This is absolutely beautiful! I have recently found you and you have inspired me to have far more patience when I am painting and to prepare and plan more. I am definitely going to buy your book. Also, I find it so difficult to paint the little stems as my hand invariably shakes or I press down too hard on my brush so they end up looking thick and clumsy instead of delicate like yours - have you any tips to help with this please?
Hi Sue, thanks so much for your lovely message. I think a shaky hand is best sorted out by doing some practice brush strokes and basically warming up your painting before you get going on the main piece.
I'm trying to learn from you and get some lights on before I try to paint with watercolors, but I have to ask one thing that's been bothering me: why don't you turn the paper over if you're in danger of smearing the paint? (I must say that I am an absolute begginer)

Oh I hate it, I’m throwing this away... that’s me every single day. One thing I’ve noticed, though, is that I should wait till the following day to throw it away. More than half of the time I look at it again and wonder why I thought it was awful.

Very beautiful! Just a question: can one turn the paper to avoid sticking one's hand in the painting?
Yes of course, I just didn’t because I wanted to make sure you could see everything for filming
My brushes don't stay wet like hers. I feel like everything dries before I can add any color to blend or detailing. I never know what brushes to get.
