I think you have a sweet setup I have a Toyota DJ cruiser overland build a 05 jeep wrangler rubicon unlimited overland build a 09 h3t. Hummer build for overlanding all has Arb rooftop tents my current build is a 2007 land rover lr3 hse build for overlanding I wasn't sure if I buy a rooftop. Tent or just sleep inside will all sleep folded down but now I am considering buy a I ikamper 3.0 with annex plus to complete the build I like that I can switch up on my mood of what to drive the fj has a magnason supercharger and lj. Jeep also has a supercharger on it i feel all my build are fun to drive , I was looking for a jeep gladiator but I didn't want to drop 60k plus build out , so I look at h3t. Hummer alpha with 5.3 v8 solid axles I put a road armor bed rack Arb front bull bumper with winch many people think my hummer new because how rare it is gm only build it from 2009-2010 only 5000 and only 400 v8 only thing that sucks not much upgrades without modification parts to works as i did the road armor bed rack , no lifts available any more only a torsion bar to raise front end but I can fit 35 tires it came with luxury and adventure package very sold ride anyway nice video

My thoughts on rooftop tents and annexes, they seem overpriced and impractical compared to canvass tents which don’t need a vehicle to be set up. This frees the vehicle to go exploring or run errands without breaking camp and packing everything away.
I understand your idea, and you’re right about that. In my case, I feel a lot safer up on the RTT and really like the hardshell protection. For a quick camp-and-leave kind of scenario, I wouldn't set up the Annex. It was a “YT video filming” scenario. 🥺
@@jaycevessier7554 I spend a lot of time out in the woods in the middle of nowhere. And usually once every other day we will leave camp setup and drive several mjles back into civilization and cell signal to check in with family and download podcasts etc.
Hi there, We're in Australia, so we don't have bears n stuff (the need to be up high & safe) But we are big 4wders. And I agree with you. Rooftop tents are bloody top heavy, and they mess with your centre of gravity when doing tough 4wding. Also, we often leave our tent & camp set-up to explore. But every camper has their own unique setup and their their own unique preferences & needs.
Sure is . I stay in Calgary and love camping 🏕 too. Just got to convince the wife to try it in -20 weather .You know alberta can get pretty cold out here. And banff such a beautiful place we love it at least 1 of month we go there.

Seems like you're settled nowadays with the x-cover, but curious if you think the annex is stable enough to be left standalone after disconnecting from the skycamp? Just like how some of the other comments mention, needing to leave the campsite without a full teardown is what I'm interested in doing, and reducing the amount of adjustments needed by only removing the stake down points without the added guylines seem doable? That way driving back in I'd only need to remove the stake down points to rezip back to the RTT?
Hi, thanks for watching! That's a great question. :) By unzipping the connection point and relocating a couple of guylines, you can undock the tent and your vehicle. And you can reconnect if you come back to the exact spot. It was designed that way.
Great set up with the Annex! I love how cozy it is during this cold weather. That fire pit also looks interesting... Can't wait to go camping with you guys!
Both Minis are great! No complains. Skycamp Mini seems more solid and will last longer. It’s better in terms of opening and closing easier and quicker. X-cover Mini is lighter and has more windows at a lower price point. I’m currently settled with the X-Cover Mini. 🤙

I had a chance to stay in this combination last summer when it was crazy windy. It was surprisingly stable. I think we'll have more chance to use it under the rain or snow throughout this winter, so stay tuned!

Thanks to the 2nd combustion fire pit, almost no major sparks. And that night was a little moist, so zero holes.
