  • Ian Roussel Acquires A Rare 1937 Lincoln Zephyr 🏜️ This Is A True SoCal Desert Treasure
Desert friends turn Ian and Jamie on to a find of a lifetime, A 1937 Lincoln Zephyr. In the kustom community, friends are EVERYTHING, as is sharing finds and resources so that we all can carry on the tradition and legacy of kustom culture. The kustom family has come through once again, and Ian and Jamie found themselves deep in the desert at an estate sale that was only invite only. This car could have went to the highest bidder, but instead went to The Roussel's to take loving care of it. Tune in to see what Ian and Jamie's plans are for this beautiful and rare car. The car has no cancer, no collisions, and most of the exterior pieces are included.

I believe the part you thought might be a bumper filler is the panel the fits above the windshield on the inside to finish off the headliner. The sun visors mount to it too. It would be wrapped with the same material as the headliner is made from.

My wife and I have been watching your youtube videos with great interest. Love the contents and workmanship. We just now finished watching the arrival of the Zepher! So glad this car has fallen into the hands of an experienced car guy with vision and a hardy congratulation declaring YOU'RE NOT GOING TO CHOP IT!! I have nothing against custom work on these old gems and greatly admire the true craftspeople that have turned out exceptional cars. But when you have a rare diamond in the rough like this, at least take the time to work out a plan of attack before charging in with zip saws angle grinders. I've seen a few unfortunate hack jobs done in recent times to some rare cars that were in drivable condition that ended up pretty much a disaster. Of course its the buyer's prerogative to choose what he or she wants to do with their finds, but it is sad when so-called 'experts' dive into a project before the thing is hardly off the trailer only to get stumped at every turn by unforeseen headaches, at which time some of these disasters ultimately end up rusting away out on the 'back 40' somewhere. Good luck with this gem and do hope you will be able to locate those headlight lenses. Cheers.

WOW!! I'm so jealous! I have wanted one for over 50 years! When we moved to Montana, we stopped at a gas station in Beaver Utah. There was a 37 or 38 Zephyr for sale in a dirt lot adjacent to the station. It was a four door with the full drive train and interior. It didn't have the third side rear window, only the two side windows per side. They were asking a couple Hundred dollars! I tried to talk my dad into buying it but to no avail. I think the one you have might have been a limousine with the barn door style on the curb side. Very nice find guys.
I agree with you, this Zephyr should retain it's beauty and not be chopped. As always, Great Video!

By contrast, the Zephyr's 1936 first year sales totaled 14,994 units and would never exceed the top sales figure of 29,293 vehicles in 1937. However, the Zephyr had some intriguing innovations. The unibody construction was a first in the U.S., and the Zephyr could carry six passengers in comfort.

I offered a guy in Bakersfield a few years ago a hundred grand for his 2 door coupe he just bought for 70k. He turned it down. The Zephyr is my bucket list car. I have a 33 three window ford chopped, Henry steel car that I bought. Never selling it. It's too hard to find another one. The guy I bought it off of regrets selling it to me. Enjoy your build, and I can't wait to see what you come up with.

Hey Ian I was watching the new episode of FCG last night and the big yellow 1950 GMC COE you liked Mike Bellow built that here on RUclips. The full build is on his channel if you're interested. [Bellos Kustoms] in the playlist section it's there. He also built a few of these Zephyrs too.😉✌

Man oh man! This car is so good. Im'a gon'e be following this transformation for sure..
My favorite all time car is the 1937 Fords, especially the latest customized retro builds.JUST LOOK AT THE AERODYNAMICS, just 37 years after the same builders were still riding horse and building wagons and carriages.!!!

I have a distinct memory at age 4 on East 3rd Street in Brooklyn where we were living at the time of a 1940 Lincoln Zephyr driving at what seemed like high speed to my 4 year old eyes. It was the windshield shape over that cool grille that captivated me.

That's amazing, to a 4 year old now, all cars probably look the same.

You are right it is so unusual it is uniquely cool. An art deco front end and a VW beetlesk rear end. Cant wait to see the finished product. And you are right just lower and modernize.

Wow, that is amazing. That underdash A/C would look better in something '60's I think. The hood latch is wild!

I love how car guys say their new find is absolutely complete, then go on to explain all the parts that are missing (in this case, engine, windows, floors, etc.

When I use to work for Dan Woods back in the day we use to drop cars to have them acid dipped in Santa Ana somewhat close to Edinger and Main I believe. Thought it was called Dyer Acid Stripping or something like that but can’t say for sure. I can give Dan a call if you want.
