- Activist ship leaves Australia in campaign to stop Japanese whalers.
The ship from the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society will be part of the organisation's latest campaign to stop Japanese whalers in the Southern Ocean.
That would have sucked if Steve Irwin actually was there. I'd probably have to toss a stingray at him.LMAO.
@Knothole When poled, fewer than 10% of japanese people have EVER eaten whale meat, and of those that have, fewer than 5% eat it on a regular basis, price being the main reason. The diet of the Japanese people is quite safe from SSCS.
Go hard Sea Shepherd !!! give em hell !!!
@sierrakilo9
That is a specious argument. After the unregulated western industrial whaling (for oil) of the last century drove some species to be endangered ended, the whales numbers quickly came back up. There are now more than 600,000 arctic Minkes alone.
And now the whaling is limited, and sustainable. The antis are just against any meat consumption or killing "cute" animals.
@SierraAV8R Yet!
@las0331 10% doesn't sound much but that's about 12,7 million people and 5 % is about 6,35 million - that's a lot of people eating whalemeat.
Isn it bad luck to rename a ship?
Why on earth would anyone want to eat whale blubber, sushi & rice every day, you can get salmonella from that, yuck. I thought Mc Donald's was all over the world now?
@Knothole there is plenty of fish smartazz, whales and dolphins is a dangered species + if this whale hunting continues there will be nothing left..., and it's illegal.
