My favorite legion artist was Grell followed by Giffen. Loved the Bronze Age legion stories. Could never really get into any of the reboots for some reason

Well, I have LoS in the black and white telephone styled books, DC Showcase Presents, and ordered today the hard to find volume 2 of these oversized Hardcover Omnibuses, as well as volume 3. I'll order volume 1 next month though, easier to come by these days. Anyway, I hope to also get the color trade paperback you passed on as well. There's only one volume, so why not.
And, appreciated all you shated concerning the LoS when they first hit the comic book spinner racks !

Substitute superheroes? That could be a monthly comic on its own!

The thing is, the Subs are actually an effective team, with one Kryptonian-level heavy-hitter and a solid strata of powerful members!

Hello Steve, I was surprised to discover that my local online retailer has the very volume you are holding up for sale. Then I discovered that they also have a one volume hardcover omnibus of Walter Simonson's Thor. I feel a strong urge to read both of these series. Both volumes are eye-wateringly expensive, but at 680 pages and 1100 pages respectively they seem to offer value for money. Which one would be more fun to read?

WHAAAAT! You can't make me CHOOSE between my beloved Legion right in the run where I first discovered them and the Simonson Thor run, renowned as one of the greatest comics performances in Marvel history!
If I have to choose, I'd urge you to buy the Thor volume. If you're new to the Legion, this volume will probably just seem dorky and flat to you - whereas the Thor volume is immediately gripping. But either way, I agree: eye-wateringly expensive.

I'm pretty sure that DC is aware of the demand for a new Legion book, but they wait for the right creative team and the right opportunity to launch it. Jonathan Hickman was rumoured to be the writer on a new Legion book for some time, but I don't know if it's still a thing. From the little Legion I've read, I don't quite see him as the right author for this series. I adored his run on Fantastic Four and this is one of the best in the field, but I think DC probably will and should go for a lighter, maybe even campy tone for Legion.

I'm of course worried about what they might do. More than one Legion-fan friend of mine has made a point with which I pretty much agree: having no Legion comic at all is probably better than having a Legion comic that's a travesty.

DC sucks for failing the continuity of this Series. But I still give props to them for creating the Legion, which Marvel has no counterpart of. I enjoy reviews of my fave Comics team the Legion so thank Steve. I just bought the paperback and it is less content and goes only up to July 1963. I was looking for paperback Volume 2 but could not find yet. Have you gotten the "Archives" reprints? How is that different from these Silver Age Omnibus volumes?

I'm surprised there isn't a new Legion book out by now. Are writers not pitching a new series or are the executives apathetic/ hostile to the Legion?

I don't even have a firm guess as to why this whole property is being so systematically ignored. I almost bought "The Terrifics" solely because of Phantom Girl!
