, you could look online for the items and then post the photo of what the item looks like, instead of trying to describe it without a image.

    • @ScottSerkland
      @ScottSerkland  9 лет назад

      Soferia Ah yes, I thought about that and will do some of that in the future. I do have links to all the items I talked about in the description if anyone wants to check that stuff out.

    Thanks for the tips. Question - I'm setting up in a 10'x10' corner booth with access to two 8ft tables. Would you recommend placing the tables along the aisles or inside the booth against the walls?

    • @ScottSerkland
      @ScottSerkland  8 лет назад +1

      +Craig Snodgrass Hey Craig, there are advantages to both layouts. The benefit to having the tables against the wall is that it creates a more open and inviting space, it also gives you a little extra space for extra floor displays. Be prepared to stand the whole time and welcome people in if you go this route. There are some attendees that find this intimidating and might not want to enter the space. A lot of people like to stick to the aisles and browse. I have my set up with the tables along the aisles when I do a 10 X 10. It also depends on what types of items your selling. Clothing seems to do well with an open both while prints and books may work better along the aisles.

      +Scott Serkland Thanks for the input, I appreciate it. I'm primarily selling prints, books and original art.
