True. She also used “heraustrompeten” instead of the more proper “herausposaunen”, because the first is how you would say it in English (“to trumpet”). And she used “Branche” for “branch” although “Branche” has a different meaning.

It's so awkward when you're switching between languages and keep using same/similar words. Happens to me regularly where I take English words and just pronounce them more German-like.
Btw when Kiara says "Branche" she means "branch" which would be "Zweig" in German.

German-speaking countries are a fairly untapped market for Vtubers, so I feel like there is potential there, especially with the Hololive boost. High level of disposable income for superchats and merch, relatively close physical proximity for off-collabs, multiple language proficiencies of both streamer and viewers for more outreach, a tendency to obsess over things and a great senpai to help at the start.

That sounds similar to Sweden for me, everyone in Sweden knows English on top of Swedish. The only ones that don’t know english are really old people or little kids like toddlers.
The only time where it’s worth it to translate or dub something in Swedish is when it’s something targeted towards the kid audience. I wonder how similar it is for the german speaking countries? Is it the same?

@@1nt9rn9t-dudewillheim2 At least as far as I can tell English isn't quite as wide -spread here as in Sweden, most Germans can probably communicate the basics in English, but that's it for a lot of them. It's more prevalent in the younger generations, ofc especially gamers and people with higher education, but nowadays I think every German child has to learn English in school at some point.

      Yeah, it's kinda similar.
Most people can understand english well enough to not need translations. Especially the younger generations. Not quite as well as in Sweden though.
But there is another big factor:
German is one of the biggest dubbing markets, especially for anime, it is the 3rd biggest after japanese and english.
Plus it is also really invested into streaming culture, let's just say there is a reason why TwichCon Europe is in Germany.

0:11 - It is actually acceptable for ß to be written as "ss". For a long time, capital sharp S (ẞ) did not exist, which caused problems in systems that required or forced capital letters (such as the way everything important is CAPITALIZED in early Pokemon games).
In Switzerland and Liechtenstein sharp S straight up does not exist, where it's just "ss" instead.
The lack of umlaut is a genuine problem, though.

I mean this in a genuine way that I find it rather entrancing to hear german spoken in such a light voice, since it isn't something I hear very often. brings about the subtle and more delicate qualities of the language that I think a lot of people may be ignorant of due to only having heard it as it is portrayed in popular media.
