Que Give three reasons behind degradation of water resources.
Ans :
• Industrialisation: Industries generate a variety of waste product which pollute the water resources when thrown in water resources without any treatment.
• Human Activities and urbanisation: Human activities like over utilisation and over exploitation of water have also led to degradation of quality of water resources.
• Modern-day agricultural inputs: Tools such as pesticides, insecticides and many other chemical products are used in farming nowadays. This decreases the quality of groundwater resources.
HYV seeds produce good yield but also need plenty of water.

Three reasons for decreasing quality of freshwater
- modern day agriculture
HYV SEEDS - These high yielding varieties seeds require more water than ordinary seeds from groundwater
FERTILISERS, CHEMICALS, PESTICIDES - excessive use for superior quality of food crops depleting ground water table
DECREASE IN FERTILITY OF SOIL requires more water to use it again for agriculture
- Industrial purposes
Setting up of MNCs and large industrial houses leave polluted wastes in water bodies without treating them, making them hazardous for human use

Reasons for the declining of quality of freshwater in India are as follows -
• Adoption of modern farming methods ~ the use of hyv seeds , and other reformed modern farming tools although promises a good harvest , but it consumes more water and results in it's quality degradation.
• Use of pesticides and other chemicals deteriorates the overall quality of soil and degrades the fertile power of the soil. All these chemicals are absorbed into the soil resulting in it's quality declination.
• industrial effluents are dumped into the rivers, it not only contaminates the drinkable water but also causes several water borne diseases.

They collapse mostly when there there are floods, as the water level and pressure to hold it behind both increases.
when there are situations of high pressure of water like in floods,the water exerts such an enormous pressure that the dam gates break and the water rushes to the reservoir.thats how they collapse
