My favorite is the battle with Giovanni. The fact that the evil team leader turns out to be the final Gym Leader is still one of my favorite Pokemon plot twists ever.

I'm not entirely sure what the loss conditions are there, and Mixeli is just the kind of guy to show us what a casual battle might look like, too. "I chose Charmander, didn't catch Abra, ignored Diglett, boxed everything randomly, and gave an underleveled Butterfree TM 29..." ? "Oh, whoops, nevermind, that was my friend. I couldn't even find Mr. Psychic." -_- But here's Mix hammering away with a lv. 30 Marowak, and Koga couldn't even manage it, lol.

Wrap was such a mean move in Gen 1. I’m glad it just hurts you and prevents you from escaping now so you can still attack!
Gen. 1 looks way better with the old games.

Charmander truly is an underdog. I usually go with Squirtle, but it’s really the first gym one has to get through with charmander’s weakness
yea then get to misty and having trained only your charmander to charmelon and have it be level 20 something only for a freaking bubblebeam to blast it in one shot. thank goodness i always catch an oddish if i had pick charmander as my starter
In my mind, every Kanto Gym Leader is amazing! When playing Pokémon Blue, I beat all these guys in one try (except for Lt. Surge, because I first forgot to heal my Pokémon).
Lt.Surge was easy for me cause I just spammed Razor Leaf
Which was keep critical hitting

I guess you could say luck, and even some training.
@@glowstonelovepad9294 I beat Sabrina first try in Pokemon Yellow because I got very lucky when she didn't choose to destroy me with Alakazam.

I like that you change your team each gym battle, it makes each team unique when battling each opponent. I also liked when you predicted dugtrio attacks
Back when gust and bite were still normal-type moves
The OG sound for the move screech makes you fucking wince
Sometimes I don’t like the old graphics but other times they’re awesome
i like how koga realizes midway through the battle that he should probably stop marowak from being able to hit his pokemon so he spams smokescreen
and then he self destructs
I like koga and his poisonous maneuvers
My favorite Kanto Gym Leader is Blaine because he has a pretty wacky personality.
Also, you better have BURN HEAL
Koga really just said fuck it and gave red the badge without a fight at the end
Screech... no, goddamnit! No, don't break your-AGH! IT'S SUPER EFFECTIVE ON MY EARS, GAH! The worst status move in Gen1, Gen2, and the original sound recently returned in Gen8 with Sword and Shield, but thankfully they dropped down the volume of the earrape.
Anyway, I kinda prefer Brock. Sure, he's a Rock-type Gym Leader and I'm a trainer who trains teams that are uniquely weak to Water-types, but he's a good man. I mainly chose him thanks to the anime and his skirt-chaser mentality before the end of the Sinnoh arcs.
this brings back memories when i got this game for christmas in 1997 i remember not being able to get out of the first house lol

for me it was train it until level 15 and pray every attack did some damage but i usually use him last so that most of the pokemon i did train helped to damage that onix
onyx is suprisingly hard for 1 gym battle. Two of my pokemon dead before my third finished him. the third one is charmeleon
It so cool how when ever you have a starmie with psybeam psychic water gun and water pulse and you use water pulse and another pokemon uses disable and it disable water gun

I know this was years ago but you should have gotten a flying type Pokémon as well before going to the 4th gym because you might struggle a bit with healing.
That being said no one has lived to battle a grown onyx and live to tell the tell tale five points shall be rewarded to Gryffindor for sheer dumb luck
I will say i like how grindy this was. No exp share, no we had to grind! At least until we found missingno. And surfed the east coast of cinnabar island
Imma be honest i demolished gyms 1-4 without a sweat 5-7 I think I did ok and gym 8 wasn't hard. Elite 4 is a good challenge for anyone who ain't speedrunning and the champion u beat 4 times before he even was champion

Nope. If anything, Brock is Frisk, being that only humans have DETERMINATION (because the monsters don’t have enough matter to hold in the DETERMINATION or something so they melt).
Also please keep Undertale out of this. It’s what makes the fandom so infamous for being one of the worst

15:35 Holy moly, that low roll on psywave (it deal random damage from 1 to user's level x 1.5, or 64 in this case).
Guess Ghosts counter Psychics at least somehow in gen 1.
How much cooler Sabrina would be if they made psywave a real move instead of being one of the worst TMs ever created. Imagine it being the psychic counterpart to Thunder, Blizzard and Fireblast, say a 110 power move with 90 accuracy. Now that would be scary coming from an Alakazam.

I swear, Lt. Surge was the easiest imo since my Lvl 17 Geodude knew Dig and was able to one-shot all of his Pokémon.
For me it was Erika, I one shotted it her whole team with a level 31 dodrio.

Rock is natural against electric but ground is very strong against it.
I rlly wish the EXP. ALL in those games actually worked properly because ur mons lvl up super slowly

hey is it just me or is pokemon yellow is the hardest among the four? (red, blue, yellow, green)
It's actually pretty easy because you could easily get 3 of the Kanto starters and they are very strong when fully evolved so it's not hard at all. Even I beaten it.

Wow, Koga and Blaine just suck. How can you have so many poison types in Kanto and choose 2 Koffings and a Weezing? And WHY would you use first-form evolutions as the SEVENTH LEADER??
I mean, this goes all the way to the eight gym leader since Giovanni also uses an unevolved Rhyhorn as his first Pokemon. In contrast, Sabrinas team looks good on paper but her AI has the habit of using the worst moves at the worst times and her psywave flat out just sucks. Wished they made her TM not one of the worst move in the game. Imagine what a menace she would be if psywave actually was a real move with some 100 base power or something but alas...
