Listen, 9th grade art class, made an owl towel holder, mom kept it in her bathroom area... Just cleaned it all out, the dust & ick was alll over it...omgosh...45 years old. Soooo nostalgic!!!
Wait...wtf? I'm 58, I made that owl when I was 15...sooo according to alexa that was 43 years ago? Nonetheless, was one of my favorite projects of all time! And no matter how much my mom cussed about the price she kept it in her vanity area for....43? Years... When you get a fun macrame pattern...all hell can break loose!! Funnnnn!!!!
@melaniefisher8823 - OMG!!! Vintage Macrame! It could be worth a fortune now. I love that your mom still has it after all of these years. That is a good mom. I love her!
@melaniefisher8823 - 45...43 after a certain age...it's kinda all the same...am I right? I can't wait to learn more knots so that I can make super cool wall hangings...that's my dream. But first...I really want to make that owl :)
@andreakarlsson7927 - I know! Isn't it crazy. I think all of those memories is why I want to do more macrame. I think I really need that owl in my life :)
I think we all macramed. In the early 80's, I made several plant hangers. Then I made a large, glass top, hanging table. Need a long hallway to organize very long stands. It was a project! I ended up selling it several years later. Yes... everyone should macrame!!!❤
@chiagirlmyfatcat896 - I love that you already know how to Macrame! I never learned...but always wanted to, so that's why this kit was so interesting to me. I so glad it was easier than I thought. Now I just need to learn the other knots so that I can make super amazing wall hangings :)
@ThisisRealLifeWithSheri It is fun and I got hooked on it for a while! I loved the spiral knots and think every project had them somewhere...:) you 'll do great!
Oh my gosh, reminds me of my childhood. All you need is a cork wall and one of those pin and string picture thingys 😂 Sheri, in real life, we’d be friends. I think we have the same affliction, we like starting new projects because we like the challenge but then once we’ve mastered the skill, move onto something else lol. I’m currently teaching myself to crochet little animals, pumpkins and cactus plants lol. I’m sure it won’t last long and I’ll be onto the next thing 😂
@z0zRAMC - I know...right?! That's exactly what I thought when I saw the directions for the Owl...totally something my mom had hung on our walls. :) I wished you lived near me so that we could learn new things together. I just watched the Martha Stewart Documentary and she said...we should be learning one new thing a day and I stand by that. I love that you are learning to crochet! That and knotting are next on my list of things I want to learn. I just really want to make a giant crochet blanket :) And then...you're right, once the blanket is made...time to move on. :)
@Linda-n - You should totally Macrame something. It so much fun and doesn't take that long...which is crazy because the end result looks like it took days. I love it!
@enjaygaltee252 - I did think of that...after I had already made the two :) I will for sure use the hanging method for my next one. And I really love your idea with the twist ties...I hadn't thought of that, so thank you for the hot tip :)
@ThisisRealLifeWithSheri lol idk about hot tip but it worked for me especially with bigger projects. My uncle (90) still has one i made from the 70s. Its hypnotic. At least for me
@jefftackett282 - Oh...I think you need to reconsider. You can't tell me those plant hangers weren't totally cute. Macrame...you need to get into it :)

The nostalgia, I can feel and smell my moms kitchen just looking at that plant hanger 🥹

Love this. Reminds me of same thing my mom made years ago. I would definitely make for my lanai

@melaniefisher8823 - ❤
Takes me back to the 1970’s. You couldn’t have done it without Carls help though!
@pamela5568 - I know...Carl and Joe are always the best helpers :)
Easier if you hang it and use twist ties to hold the string your not working on

Lol I'm not going to relive the 70's with you. Cute but not my style
