Well you learn something new everyday XD Tbh I was instantly thinking that that was the case and tried it out and yep it goes that way XD But I never knew about that before XD
I played this mission normally just recently and I got stomped over several times with air units as I tried to beat it - and I had mutas and hydras at my disposal. I think that attacking that isloand to the left of the island where Overmind is is what triggers those attacks, but I may be wrong. Anyway, this mission is brutal, and I'm impressed that you managed to beat it and even so - with nyduses dropping in the middle of enemy minirals, instead of, like, giving up and just using that empty plateau to the botton of enemy base to drop drones, build hatch and make nydus. Absolutely insane that you've pulled it off.
I honestly didn't think this one would be as insane as it was. But I didn't think of the fact there was creep over there, so you couldn't drop. I was expecting the very normal strat of dropping in the bottom right base, building a hatch, and nydusing from there, which would have made this an easy 30 minutes max. Seeing you try endlessly to get that foothold with overlords and nydus was entirely unexpected and awesome. Well Played.
I remember this map. I had to give up trying to finish the campaign because my poor macro couldn't survive waves of one million billion muta-guardian-valkyries. It would be a shame if this happened to Grant when he has only zerglings to defend!
So what do you think the lore is on the infested Terrans being controlled by the UED? Do you think the Zerg they mind-controlled just already had those laying around, or do you think they're infested PoW's from the UED's initial conquest?
In the lore, the UED army was made up largely of conscripted locals from the Kuprulu Sector. So, I wouldn't be surprised if they infested members of their own ranks, provided they weren't from earth.
The tank at 26:47 has 3 kills while the tank at 29:53 has 2. Now that I think of it, that tank might have been there in my playthrough as well. I guess the AI just really likes that spot.
It really seems that what Grant thought was correct, the AI chooses that spot as the drop for wounded tanks, since its the closest on the lowground, where the SCVs have acess to repair, that would explaine that one Single SCV not doing anything next to him since it cant reach him to repair and so its stuck.
I started reading this comment at the exact same time he said it. For a second I was genuinely confused why my internal monologue suddenly sounded like Grant lmao
That one tank that got dropped behind the minerals, lol! The Starcraft AI is so derpy but it countered you so hard there, that was hilarious to watch. Nice job on this one, that nydus play was ridiculous! Unfortunately the run is invalid because you used irradiated overlords to damage enemies :p. Ok, ok, I'm joking, that was absurd :)
That mission is ridiculous. I did a Hydras only run, which is easier for sure, but I noticed that they loved killing my overlords. They'd go out of their way to destroy them, was frustrating haha.
I would talk about how trying to mirco zerglings in Starcraft 1 is like herding cats, but at least in cat herding, the felines won't jump infront of a tank and sit there while it rolls them over.
He kind of did on Heart of the Swarm with drones only. His answer to pretty much every mission was to build a large amount of spine crawlers and rush the enemy bases. He didn't make it all the way to end as far as I can tell though. I believe his last youtube video was at the hybrid facility right before Korhal. Wings of Liberty probably wouldn't work unless you allow bunkers with infantry. Static defense could be possible on Legacy of the Void, but I know I don't have the skill to try.
So, why in lore is the UED using infested terrans? It’s one thing to take alien monsters and bend them into your own ruthless army, but turning men into suicide bombers?!?
stupid but, could he not drop a drone on the white base to make a hatch to then make a nydus? counting that he got it at least partially secured with last ling nydus? or that has no path to other bases?
no no no you think that tank did something stupid that work on their own benefit? Huh. Cool. Too bad it only works with the number line rather than the num pad.
You can tell that the UED are the bad guys because they're a Terran faction that uses infested Terrans.
This mission is really well designed - the Terran - Zerg forces were really in sync with each other and worked as joint players.
AI: makes grant pull all his forces to a one marine distraction getting his entire mineral line
grant: ooooh nooooo the one marine timing!
It almost looks like this mission was designed to have stronger units in your army then Zerglings...weird. Well done btw.
If the zerglings had the spinlot air attack they would have been enough to easily handle it.

One of the many things I love about the SC1 campaign is that it feels like your fighting an actual opponent.

So it looks like the orange AI dropped *that tank* to repair it, as there's a frozen SCV on the other side of the mineral line.
Your dedication is admirable, most Giant of Grants
I can’t wait for the main channel video, this and the no-ling, no-base start will be highlights
The UED using infested Terran is a pretty dark idea if you think about it.

Grant in earlier games: man, guardians are so trash, just absolutely horrible unit
This game: so I took that personally
:P
Turns out zerglings and spore colonies aren't good counters to an air unit that outranges spores
who knew
This mission is wack, why do you need dark templars, if Zeratul kills the Overmind anyway?
This is the only mission I've been wondering about
Windows + 7 opens the 7th thing on your taskbar, windows + other numbers does similar things
1164 loss - that's below what I've expected

He can’t. Against the rules of the run. You can only use overlord drop if it is impossible otherwise to complete the mission.
