Incredible skill by Mas to avoid crashing - could have been fatal
He didn't panic. Yes, it could've ended very badly indeed...
It's almost as if he's a professional !
Indeed good recovery although I would suggest the bike bucking like that was due to the power of the disc brakes snatching
@@davidlongurst The braking is done before the bend,....
Spectacular recovery.
These races are always more fun to watch when there are no clear favorites like Tadej and Jonas. I'm impressed with O'Connor so far but I think he'll crack as the tour continues and Roglic will be there to snatch victory from him by the end of it.
Roglic, will crash somewhere along the line. O'Connor will crack, he's very good, but not elite.
Yates will be in red by the end
Also when there is less flat stages. Sprint finishes is the worst.
Hoping Yates can still have a say as well, but now he'll be on the radar again also for any breakaways like that
so happy for Mas that nothing bad happened! - and a superbe stage in Andalucia's mountains.
Kinda secretly hoping Oconnor runs home with this. He's earning it!
He’s lost a total of 3 min to Roglic since the start of this race had he not had that big one stage he would not even be in the top 10 on the GC.
@@AndrewBlack-jy1mq Roglic is the favourite. O’Connor has not lost anything. His performance today was outstanding!
@@AndrewBlack-jy1mqdoesn’t count when you’re 4 minutes down pal
O'Connor will lose the leaders jersey by stage 16 in my opinion. Even he isn't expecting to keep it
🤘🏻🏴
If he wins , he definitely have to earn it! The attacks will come one many more stages from Roglic and others!
It’s pretty interesting so far for the GC. I think it was the stage before O’Conner went into the lead that i thought, oh this is gonna be a boring walk in the park for Roglic… ummm nope.
Bora / redbull keep giving up big time to GC threats
No pogacar, no vingegaard but fantastic racing from amazing riders - so much more exciting than usual!
Great stage win by Yates!!! Never count Yatesey out!!! Gotta love the F bomb and the "I don't give a shit about GC" comment from him in his post race interview😂
Carapaz is putting it all out there. Gotta love the way hes performing!! Another REAL contender for a podium spot!!
I have my eye on E. Mas for a podium and he possible win and he was going to take second place today but he had that serious mishap on the descent. I've not seen someone come so close to what could have been a really bad crash and then he saved it!! Absolutely incredible save by E. Mas!!
I've also got my eye on M. Landa for a podium. He's been doing really well also
Not expecting B. O'Connor to keep the leaders jersey past stage 16
This is going to be and has been a great Vuelta!! There are some surprises and some riders that are going to have a real chance to win thia thing. We've got some great battles to come. Love it when we don't know who is going to win
🤘🏻🏴
For me this is the most entertaining Tour of the year
Tour de France was incredible this year !
Without a doubt!
It was just pogacar dominace it was boring
Rigjt. There is no Tadej or Jonas.
Human level matches are the most fun.
The valueta has been the most exciting tour last year and now this year it is once again
If Enric and Pavel accelerate off the front is that a Mas-Siv attack?
Of course it is, since it makes a great pun.
Playing their hometown Bristol this weekend.
Is anyone going to mention that Adam Yates won and it was a great ride!!!
One where the popcorn 🍿 was very much required! Best commentator! 🎤 Best!
People saying "if Pogi was here he'd smash all these guys" and things like that . . . Who wants to see a race where you've basically got a guaranteed winner when you can watch a REAL race where there are probably 5 lads that could genuinely win this thing. THIS is way more exciting than the TDF because we have NO CLUE whats going to happen each day. We've got a REAL race on our hands!! Some great battlea to come this next 2 weeks!! Its been full of excitement already!! Cant wait to see this!!!
🤘🏻🏴
My thoughts exactly.
@@claylomax I've seen 3 comments talking about how Pogi would smash everyone in this race and other things like that. That's not a race!! THIS IS A RACE!!!
🤘🏻🏴
Etapa de locura bien por Richard CARAPAZ felicitaciones demostrando su buen nivel
He's so goddamned exciting to watch.
Jfi... Discovery+ and Eurosport are now not available in Andorra where +175 of the top pros live and where many of the key riders in this Vuelta live
Maybe because Andorra is full of tax Dodgers. If they paid proper income tax as per their passports it might not be excluded.
Pog would be crushing these guys.
Who wants to see that? I want to see a race where we don't know who's going to win. One where there are REAL battles for every position!! What's the point of watching a race when you have a guaranteed winner before the race even starts?
🤘🏻🏴
Yates man, whatta hero. The stage today was a summer grand tour highlight. Kinda glad the top 3 isnt here in Spain, then we see what the others are built off
Carapaz one if not my favourite rider right now, we need more combative riders like him
Wow.. Mas is master avoid crash. Skill mann in cycling 🎉

amazing stage, AY really took a risk going 44lm out. well done.
Damn! This looks more exciting than Le Tour De France 2024!
What's up pal
I ABSOLUTELY AGREE!! We have a bunch of riders that have a REAL chance at the win!! I've had my eye on Mas and of course Carapaz. Landa is doing quite well also. It's been a great race so far and we are in for some great battles in the next 2 weeks. I'm loving this!! So much better than TDF where we knew it would be Pogi for the win and if we got lucky we would get to see one of 2 guys win (Pogi or Jonas). At least here we have several riders that could win. I say there's probably 5 riders that could get the top podium spot. It's a REAL race!!
ENJOY THE RACE PAL😉
🤘🏻🏴
Well done Adam Yates.
These highlights and commentary are spot on 👍
I live in the States and I have Eurosport BUT the American network NBC has the rights to La Vuelta and TDF so I am FORCED to watch those 2 races on NBC or their streaming service "Peacock" and my Eurosport streaming service isn't allowed to stream it here in the States. The commentary by the American network is so awful. It's just terrible!! I can't believe I can't watch on Eurosport. It's really annoying
🤘🏻🏴
4:08 winner perspective
Man, Mas was lucky that just in this corner the guard railing was set back by a few meters, that could have been a horrible crash. Still, to even keep it upright in that scenario, phew.
Adam looking like a UAE legend he is
0:58 That's some absolutely pristine asphalt. Hopefully not too hot to make it slick. I assume it was paved for the race.
Cracking day's racing by the looks of it!
Great stage win by Yates!!! Never count Yatesey out!!! Gotta love the F bomb and the "I don't give a shit about GC" comment from him in his post race interview😂

🤘🏻🏴
All O’Connor has to do is sit on 2nd and 3rd for a sweet ride to victory, go the Aussie. Carapaz is always so entertaining.
I expect him to lose the leaders jersey by stage 16. Even O'Connor isn't expecting to keep the jersey
🤘🏻🏴
Easy to say, hard to do on tough mountain stages with big climbs. Also how well can his team even try to control those stages for him?
@@kennykaniff yeh as long as Roglic doesn’t crash he’s looking good . Love to see Yates go well too.
@@Captinfun101 I was surprised to see Yatesey lose so much time in first week but yesterday's performance was GREAT. Roglic just needs to keep the rubber side down and he looks pretty good for this but we've got several lads looking great. My eye has been on Mas. Carapaz and Landa are doing really well too but Landa is not the spring chicken he once was. I think he's just hanging on so he doesn't lose time but he's doin a great job of that. His performances have really surprised me. I don't expect Ben to have the jersey after stage 16 but we'll have to see. Some big stages to come. If Ben still has it after stage 16 I definitely don't expect him to still have it after stage 20 and then the final ITT on stage 21, that combined with the final weeks climbs could knock him completely off the podium. Not sure Ben can hold onto the jersey. He doesn't expect to either
🤘🏻🏴
@@hobmarg his team is one of the biggest issues for him holding the jersey. They can't control these stages for him. Ben is going to be left alone on most if not all these stages and he won't be able to respond to all the attacks alone. That is a real problem for him
🤘🏻🏴
I really hope Mas puts on a show over the next couple of weeks
He is the one I've had my eye on!! I think he's got a definite podium spot and a real chance at a TOP podium finish. Carapaz is in real contention also. Landa is doing really well also. I've been surprised by his performance. This has been and is going to continue to be a great Vuelta!! We really don't know who is going to win. We are seeing several riders in real contention for the win. This is great racing!!
🤘🏻🏴
the vuelta delivers again
Strong Richard Carapaz. Strong EF 2024
Rooting for carapaz!!
go Yates!!!
Great effort 🔥
Está a ser uma grande vuelta, pena a desistência do João Almeida, ainda assim esta corrida está super aberta e com muitos corredores com ambição e possibilidade de ganhar.
I overslept yesterday, bekoz of koffit, obviously.
Yates could win now the team will ride for him.
Did carapaz race all the three grand tours this year??
This is no put down of Sepp Kuss - he's still gonna be one of the best mountain support riders in the world, but I have to say "I told you so" to all the people that thought he was going to magically become a contender for major tours after his win in the Vuelta last year. I said it then: "As much as I would LOVE for him to become a tour contender, it's not going to happen."
Love him too, but he ain’t a GC rider. Last year was more of an anomaly.
He's not even keeping up with tier 3 riders on the climbs so has to be out of shape, at least compared to last year.
Personally I wasn't expecting him to podium. Don't get me wrong, he's an incredible rider. I just think last year's La Vuelta was a "one off". The stars aligned and he found himself in a position where he could win. Now it's just a question if he'll get top 10 but it's no surprise to me at all
🤘🏻🏴
What did Yates have to breakfast
Poor Mas… summit finish today and he would have gained 1 minute
Yeah but that could have been much worse. He didn't get hurt
@@TarsoBsAs He did well to stay on the bike there, it could have been so nasty.
Extraordinarily lucky there was a shoulder there, or he would have gone over. Masterful climber.
One of the best saves I've seen in years!! That could have been really bad!! He is lucky to still be in the race!!
🤘🏻🏴
I find this more entertaining when, there is no clear favorite and no Jonas or Tadej.
It's a REAL race!!! We've got probably 5 lads (maybe more) that could genuinely win this thing. We have some great battles to come. This is great. I love ALL races but who wants to see a race where there's basically a guaranteed winner. That's no fun. I still watch because I'm a HUGE fan of the sport but I want to see a race where there is nothing that is guaranteed. I want to see some battles. I want excitement. Pogi and Jonas are fun to watch but you know one of them is going to win and where's the excitement in that?
🤘🏻🏴
where is Almaide?
DNS stage 9. Covid
🤘🏻🏴
Grand tours without Pogi and Jonas definitely more and entertaining from racing standpoint
ABSOLUTELY!!! 💯
It's actually a RACE!! We do t know who's going to win!! This is great. We've got some real battles to come and we've also got a handful of lads that could genuinely win this thing. I'm loving it!!!
🤘🏻🏴
Its only a.mtter.of time. Roglic is gonna make up the time. Oconnirmis like thomas vockler, hed better enjoy his time in red
C.o.v.i.d😂😂😂😂
STOP SAYING 'PELERTUN'!
These descent finishes have to stop. Someone’s gunna get hurt pushing it down a mountain.
COME ON!!!! It wasn't even a descent finish. It was a flat finish. What difference is a descent finish as opposed to a regular descent anyway? If you're fighting for position it doesn't matter where the descent is. Every descent is dangerous. Are we supposed to take out all descents😂. That's ridiculous
🤘🏻🏴
@@kennykaniff big difference descending hour 2 of a ride and hour 4 of a ride. Let’s see you go 90km/hr crossed eyed from a ridiculously hard day and gain time on GC. Unless your Tom pidcock you ain’t gaining any significant time at the end of a day like that.
@@Thesailingrunner First of all these guys are professionals so it's irrelevant if I can do it or not. The amount of crashes on these descents is very minimal. It's a common thing to have a descent 3 or 4 hours into a stage. I understand what you're saying about hour 2 or hour 4 but it doesn't matter where the descent is, if a guy wants to take time he's going to do it. I think your view on this is pretty nuts to be honest
🤘🏻🏴
They are lucky Pogacar isnt there. He would have destroyed these guys.
Where's the fun in that? We've actually got a REAL race in our hands!! No guaranteed winner. That's what makes this better than the TDF where Pogi was basically the guaranteed winner. It was boring. Everyone knew he would win. No battles!! This is REAL racing!!!
