Wish I could see that 544 IH behind the sled. My neighbor had one. First "big tractor" I ever drove. He passed away and the family sold it before I knew about it. Contacted the buyer with a blank check but he wouldn't sell. Sure would have liked to have it. It was still like new cond.
I have probably a stupid question because I've just started watching tractor pull videos. When I was a young un back in the late 70's and early 80's my Uncle and cousin would take me to the fair on tractor pulling night at the Sandusky Co. Fair. I remember all of the classes of pullers from lawn mowers, multiple classes of trucks and tractors to my favorite. The Arfonse Family and their jet engine powered tractor. Here is my question. When did the rules change and why? Back in my day if a driver made a FULL PULL of 300ft, he or she went to the next round. The sled added weight and they would pull again. That determined the winner. I have binge watched a lot of pulling videos and have noticed a lot of BS. The puller who sets the sled has a even smooth track. If you watch closely the following pullers have an extra couple of hundred pounds of mud on the front of the sled they have to pull along with a hump in the middle of the track! CLEAN of the sled and level the track and make the pull fair for everyone.
I like old ones. Most are cookie Cutters. Call me when my tractor is done. I like NTPA pulling. The Lucas tv show announcers don’t know a 460 from a 4020.
