Many silicones won't cure with water based clay - but a wax or oil based clay should work with everything! Just worth double checking the types of silicone you're using to be sure.
Love this! Happy to see people in the community developing low-cost and limited-material soft robots as it's easy to get carried away with complex soft bots. Really like the use of the ribbon and bottle.
Thanks a lot harrison this video nearly solved my purpose, It has made the procedure very clear. If you are motivated you should make better alternative for above layer bubbling and automatic pneumatic pumps..
I know this is a dumb question, but I'm confused. If you pour silicon into the mold, you'll end up with a solid block of silicone right (even if it's flexible)? How can you inflate it if it's solid and has no "empty spaces" inside for air?
The mold makes a hollow block of silicone not a solid one. The inside cavity can be seen at around the 3 minute mark in the video. I hope this clears things up.
Thanks!!What is the reason for using ecoflex0030? What else can not be done? For example, 0050 or 0020....Is it due to pot life time? I am a college student preparing for graduation. While investigating the softgripper, your video was a great help and asked this question.
+박민수 I use ecoflex 00-30 because it is very stretchy and will inflate at low pressures. 00-50 will work but it may be difficult to inflate by hand. I have never made a grabber using 00-20 so I unfortunately can not comment on its effectiveness.
You should try using silicone 1 caulk. Instrucable user mikey77 has made soft robots using Oogoo, a home made silicon caulk based paste. Ill put the link to his inscrutable here. www.instructables.com/id/Soft-Robots-Making-Robot-Air-Muscles/ I think my mold will work if you coat it in lacquer first.
Also try proto-putty. it is a putty developed by The King of Random that has a similar recipe to Oogoo but is not as sticky. ruclips.net/video/7fwytA5r2Mw/видео.html If you try either one please let me know I am genuinely curious to see if it works.
+Mr. Happymahi This design will not work well with silicone call. Ecoflex can be purchased both online or and in store. Smooth-On.com has a list of distributors I hope this helps
This video explained it so much better than countless others.
I see possibilities for more sophisticated molds using clay, etc. Possibly casting molds using silicone around "accordion" flex tubes.

+XYZAidan Thank you! I am a fan of your channel.
+Harrison _89 Glad to hear it! Keep up the great work.

+UDBHAV GARG Thank you for your suggestions. I am glad you found the video useful!
Thank you for this video.
I love it...superb
what´s a replacement for ecoflex?
thanks
cool
How much pressure it can carry?
Is is only curling ribbon can do the job? or just using anything wrapping will do too? Just curious...
Any ribbon will do. I used wrapping ribbon because it is less likely to roll when the gripper is inflated

You missed the part where he layered two pieces together creating a cavity in the middle! Go back and watch more closely!
Did you mix Ecoflex A and B on 1 :1?
+민수 박 yes
Thanks!!What is the reason for using ecoflex0030?

Thank you very much.
I cant find any ecoflex 00-30 near my area, but does it work using ecoflex 00-50?
Yes, the design will work using ecoflex 00-50.
I bought and used some Ecoflex 0030 and it came out purple... how can I get some that comes out clear like yours?
+Ryan Coulson Is the unused rubber in the mixing cup also purple or just the rubber taken from the mold?
Harrison Young Part A is red, Part B is blue, and when you mix them together you get purple and it stays that way
+Ryan Coulson Both parts of Exoflex 00-30 are supposed to be clear. Based on your description I think you might be using OOMOO 30.
Awwwww dang, you're right. I just figured the 00M was some generic part that came at the beginning of all the products :(
there is an alternative to ecoflex? it's very expensive...

Hi i dont have ecoflex can regular silicone work for this. or can you tell me where can i get ecoflex.
thank you.

Harrison Young
thanks for telling me,
i love your videos.
Can I?
Can i use OOMOO?
+Luke HD Unfortunately OOMOO is not stretchy enough. I recommend using something from Ecoflex series.
Interesting sex toys could be made with this...
