I played the Batman Begins game. It was actually good. It was basically Splinter Cell starring Batman. Doesn't compare to the Arkham games that came later, but as far as movie licensed games go, it was one of the better ones.

Do publishers even know how long it takes for video games to be made anymore?

***** To be fair, given all the issues that can arise and the methods that can be used to make a game too...The development time could vary immensely, I reckon... Sometimes developers will try out different techniques, and such, which they may not be used to and they may underestimate the work needed to get it right... That said, they could probably rush a game out even if it's not at its best, but it depends...
So yeah, I'm not sure it's so easy to judge how long a game will take to make.

***** They care more about the money than the game. Games are just a means to their money end.

A publisher gives a developer a time frame in which a game is to be made and the developer has to agree to these terms. If the developer has poor scope management, that is not the fault of the publisher.
