Dom, regarding the rusty screws in the engineers box, throw them in a metal sieve supported In the electrolysis tank and stir them up every now and again if you want to clean them up👍 DVLA a nightmare they’ve been on strike, not helping mate. Please don’t keep showing the Parwelder makes me drool, one day I’ll swap out my mig for one🤣 Fantastic Vlogs keep them coming love every minute. Say a big thanks to everyone at the repair shop, great show, Stay Safe👍
I have thousands of those GKN screws too, Dom. They were a wedding present 46 years ago from my next door neighbour, along with nails, panel pins etc., and some hand tools. I have used them in hundred of diy projects and still have more left than I'll ever use.
Another excellent video. I’m not a scooter fan personally but I feel your frustration with the DVLA🤨. Just a thought that tomato plant could be a new variety...A Dom-Tom. 👍🏻
Now regretting deciding not to go to the boot fair that day, It's only round the corner. Rigden is a very common local Whitstable name. Fantastic find, well done Dom!
Hi Dom thanks so much for your vids I love them also the repair shop is my favourite program.your enthusiasm really is refreshing. I am a woodturner who loves making and creating things in my workshop at Battlesbridge Essex and my wife sells some of my stuff in a shop but I don’t really care if they sell I just enjoy creating stuff.anyway thanks for your inspiration, cheers the village Woodturner (Les)
My dad had a chest exactly like that one. He worked in Chatham Dockyard after WW2, maybe that one came from a similar source (no ‘rank’ on the name plate). No Britool spanners? Would be the cream of the crop at a car-boot sale - when I was an apprentice (1960s) all my spanners and sockets were Britool. Expensive but good and tough. Unfortunately the name is now owned by a French parent company so Britool is no longer British. Spring washers to stop loosening from vibration... in a Land Rover? Surely not needed😁! Love the stuff you do Dom. Thanks. Les
I got told off many years ago as an apprentice for using nyloc's and spring washers on the same bolt...."only one or the other NOT BOTH !😄 Funny what you remember 😎
Well done for finding thouse lovely boxes dom 👏 Who doesn't like a car boot? Finding stuff with a history that can be reused is so great Better than chucking it down the tip ! And it's lost for ever . Great video mate 👍 Frank
Hi Dom. Love your RUclips content, as well as repair shop. As you say the joy n happiness that comes from bringing by gone days item brought back to life. Your skills and presentation are second to nun. I hope the link I sent you for your Land Rover has helped you at all. All the very best to you sir. Plus the team at the repair shop.
Suprised that you have Aluminium & Stainless in contact in your Defender rebuild - when used in boats the moisture causes electrolytic corrosion unless you manage to electrically insulate the pieces and the fastenings. Sheets of thin plastic and lots of the Yellow paste ( I can't remember what it was) provided a partial cure.
Another great video as usual. The sea chest looks great and such a bargain. One tip I saw about the tomato plant. The flowers are both male and female in the same flower rather than some male and some female. When the flowers grow, tap the flowers firmly, making sure the open end is downward. This makes the male part release the pollen and pollenates the female part. This sets the flowers and they should then produce fruits as the plant grows. Maybe you could pass the tip on to Lucia. I did this with our 2 plants and we had a constant supply of tomatoes a few at a time for several weeks.
Hello Dom, The Nettlefold screws are nice find for your line work, another name to look out for is GKN (Guest Keen & Nettlefold) the name in the day for nuts and bolts. Nice to see the Defender coming on. Cheers Simon
Great video Dom! Really enjoyed the mix. Another wonderful haul from the car boot sale too, loving the sea chest! Great to get a peek behind the scenes at the museum. I hear you've been giving out homemade honey as well as tomato plants. Hope the DVLA come up trumps soon, you must be chomping at the bit to get on that Vespa! Oh and Happy Birthday for today Dom, all the best. Lynne
Dom, S J Rigden who owned that chest was likely related to the Whitstable boatbuilders Anderson, Rigden & Perkins, founded 1917, closed in the 1980s. Boatbuilder Alan Staley of Faversham was apprenticed there and has written a history of the yard.
I always seem to miss the sea chests and engineers boxes, they always say you should have been here last week now I know who's buying them all. Only just found your channel and I'm loving it keep them coming thanks Dom👍👍
fantastic vlog video Dom it was so nice of you to film walking in them lovely areas and showing round the grid shell also to hear about the tomato plant of Luchia's and to here reaction to her new Domato plant lol :) also showing a little bit on the update of the defender :)
wow and sorry iv only just found your channel, been watching the repair shop for ages and brings a tear ever time,Love it.awsume program and crew.amazing retorations im sure im going to love this channel :o)
Seeing those screws in the boxes took me back to the 80's when I was working for G.Wimpey dept 18 , and had to clear the stores on two sites . And collected loads of tools screws all sorts , ah happy days , well some were
The Defender is coming on nicely, and I can appreciate that while that one is business, there's this series IIA sitting outside waiting to come in and get some TLC. Can't wait for it. Keep up the wanderings round the Repair Shop site, it's nice to see more about the area
I've enjoyed all of your video's keep them coming, like the really relaxed feeling about them. Have to stay away from car boot sales, to many restoration projects on the go already.
Made up i came across this video i didnt know you had a channel love what your doing and its brilliant to see a bit of behind the scenes of the repair shop, big fan 👏
Dom,@2.26 chuck them in the bin & buy some decent ones Vise-Grip, i've had some of mine for 40 odd years, they still lock perfect but the jaws are wearing out now, i'd use nothing else but Vise-Grips
I have an old engineer box in my garage which is ex military. The one with the little inset brass twisty locks. Even felted inside on some of the draws, love it! Great vid Dom. Shame about that Domato plant not producing but looks like plenty more where that came from..
Great vlog, I envy you that sea chest and engineer boxes, so much history. The defender is coming along nicely, everything so well thought out and made. Hope the Domato is very fruitful!
Really nice to see things are slowly progressing with the Landy, Bummer about paperwork for Vespa, but just means more work and less play for Dom till it arrives! More chats with your colleages at 'The Shop' would be really good, nice to see the relationship outside of the actual filming. Keep up the Great Work!!
Did Lucia remove the side shoots from the tomato? If not that would explain why she had a healthy looking plant with no fruit, removing the sideshoots concentrates the plants energy into growing fruit. Also limiting its overall height to around five foot also helps to promote fruit production!
The Defender project looks great....coming along nicely. As for the DVLC, those wheels go slowly, bide your time....it’ll be worth the wait. Loving the videos and the insights to the repair shop are great. Thank you.
dom you are the man no two ways about it so down to earth britain was built by people like you, you should be awarded the man in the shed award keep it up
Dom, I think you may need at least 2 tomato plants for cross pollination to get them to fruit, thats why grow bags are designed to take 3 plants, so Luchia's efforts maybe in vain again ! You might have to cough up another couple of plants for her !! lol. Keep up the good work mate, I've only just found your channel, gonna work my way all your other vids, through you are definitely a man after my own heart when it comes to car boots sales !!
Really great video, please can you post some info on the aeroplane that's sat on the defender's bonnet it looks so cool , keep up the good work ,kind regards 😄👍
Dom.Ive found that using stainless fixings on a landrover body seems to accelerate the galvanic corrosion problem...id reccomend using ally rivnuts and fixings dude!
Great video Dom. Love those chests you bought at the boot sale. Bet you find something to fill them with pretty soon. Great to see the defender progress. I can almost smell the coffee! ☕️
Hi Dom. Nice of you to take time for the Review, You can't have to many chest s am with you All the way, Had my 75 Birthday And my heart goes out to you , Fantastic , love the market's , (hand's can't hold much these days , but with you All the way, ) All the Best Brian 🤗
I love the font stuff from your previous life on the walls. I went to the Weald and Downland museum a couple of years ago because I hadn't been since I was a child in the mid-70's, and it was fantastic and far more interesting as an adult. I saw the workshop from the end of the lane it's on, more by luck than judgement, only because I overheard someone point out where it is.
Yet another great video Dom - Come on DVLA pull your socks up - Pls send Dom the Vespa logbook urgent. Great car boot finds Dom toolboxes look amazing - perhaps Suzie could make your leather hammer beautiful again. Like you I think birds use my car for target practice !!!! Mine was the only car in my works car park absolutely covered in the white stuff 😠 Thanks again for the views of the museum, and seeing the lovely Lucia - looking forward to next week's video 👌😊

Love the channel Dom. I've been waiting two months for a reg doc for an Alfa I bought. Now sent off the V whatever it is to request a replacement for a lost document. I'm sure the people who work there are doing their best, but I share your frustration.

Hi Dom. It sounds as if Lucia is feeding the tomato plant too soon. Lots of growth no fruit! Don’t feed until the first fruit is starting to form.
I didn’t know that! Thank you, I’ll pass it on
