    I test drove the VW up! yesterday and would love to test drive the Adam. I know the up! is positioned below the Adam, but perhaps Oper's ambitions are a bit high? I have no doubt this is a good car, but a test drive will surely tell the truth.

    i am still driving with a old opel zafira of 8 years old and with a temporarly license since i still do not have done the practical test, but god, since i saw the opel adam rocks and read reviews claiming it is a decent vehicle, i am honestly half hoping that first of all, i soon will have a solid job with income, and second, that the car either breaks down so i can buy this car or that i simply will have the money for it by plenty,....and of course that by then my driving skills have reached their peak :)

    The 1.2 and the 1.4 are slow, unless you buy the 1.4 S model. The one to go for is the 1.0 turbo 3cyl with 115 hp. This is a gem, but not many around.

    no diesel engine? why? when will it be available?

    • @rsajay6256
      @rsajay6256 7 лет назад +1

      Internationally it's been available for about 2.5 or 3 years now with the naturally aspirated 1.4 motor and about 2 years with the 1.0T. In South Africa it's been around for about 15 months, with the N/A 1.4 and 1.0T ecotec. The Adam S 1.4T came onto the market here in SA around the end of March 2016, a week after I bought my 1.0T LOL To be honest I don't think the Diesel option will happen, the world seems to be moving toward high pressure injection petrol systems - they operate very much like diesels and have great efficiency and low emissions, not as efficient or clean (apparently) as diesels but they seem to be the middle ground between green and cheap to manufacture - just look at all the tiny petrol turbo cars out there right now. Almost every manufacturer has a few models and engine options. I've had mine for 9 months and I've done 30 000 kays without missing a beat, and if you consider how much trouble I've had with more expensive Italian superbikes, I'd call that a win LOL Incidentally, this engine is smaller than the ones in my Triumph Speed Triple R and Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200 and it uses less fuel than either :D *****edit***** I do have to make one big side note here: The Adam marketing all points toward customisation, this is for Europe not for South Africa. all we get here are consignment vehicles built to model specs with the most popular options. I wanted a specific color - nope sorry. I wanted other wheels than the "Adam Glam Roulette" - nope sorry. I wanted the pop-out bicycle carrier under the boot floor - nope sorry. At the end all the nope sorry's earned me a R40 000 discount but dude I really wanted that damn bicycle rack :D Had to spend R6000 on Thule Wingbars and a Thule Freeride carrier to cart my Stumpjumper around. All you can customise are the plastic trims on the front grill, the side mirror covers, the interior rear view mirror cover, and various mostly naff sticker kits. Even the body kit extensions for bumpers and the spoiler are unavailable in SA. All in all, would I buy another one? Yes, and I'd keep this one, slap an aftermarket boost controller on it to stretch the boost another 1200RPM, boost tapers off at 4500RPM, maybe for reliability or maybe because if it didn't it would surpass the 1.4T motor in performance..... o_O

    Obviously the one is better than the other. You’re so obviously selling the one over the other too. It’s hardly a review.

    I have been driving Opel for a good few years and have had trouble free motoring for years. until i bought an Opel adam and i believe this is the biggest load of shit i have ever owned. it has 125km on the clock and i have replaced the tie rod ends. something i have never done on any of the models which is well over 20 yrs old. I have had to replace the ABS unit with help from my son in our workshop. This was due to the agents being incapable of even detecting a fault and telling me every thing was ok. Meanwhile the vehicle was swerving violently to the right when braking. All this for a cost of R8500 for a diagnostic test and service, i think they have trained baboons as motor mechanics.
