I remember seeing an documentary once about Doctor Who, and Pratchett appeared on it so clearly was a fan. He was quite vocal about how ridiculous it was though, pointing out that when the earth is being dragged by the Tardis, you can see people's cups of tea sloshing about, and then asked if that's happening in people's living rooms what do you think is happening to the oceans?
RIP sir Terry. Would have loved to have seen Terry write or co-write an episode of Red Dwarf
