    Those are some beautiful phlox! Maybe some rudebekia would contrast nicely. As for white you could do some coneflowers. But both these options will probably be the same height. Mulch is the best finishing touch!

    • @simplybloom
      @simplybloom  2 года назад +1

      Oh I love both those flowers! I’m just worried about the height and having the phlox block them. I could always move two phlox to the back next spring when they’re still dormant and then plant the rudbeckia and coneflower in front. Good idea!

  • @FlowerFanatic
    @FlowerFanatic 2 года назад +3

    I agree…Rudebekia would look great since they bloom about the same time. I think yellow!

    beautiful phlox. I also love proven winners

    • @simplybloom

      Yes they are definitely the most beautiful thing in my garden right now! Makes me realize that I need more plants for late summer because most of my perennials bloom late spring/early summer

    Hi there! I found this video super helpful! Planning on buying these PW ultraviolets! at 0:12 when you showed when you first planted them- did you buy a quart? or gallon? Trying to gauge how mine will look when I order! Thanks!!!

      Hello! I’m glad you found this helpful! I bought one gallon sizes. This will be the third growing season and I’m very excited to see how they will look this year!

    I’m back…haha, but heliopsis is a beautiful false sunflower that’s a bit taller and pairs beautifully with phlox! I think you already have it right…just divide some of it.

    Dear Friend, are these long blooming? About when do they start and about how long do they last before winter? Thank you so much. I’m in Chicago Zone 6a. Thank you Bestie 💕

    • @simplybloom
      @simplybloom  Год назад +1

      Hello! Mine start blooming about mid summer and they usually lay until my first frost. I do have an early frost date as I live in a zone 3 so I’m not sure if yours would last until your first frost. But I absolutely love mine and it’s the first thing people ask about when they drive up to my house! It also has a very faint sweet smell that smells absolutely amazing every time I walk by.

    Thank you so much for doing this video!! I love this phlox! 💜💜💜 So, in the winter are you saying it does stay green and leafy instead of being just sticks until it blooms again?

    • @simplybloom
      @simplybloom  9 месяцев назад

      They will stay green through several hard frosts and depending on what zone you’re in they could stay green. However being in my zone three where it gets -40° it does turn brown. But out of most of my perennials it stays green the longest after a lot of the other ones have been hit with a hard frost.

    How many quarts did you get? I am obsessed with Creeping Phlox I think its beautiful, and planted at my house and mom's. I LOVE this new Phlox its incredible!!!! Does it spread? How many quarts did you buy last year?
    Extremely impressive esp when you put down the additional mulch. 🎉❤🎉

    • @simplybloom
      @simplybloom  8 месяцев назад +1

      I got 4 one gallon pots. They don’t spread as by self seeding but they will mature and you can divide them every 3-5 years and spread them that way. I am obsessed and I want them everywhere in my garden!

    Great color! How is the resistance to powdery mildew? What is the pink flower to the left?

    • @simplybloom
      @simplybloom  Год назад +1

      It has a great resistance to powdery
      mildew. We get a decent amount of humidity during the summer and a lot of my other plants get the powdery mildew but these phlox show no signs! The pink flower to the left is an asiatic lily. And I’m so sorry but I can’t remember the variety, it is one of my favorites!

    I'm curious how you tended to the phlox. Did you cut it in the fall, the spring is there maintenance involved?

    • @simplybloom
      @simplybloom  9 месяцев назад +1

      I typically cut mine back in the early spring but we had a weird winter so I cut it back a couple months ago. Give it some slow released fertilizer right when they break dormancy in the early spring and sit back and wait for the beautiful blooms! If you have a long growing zone deadhead the spent blooms and there might be enough time for a second set of blooms.

    For a pop of yellow, plant heliopsis Tuscan sun, a perennial sunflower that has a really long bloom time. Look up garden answer- Laura’s video about it. You’ll be impressed

    • @simplybloom
      @simplybloom  Год назад

      Great suggestion! I have some heliopsis going wild in a different corner of my garden and I was thinking of transplanting some of it to the corner with the phlox. And yes I love Laura!

    Last comment I promise…sorry to bug. I’m sitting waiting to pick my son up from football…dang it those are both only hardy to zone 4! Zone 3 is challenging 😥

    • @simplybloom
      @simplybloom  2 года назад +1

      Haha I love all the comments! I think I agree and am thinking a nice pop of yellow will be beautiful! I love the idea about the heliopsis! I have some that spread outside of my flower bed and my husband has just been mowing around it lol so that will be perfect to move behind the phlox! I didn’t even realize that there was a white liatris! Oh it’s so hard gardening in a zone 3 sometimes, so many beautiful things that I can’t grow 😩 thanks for watching!

    They are called ultraviolet? Do they glow at night? I know this sounds silly but they are called ultraviloet

    • @simplybloom
      @simplybloom  10 месяцев назад

      They don’t really glow at night but I can still definitely see them shining bright during dusk when everything else is dark. Their color just stands out and it’s the first thing people ask about when they come over to my house.

      The white ones do glow, I have the white, pink and now ultraviolet in Luminary series of Phlox. I will never buy any other phlox now that I have found this one, it is so incredible, it is mildew resistant and beautiful.
